i know its only preseason, but for a game televised on FSN this GTD is kind of pathetic haha. Looks like there is officially 2 open roster spots. Whos ganna get them? Brunnstrom has looked solid as has Conner...nothing stellar, but solid. Emmerton has looked average at best. Val has looked good, maybe taking the step up to the next level? -

That looked awful. not to be barbaric, but looks like the wings just lost a little speed and at the same time, a roster spot may have opened up for guys like brunnstrom to step up and take... -

Not only does seeing that number remind me of Maltby, but i also cant help but root for White to become a great player and fan favorite for the Wings since he is wearing that number. With that said, i still get an icky feeling seeing the 18 without Maltby over it...I'll root for White as long as he does not disgrace the number haha. Maltby may not be a hall of famer, but hes royalty in my book and deserves a great player to take over his number haha -
Thats terrible news. Death is always a sad thing especially when it comes to a person as young as he was. To hear it is a possible suicide is even worse. As fans of the game and of these players who are payed millions to play a game we all love, its hard for us to understand how these people can be depressed or affected by mental illnesses, but at the end of the day, no matter how much we idolize our athletes, they are just regular people like all of us and arent unbreakable like we all rather believe. Its sad to see something like that if it was infact a suicide. My prayers are with him and his family and i wish his death could have been prevented. Mental illnesses like depression are something i feel we can all relate to at some points in our lives and i wish he could have found the help he needed before it came to this.

Come on really? You say mursak needs to earn a spot but you go ahead and assign Hudler to a first line role? Did i miss something? Last i checked, Hudler was an undersized 2nd/3rd liner healrhy scratch last year, whom has been discussed in numerous trade rumors around Detroit. Theres no denying that babcock isnt a huge fan of him as it is, he doesnt play defense, and refuses to shoot the puck...where in all that did he earn a 1st line spot. I dont like to come in and flame people about stuff, but you somehow turn everything into a Hudler discussion and you make him out to be way better than he is. Its just getting a little old...whenever i see your name in a thread now i know im going to read something about Happy Hudler. Im not a Hudler hater by any stretch, im pretty neutral, but how/when did he earn a first like spot on this team? It baffles me, especially when you come in talking about other players having to earn spots in the lineup, but somehow give Hudler top honors like hes a top 20 player in the league.

Last i checked carcillo was only 26 or so....why does espn even bother at attempting hockey articles???

Breakout rookies for the 2011-2012 season
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to hockeytracker's topic in General
I dont get this list, cause half these people have played atleast 1 full season in the nhl, so how are they rookies or prospects? And also, how is tatar an homorable mention if hes played? And he also has abdelkader in the honorable mention section....does this guy know what a rookie/prospect is??? Seems like he should of just called it a list of young players that could have a breakout year -
Yuck i am mot going to like ian white on the sole fact that he is wearing Maltbys number, lol.Thats going to be weird, love or hate Maltby, 18 is his number. I know the wings would never retire it or anything, and im in noway suggesting they do.so, but i dont like a new comer coming in and taking it haha. Im sure white will be a decent player for us, and we will all like him, buy couldny he pick a different number? Did he always wear 18? I cant remember him wearing it before bit i could ne wrong. Aa for Liljas number 3 and lebdas 22, give them to whoever wants them and hope they can improve on the reputation of those numbers haha
-
You know us LGWers love to pick on one guy and lay into them and basically blame them for everything thst goes wrong all year, thats nothing new, haha. Im with ya though, if there isnt good value for hudler than just ride him out and maybe he will surpirse us all...we can hope
-
To be fair, Hudlers not really effective in any role haha, but i get what you are saying. Im really hoping that if all this trade talk doesnt lead to a decent trade for Hudler and we are stuck with him for the year, hopefully all the talk and dissapointment will light a fire under his ass and he comes out and plays with some gusto this season....though hes guaranteed the paycheck for this year and can always go back to the khl next season so who knows how much pride he will show at this point.

Man that seems like a harsh punishment for beating up his own garage door...ive beat the crap out of some of my own household appliances and never had to do community service! Feel bad for the guy, from what ive read he was just trying to get some of his stuff out of his own house which he paid for that his ex-wife was still living in...i just dont get what he was being punished for, and for being just his first offense, this seems like alot of service hours. Either they are keeping their mouths shut about stuff that went down, or the court system is doing what it does best when it comes to divorces and completely screwing the men like they always do.

The rest of us have had access to the internet and are still baffled as to how he got that kind of money...haha

Wings re-sign Eaves to 3-year, $3.6m contract
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
What? Are you kidding? This kid can fill so many roles from a second line scorer with speed to a 4th line penatly killer. Hell with his quick right handed shot id even give him so pp time at the point. You think he needs to improve over time????? Even if he has hit his peak of ability(which i dont believe he has come close to) hes only getting paid 1.2 mil. Hes played well enough already to make atleast 2 mil. If hes given the ice time i guarantee he will meet all expectations he was projected to hit when he was drafted. Teams gave up on this guy way to early and the Wings have taken advantage of it and will continue to do so. This guys shown so much talent and potential that your post confuses me... -

Youve gotta be kidding me. Holland sits on his hands all offseason than signs the 6 foot 3 pylon to a deal like that? Are you kidding me? The wings were ganna be a better team letting him walk, and thats what we all thought was ganna happen, than we sign him for a ridiculous cap hit? Man ket the kid walk and see he cant get anything on the market outside of Toronto. If this is an accurate cap hit than Holland needs to quit drinking and soon... -
Forgive me if im wrong, but i didnt see any glimpses over the years of Hudler shoeing he is capable of handeling/deserving first line minutes...nor have i seen babcock act shy about benching him/healthy scratch last season. How does that scream 1st liner anywhere, let alone in Detroit? Send him and his lazy play packing
-
Is there still going to be a conference call/press conference to watch?
-
No, No, NO! Jagr interested in Detroit.
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to Majsheppard's topic in General
In all honesty, i would like the wings to go after someone younger and who has been in the nhl keeping up with the nhl speed the last few seasons, and someone who plays a better 2 way style. However, if training camp is quickly approacing and the free agency pool is all dried up, and we cant get anything via trade without giving up to much, then id say give Jagr a shot if he can come cheap enough. One thing over the years ive noticed is that the wings have pretty good depth. I mean look at last season when modano went down. We had players ready and willing to step in. If Jagr doesnt pan out the way the wings want, we have other players that csn take his spot. Make jagr a healthy scratch or buy him out or something if its not working out. It csnt hurt us that badly if its a cheap one year deal. But like i @aid, at this point it would be more of a last resort in my book. -
I cant tell if this is sarcasm or not...

Ya know, it it werent for blueadams we wouldnt have a new thread to read and respond to each day. The only downside is that he seems to post the same thread over and over again but with a different title. Why do we all fall for it every time???

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
I know that defense is our weakest point right now, but alot of you are still talking about signing fowards and im a little surprised noone has mentioned brooks laich. Hes an ufa isnt he? Pretty skilled guy and if we are ganna have some money why not take a shot at that guy? With that said, if rafalski is done we really need a blockbuster dman to come in which will probably take away alot of capspace and chances of getting a scorer unless we set up a trade. -

Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
whoever we decide to go after if the news is true, it better be a right handed shot. We have all of one right hander now? There were so many chances last season where the puck bounced off the goalie for a nice juicy rebound with a half empty net and our players couldnt burry it because they had to catch the puck with their back hand and then transfer it to their forehand. Or when we have a 2 on 1 going and we cant set up a decent one timer because both are lefties and the Dman takes away the only passing lane for two lefties. Plus the past couple of cup winning teams have all had a hard right handed shot from the point in common. Im not saying that we need righties to win, but i do think that having an assorment of righties and lefties would help us out.
