Brian Rolston, or Brian Rolston or maybe even Brian Rolston....... There were rumors of him being unhappy with the team and his role on it a while back, but after seeing them play some good hockey lately he might be singing a different tune. I'd love to see the team make a trade for him. He would be a great addition to our second line, and a good goal scorer to step up if one of our first line guys gets hurt. Im not sure how much longer he has left on his contract, or if there are still rumors of his trade...but man that would be a perfect choice in my book. I would also love Sundin or Modano....i cant see how Modano can be happy with the Dallas orginization after they stole his C away. Wouldnt mind seeing him come home either. With that all said...the possibility of landing any of these players are very low.

Haha if thats the case he must be loaded because it looks like he works 24/7 at that job.....and obviously hes pretty good at it !

i dunno how many were watching the pregame, i was awtching in the hopes that they would talk to Yzerman seeing as this was the anniversary of his retirement ceremony. Luckily they had like a 5 minuts interview with him, so i was pretty excited. I still cant get used to him wearing a suit, and i dont now if i like suited up yzerman. I think from now on whenever he does interviews, he should put pads and a jersey on, throw some water in his air and on his face, and do the whole interview a little winded as to make us all think he just got done playing......i miss that man on the ice!

Hey i was thinking about this today, and was wondering if anyone else remebered this. But there was a game quite a few yeas ago when the wings were playing montreal when roy was still there, and the wings scored so many goals on him that he walked off the ice and if im not mistaken, quit the team or demanded a trade right after that game. I was watching some vids on youtube on wings tributes and was watching the colorado and detroit brawls and i saw roy and it made me think of that night. Wanted to se if anyone else remembered that. I think we scored 9 or 1o goals on him before he finaly got hooked in the second. I was trying to find a video of it, but cant find it anywhere, if anyone has the vid id love to see it!

We have two 30+ scorers already in hank and dats, and possibly a third in homer. Along with those three, the rest of our scoring is distributed evenly throughout the rest of the team. Our average goals per game has got to be around 4 or so, so i think we have a good chance of a cup run as it is, however, adding another 30 plus scorer would definetly sweeten the pot!

Hey, we know Cleary can no problem if you remeber last years playoffs.....

Mats Sundin - Yes-true leader, and with his points alone he is HOF worthy Eric Lindros - No Unless they make a section in the HHOF for biggest dissapointments in NHL History Peter Forsberg - No To injury prone. If he would have stayed healthy he would be a no brainer Jeremy Roenick - Yes - NA player with 500 + goals plus one hell of a dancer, has to be HOF worthy Rod Brind'Amour - Yes - Underrated. One of the, if not the best, defensive forwards with a great scoring ability. Mark Recchi - No Mike Modano - Yes - Without a doubt. No explanation needed Keith Tkachuk - No - as of right now no, but if he plays well the next few years its a possibility Chris Osgood - Yes - in the top 10 in wins as a career backup? Best backup goalie i have ever seen! Plus won a cup as a starter, the only thing that might hold him back was his stint in st louis and NY.... Scott Niedermayer - No - Based of pure hatred alone! Brendan Shanahan - Yes - Scores everywhere he goes, makes players around him better! Sergei Fedorov - Yes - If he wasnt so greedy and stayed with Detroit he would be a shoe in...hopefully his greed wont ruin his chances in NHL history Rob Blake - No Alexander Mogilny - No Curtis Joseph - No - Washed up, should have hung them up years ago. Hurting his chances staying around Teemu Selanne - Yes - To much skill to not be inducted Gary Roberts - Yes - Love his style of play! Nikolai Khabibulin - No -

Man i wonder how homer feels with everyone saying that the best line in the NHL consists of him. He went years without getting any respect from the league for being the best at what he does. Its gotta be nice that hes finally getting some respect and popularity. Unfortuanetly, it has also brought some unwanted attention fron Referee's and some bulls*** calls.

I totally agree about sammy. Cant stand him. Dont like him when hes on a first or second line, shoots for no reason, and i REALLLLLY cant stand it whe ni see him playing the point. I dont get it. I worked out well for Federov when Scotty tried it, that doesnt mean it works with every player. not to mention Federov was much more talented. However, i like how well Lilja has played this year. He was solid in last years playoffs ( minus coughing the puck up to selanne in the last game) and it has carried over to this year. I think out biggest liability is Kronwall at this point. But i dont want to give up on him just yet.

I agree and dissagree at the same time. That line is so solid together, they feed off one another. The chemistry is so good between thoe three they always know where each other are. Its like Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan, Dats is just like Pippen with the no look passes and Zetterberg slams it home like Jordan. Then of course you have homer who is there to pick up the rebounds and just utterly piss off the goalies. If we split them up, i dont know if its possible for them to create new chemistry with other line mates. I think Dats and Zetterberg share the same brain which is why they work so well togehter. If seperated there could be a huge decrease in their productivity. Dats might shoot more if without zetterberg which means more goals for him, but Dats has a talent for the passing game much like larionov. I think if we take him off a line with zetterberg then his full talent is not reached. Zetterberg obviously wont have a wizard feeding him pucks for all star goals which means a major decrease in stats for him. Look what happened to Jordan when he came out of retirement for the second time to play for the Wizzards....he was ok, but nothing special and certainly not the MJ of old. And do you know why? No Pippen! I think these two need eachother. Now if you would have asked me this question in the beginning of the year i would have said split them up! The first 10 games or so, their line was the only line scoring. That scares me when you only have one productive line. Luckily we made it work and kept winning, but only becaue zetterberg was getting 4 poins a game and dats and homer were each getting like 2. However, now we have more production coming from other lines. Malts has gotten some big goals, CLEARY is a monster, Huds and flip are stepping up. We are now seeing 4 productive lines which to me is much better. So now im content with how things are and how the lines are working out. It seems now that the ZDH line was struggling a bit last game, and in games like that i think Baabcock should mix the lines. when your #1 line is struggling throughout the game, mix it up and see wht happens. So i agree and dissagree Keep them since we now have good production coming from all the lines. However i think that if they look like they are struggling in the game, mix up the lines at the period break and see what happens. They should always be on the same PP like though, cant split that up even if they are slumping. Those are my thoughts. I agree that we shouldnt have just one productive line, but the past 7 games or so, we have had production out of other lines. It seems like the other lines are starting to click. In the begining of the season it didnt look good, but now it seems like the team has the chemistry back that they had last year. I dont think they need to be together all the time, but for the most part i say keep em unless the other lines start slipping again or if the ZDH line starts slumping.

Haha, im watching that movie right now, looks like someone else is too....

Looks like it wont be a big deal, i googled his name to see what big deal was, and it didnt return any results of anything other than hockey pics of him, so it looks like its under control for now. Although, i may just have not tried hard enough to find anything.

Alright, Well heres my feelings as if anyone cares. I've NEVER been a DOM fan whatsoever. He has always rubbed me the wrong way, i dont know what it is, maybe its the fact that he completely bailed on us in the past and then came out of retirement for another team, maybe its the unorthodox way he plays the game, maybe its because my heart stops everytime i see him come running out of next full speed at an oppsing teams player finishing the play with a baseball slide into the players legs like a baserunner taking out a shortstop to break up the double play., maybe its the fact that he apparently doesnt get the whole concept of the "goalie Stick" and tends to play better without one and likes to throw it at anything that moves on the ice, or maybes its the fact that i cant understand a word he says when he talks......anyways that list has nothing to do with what i want to talk about i just thought i would vent for a minute. Anyways, So DOM....as much as i dont like the guy.....this was only one game. Im not going to jump on his back right away, i will need to see him play bad a few more times before i run him out of town. Fact is, hes aproven goalie, a proven winner, and a cup winning goalie. Results dont lie. Yes hes getting old, but we saw last year he can still be a fantastic 60/40 #1 goaltender. Now is he deminishing in talent? I cant argue with that. Hes nowhere near as talented as he used to be in my opinion, but at the same time many of you are saying that our defense is playing crappy infront of him. Ok, ill agree there, we dont play that great in front of DOM. But Dom is scaring me this year because last year when our defense would suck, he would come through and steal a few games for us and stand on his head. Ive yet to see that. A team needs to know that if they are lacking in one department in a particuar game that another player will come through and help out. If your defense is lacking a bit, a good save or great period from a golatender is a good kick in the rear to get them moving. Hasek hasnt done that for me this year, last year it happened quite a bit. I think he just needs to get going and he will be the DOM of old. But the current DOM has to go. Hes gotta start going, on most nights hes not seeing more than 15-20 shots, and letting 4 or 5 of these shots in is unacceptable. Dom needs to step up his game and play like he used to. His GAA is way to high for him if he wants to help us get in playoffs and then help us once we get there. He needs to get it atleast under 2.00. Anything over that to me is unacceptable wit hte defense that we have (Regardless if they play bad 1 out of 15 games, we dont habe McCabe so we cant blame the defense for everything) His save percentage is ridiculous as well, if im not mistaken its around .860-.870. I dont beleive any team got in playoffs last year with their goalie under a .900 save % (I may be wrong i did not fully research this). but Dom has gotta get that higher. So is it time to give up on Dom? Not yet. Is it time to give Ozzie more resposibility? Maybe untill dom gets a few more games under his belt. But in the same sense, how is dom ganna get better if we take starts away from him. You cant really win. I'd say let DOM keeps his starting spot for atleast a few more game and if the GAA doesnt go down and the SA% doesnt go up, then i say we have a problem. At the same time, its noce to know we have Ozzie who has just been HUGE this season for us, so if Dom doesnt fix himself we have no worries in my book.

The only question is does Sundin stay with detroit if a trade did happen, or does he turn around and go straight back to the leafs? I wouldnt be giving up any goo prospects unless some kind of long term contract was discussed. Holland is smart though, he wont do anything dumb. If a big name is brought in at hte trade deadline he will more than likely be brought in under a contract that the compensations for the trade are determined on A) the outcome of the season and B) renewal of contracts, much like the bertuzzi deal last year.

First off, IMO, yes i think dallas would trade Modano. Throughout Yzerman's entire career there was discussion of his possible trade, the wings orginization loved him, and yet he was still the topic of discussion for trades. So i dont disregard any possibilities. Also, Dallas has taken alot of responsibility away from Modano, along with the captaincy. I cant beleive that he is happy with the orginization and their lack of faith in him. So any comparission from him to yzerman i beleive is unfair. I think Modano is just unhappy where he is and it is affecting his play. I think a change of teams and a return home would kick up his stats a bit!
-
You think prospal is on the block?
-
I think modano could do really well here. I dont know whats going on with him in dallas. Ever since the orginization gave up on him and stripped him of his captaincy, things have gone down hill for him and the team. Maybe a change of scenory would be good for him, what better place to go than back to your hometown!
-
Oh im soory i thought this was a red wings forums in which you could discuss anything hockey related regarless of when it takes place....my bad.
-
Do you think he is more worried about winning a cup or trying to get a long term deal with a team that is compeltitve year in and year out? Because if he is intestested in just winning a cup this year, he could sign with a few teams, but if he wants to get on a team that is consistent year in and year out and has a great chance of winning the cup then the wings are the team. Do you think this has any chance of happening? Heard anything? Or are we just hoping haha.
-
Im assuming all of your contributions are based on speculation and hope. I would love to sign one of those guys you have mentiond but, I dont think we stand a chance in getting any of those guys, mainly because we are not a team that needs a "rent A player" at the dealine. Also i dont see Sundin as a "rent a player" person. I dont think he is going to wave his no trade clause to become a rent a player and then be a free agent the next season. Where Sundin is now, he is an all star on a crappy team. If he is looking for a way out of Toronto, it would be in his best interest to stay on that crappy team and to keep racking up the points. If he continues the streak he is on now, he will finish top 10 in points this season, and since he is in his last year of his contract, a season like that would make him a wanted comodity for the following season by teams. However, if he leaves toronto at the trade deadline and goes to a team that is doing well like the Red Wings, his stats may tail off. The Wings have good chemistry, so finding a line for him to play on may hurt his stats, plus with the dats hank and homer line picking up so many points, Sundin may not be able to strive here the way he is in Toronto. Then when the season ends, and Sundin fishies with mediocre stats, hes not as wanted by other teams as he would be with top 10 stats. I think the only way he would wave his clause to come here is if he had some kind of guarantee at a long term deal with us so that he wouldnt have to test the market. The wings dont seem to be a team that can do that. We have enough money now, but we have to sign zetterberg i think after next season. If we sign a big guy like Sundin long term that gives us very little space to sign zetterberg, and while i beleive Zetterberg is loyal to detroit, i dont see him making an "Yzerman-esque" decision and taking a pay cut. Dont get me wrong, i love Sundin, hes one of my favorite players, and i would love nothing more but o have him here, but i would think he would want long term, and i dont think the wings can offer him that. Of course, i could be completely off base, which is not uncommon or me. I did no research before this post, so i may be completely wrong with everthing i just said. But i dont think we would have the money for a long term deal for a big guy like Sundin. Of course, salary caps increase each year, and we have to factor in the possibility of players retiring or not returning to the wings, so we may have the money long term to do this. To me, those are alot of "what ifs" But Man it would be sweet to get a guy like Sundin
