Wings' Datsyuk has fight fans among Blackhawks
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to redwingmachine's topic in General
I dont really have anything against the hawk players, and i really like a few of them like hossa and kane...i just cant stand their fans. So this is pretty cool to read. Kane may be arrogant, immature and like to beat up cab drivers, but atleast he shows respect like he did here...and hossa, well what can you really say, the guy is just awesome all around. -
Im still baffled as to why Ericsson is on the 1st pairing...I know we wanted to split of Lids and Rafs to strengthen the D, but putting an ineffective E with Lids doesnt make alot of sense to me. Kronwall should be with Lids and Big E with Salei

Anyone hear anything about maltby playing tonight? Gotta determine which jersey to wear tonight at the joe. Wanna wear maltby if hes ganna play to show respect, but if hes not in then i gotta wear my zetterberg jersey. Either way, wings win 4-1 zetterberg, franzen, hudler, lidstrom.

Yeah thats an oldie but a goodie. Hes got some pretty good interviews over the years. He would of made a good actor or comedian if he wasnt so damn good at hockey!

Shanny says he'll always feel like a Red Wing
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to One4TheWings's topic in General
I hear the organization really knows how to take care of its players too. Gotta love mike. Hes a loyal guy and treats players like family. What else could you ask for as a player? -
I remember they had softball games a few times as their "hockeyfests" that me nad my girlfriend went to. One was against retired Tigers and one was against a fire department i think. Is that what you guys are talking about? I havent heard of anything like that the last few years, but man they were always fun to go to. Got to see alot of your favorite players completely out of their element making fools of themselves playing softball, but suprisigly, a few of them were pretty good. I remember watching Lilja go up to bat and he refused to use both hands and would swing with only one hand on the bat. Ironically though, he was still a pretty good hitter lol

Kirk Maltby nearing 1 year, 2 way deal
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
i was hoping to see him get an offer somewhere. I thought Stevie was ganna give him a cheap contract in Tampa for some depth and veteran leadership. I hate to see guys retire in the minors. He probably wont be getting alot of NHL playing time on this years wings team unless injury (and even then hes not the first call up im sure). Just wish he would go out atleast still being a pro player ya know? -
Bill Guerin will NOT be offered a contract
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to FunkedUp's topic in General
But there is proof that he would put up those kind of numbers elsewhere. Look at his stats for the past 5 years. Hes put up those kind of numbers regardless of what team he was on. Islanders, blues, sharks, devils he has put up those numbers. Im not saying that he did get help from the penguins top line or ice time, but he had the same kind of numbers while playing on other teams. Thats all i was saying. And i think that is proof that he could continue to do that. -
Haha, i dunno it just never really caught my interest. I dont think i was the target audience lol. I was born in '87 so i missed the orginal by about a decade or so, and i never thought to watch any of the other ones since i never saw the original. Ive thought about sitting down to watch them all, but man that seems like a whole lot of work haha

Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to FunkedUp's topic in General
That whole post hurt my head. Implied this, idirectly that. Regardless of what your feelings are, facts are facts. The guy has scored over 40 points the last 5 seasons and that includes almost 2 full seasons with the islanders, and a season with te blues...so im not really understanding your whole rant. You took every last thing that Mac said and twisted it until you could make some kind of ass backwards response to it. You and my girlfriend would get along pretty well, you are both great at that. Guerin is a bonafide 40-50 point getter even in his late age PROVEN. Regardless of what team he is on. You can sit there and say he got his stats padded in pitts all you want, but go look at the last 5 season when he was with below par teams. He is worth above league minimum if guys like boogard and lebda are getting 1.5 a year...and i beleive thats ALL Mac was trying to say in his posts. -
As much as it sucks because we all want to go to the "good" games but cant afford the increased price, its smart business. my first reaction was "we all sit at home and watch the Wings games on TV and see tons of empty seats, why wouldnt they be lowering ticket prices to get fans in the door?" Then i thought about it and this does seem like it will increase profits in more than one way. 1) They probably assume that by putting the 37% off option for season ticket or package owners, that they will attract the people that go to a few games a season to possibly buy season tickets or a package (even im contempating this option and possibly spitting a package with a few friends). 2) The people that complained last year about ticket prices will see the increased prices for the "good" games and think they are being "money smart" and buy tickets for the cheaper games (this fixes the problem of having empty seats last season). Either way, they are still getting their money. They increase customer loyalty but offering the discount, while also hoping to improve attendance at the not so important games by making the tickets appear cheaper and more affordable (while not really lowering prices in the process) I dont like the idea, as i miss the days when tickets were affordable for everyone, but at the end of the day its still a business...

Hopefully a team picks him up. Ive always liked the guy, and really hated having to root against him since he put that pens jersey on... -
A thread made for the signing of Mitchell has all of 1 post actually mentioning his name...Only on LetsGoWings haha. Does anyone know how much the contract is for? I couldnt seem to find any information about the actual signing while trying to read my way through all the lidstrom doughty talk.

This may seem like a silly question, but does anyone know what number he will wear if he makes the team? What number did he wear with his 3 game stint call up last season? I know alot of times when players get called up they dont have a choice as to what number they get, and they change it when they get a full time spot. Just wondering what number he wears currently or will be looking to wear if he makes the team. Just curious.

Lilja: Red Wings only team to offer contract
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to Blueliner's topic in General
Is there any way to send ericsson down to grand rapids for the year and sign lilja and play him with salei? Or does he not have a two way contract anymore? Cause he was god awful for the majority of last year, and a pairing of lilja and salei wouldnt look bad at all in my book. Bot hcan block shots and like to hit a bit. -
DVR is set...though i think i still have the original airing on the same box haha

Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
My girlfriend, as much as she hates this fact, was born and raised in Michigan, which i beleive already puts a person at pretty high risk of being exposed to hockey early on in life. Her dad was always into hockey so she was always exposed to it and understood the game fairly well before we met. She also dated a kid that played hockey in high school so she would go to his games then as well. When we finally got together it was during the lockout season, so when we first got together she didnt understand the obsesssion i had. Luckily once hockey started back up, i eased her into the obsession. Thank god she had already been exposed to the sport or else the shock of the experience may have steered her away from me. She was always a moderate fan, but now she is what you would call a superfan, so it works out pretty well for me. Granted, she is a women, so sometimes she does pick her favorite players because due to how "pretty" the players are, but she also takes into account their hockey ability. Zetterberg is her favorite player which should be pretty obvious from that description (pretty and plays like a god). I think the best story to show how big of a fan she has become would involve a trip to comerica park a few years back when players from the red wings played a softball game against former Detroit Tigers. We were decked out in our wings gear and sitting about 3 rows back on the first base side. I was video taping as the players were warming up and all of a sudden Zetterberg walked out of the dugout and walked right by us infront of us. I of course and catching him on my camera trying to get his attention and to get him to wave, but as he passes by my camera pans over to my girlfriend who is shaking and crying out of mere excitement like an 11 year old girl at a Justin Bieber concert. She's embarassed by that story because she hates girls that do that kind of thing, but she couldnt stop she was so excited/overwhelmed at the mere site of him. Since then, we have met Zetterberg and many other players face to face and she has not had the same reaction so she has learned to contain herself, but as you can tell she is quite the fan. She also posts on these boards, but hopefully she wont see this and yell at me for posting haha
