I wanted to just do a search for a previous topic on this, but couldnt find anything. If there is a previous thread on this, mods please put it in there. I wanted to get some new stuff for this season. I really want to get one of my Blank Wings jersey's customized with Modano's name and number. I used to go to a place called Gameland that sold jerseys, shirts, hats and EVERYTHING you could think of, but they have recently either moved or went of business. They used to customize jerseys for pretty cheap also. So i was just wondering where people go for the wings gear and if anyone knows where i can get some stuff cheap including getting my blank jersey customized for cheap. I live in the Macomb/Utica area but am also in the Lansing area alot as well. Does anyone know of any good places around there to go for good wings gear?

Where do you buy your Red Wings Gear?

I keep hearing good things about fanaticU but can i send a jersey to them for customization? Or do i have to actually go to the store? Cause 12 and greenfield would cost me more in gas than just paying 6 bucks for shipping to sportsK, unless they have a location closer to macomb. -

Thanks, thats exactly what i was looking for. Pretty cheap customizations and alot of selection! Appreciate it! -
Is this directed towards me? I was basically trying to say the same thing you did but towards T.Low for acting like a prick to the to OP.

Thats how i figured it was going to be, although i would love to see Eaves get some time on the PP at the point. Hes got such a quick release and a hell of a wrister, plus a right handed shot. But, cant really go wrong with Mo

Red Wings might opt to keep Ritola at the expense of Miller
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to DSM's topic in General
But he wont be playing with cleary and Hudler. Whichever player stays will be on the 4th line, not the second or third. Does that change the situation at all? Miller obviously fits the role of a 4th liner better, which is the position that is available, but do we want to lose a potential 2nd or 3rd liner in by keeping him because hes not NHL ready yet? It seems like a tough decision to me. On one hand, Ritola could end up being a bust and the wings wouldnt look bad for getting rid of him while keeping your 4th line and PK strong and fast, but on the other hand he could turn out being the next Franzen or something and the wings look like fools for keeping a 4th liner over him. -

Does that mean that you think they are ganna dump Miller and use the extra cap to throw at mitchell? -
Not a whole lot of info in that article haha. Nothing really new, thats been the rumor for a while now. I understand why he wants to do it (so he can make money and build a joint arena for the pistons and Wings) but i dont think it would be a good idea because the Pistons are TERRIBLE haha. Does he know anythng about running a basketball team? Or does he just figure it would be the same as running any kind of pro sports team and just really likes the idea of moving them back to the city and getting a joint deal on the arena? I hope if he does it he can turn them around into the right direction. Should be ok since everything he touches turns to gold and is covered in pepperoni...

These are my thoughts exactly. Even if we lost miller or Ritoloa, Modano makes us a better team than either or both of them and gives us a better chance to win. Im not really sure why everyone is so hyped on Ritola. I dont really follow the griffins that much and have only seen him play when he gets called up and he wasnt all that impressive to me when he was here. I know that he is young and still developing so maybe there is something you guys know/see that i dont, so i wont throw to much judgement out on Ritola. However, i REALLLY like Miller. He can make our 4th line and PK stronger with his play, not to mention that as soon as he got here in Detroit his game really picked up. Coming into to Detroit i think he only had 1 goal the entire season, but ended with i think 10 here in Detroit. I think we really started to see what he was capable of and i think remaining on the team and letting him continue to show us would only be fair. However, i know that his role will be super limited here with the signing of Modano and Hudler, so he might not be getting the ice time that is needed for him to be the same kind of player. Either way, it seems like a lose lose since either we lose a guy with a ton of upside who seemed to be getting his career back on track and is a good short handed guy or you lose a guy that may very well be an untapped reservoir of potential in Ritola who could turn out to be the next Franzen. But we did gain Modano, and like i said he does make us stronger than either of the other two can. With that said...i like Miller and would like to see him stay. -
I will probably buy one if i can get one cheap from that china site. Though, i am in the running for a pretty good job in the next few weeks so if i get that i might fork over the extra cash to get a legit one. He has always been one of my favorite players, and i was more than excited to hear he was coming here. For those who think that its a dumb idea because its only a 1 year thing, i think that you are going to be suprised when he sitcks around for a second and maybe even a 3rd year. Well...maybe not a 3rd but i see him here for atleast 2 years. The guy can still play, and his role isnt to be the allstar on our team so i think hes going to really like playing here and his role will allow his body to last for a few more years. However, if i dont get the job, then i may just resort to getting a shirt with his name and number or a cheap knock off jersey from china if they do a decent job...

Never really saw Bobby Orr play, since he was before my time. All i ever hear about him, and all of his highlights are of him scoring goals and being very skilled offensively. I was just wondering, was he even a good Defensemen? Or was he just on of those guys that could skate fast that you put on the blueline to act as a 4th forward out there? I never see or hear anything about his defensive game, so i was just wondering if anyone knew if he was any good at defense or was heavily relied on for his offensive production and that was it.

I think the verification goal line in the net is long overdue and is a good idea. How would it work though? Would they have a second line exactly the distance of a full puck behind the original goaline? that way if any part of the puck touches that line its a defenite goal? Or how else would they be working it? That seems to make the most sense to me, but maybe there is a better idea out there. The 2 on 2 overtime seems crazy and probably wont happen, mainly because people would get tired reallllly quick haha Also, i dont think the no icing rule on the PK is going to go through. How else are teams going to get any relief when on the PK to get a line change? Taking away the icing of the puck would almost gurantee a goal on the PP everytime, especially if the pk is a 5 on 3. I understand that it will increase goals and more goals = more excitement= more money, but you got to draw the line somewhere. I think being down a man for 2 minutes is penatly enough rather than taking away the only way of getting releif when the Pk'ers have been on the ice for over a minute.

This guy was a master of the game. I'm kind of shocked to read some people talking about how his hits were illegal. Im not saying that the hits arent illegal on todays standards, but they seemed pretty standard in the Stevens Era. The guy may have been waking a thin line with many of his its (leaving feet, hitting high, hitting late) but Hits were a part of the game then, and this guy was awesome at it. I know hockey has changed alot over the last few years, im not saying that players are "softer" but the league is taking alot more precautions (and i respect that, noone wants to see anyone get hurt or anything) but back in the day, alot of people were watching hockey because they loved the physicality of it, and man could Stevens produce. Im not saying that im one of those guys that love violence and love to see people get hurt, but man i miss old school hockey. Yes there was more violence and a higher potential of getting hurt, but there were a hell of alot less questionable penalties. Nowadays the refs blow the whistle if a player looks at someone the wrong way, or if his hand comes off his stick to scratch his nose. I liked the old school hockey where the refs let the good ol boys play! A penalty was a penalty back then, and thats how it should be! It was truly a sad day when Stevens retired! I got really excited 2 seasons ago when Kronwall really started to step up his physical game. I could see shades of Scott Stevens in his hits and my eyes would light up when i would see Kronner line someone up (I.e. Havlat). But ever since his last few injuries he has really slowed down that aspect of his game. Its kind of dissapointing to me, because Kronner isnt the best defensive Dmen but his physical play was making up for the areas that he was slacking in. But now to me Kronner either needs to become more of an offensive Dmen or bring back that physical play to make up for his flaws. His offense is picking up, but man id like to see him and Stuart together bruising some players up (legally).

Ah nice nice, who says you cant learn about other sports on a hockey forum? Thanks for the clarification. Makes sense now.

I'm not here to disagree with you, I'm usually the guy that goes out of his way to say the "This is America, we speak American" kind of thing. But i never understood how American football somehow got the name football over American Soccer. I mean in American football, a foot only touches the ball like what 1/20th of the time? Where as in soccer, all you can use is a foot to hit the ball. Always found that weird. Yup, my post has no relevance i know, i just always found that weird and wondered if anyone knew why?

I've never seen the problem of calling yourself a fan of many teams. Obviously, a person has their FAVORITE team that they root for above all else, but i dont see how watching and cheering for another team makes you any less of a die hard fan of your favorite team. I'm a hockey fan. Period. My FAVORITE team to watch has been and will always be the DETROIT RED WINGS. Am i a fan of other teams? Of course. Because my love for hockey runs deep. And i dont see anything wrong with saying that. So yes, i have seen myself become a bigger Tampa fan than i already was. Vinny and St. Louis have been two of my favorite players to watch, so ive been a Tampa fan. Then they get Stamkos, Gange, and Ellis and of course Yzerman. So now Tampa is at the top of my list of Eastern Conference teams. This team in my book is going to be very exciting to watch and i cant wait for the season to start. Again, i will never root against the Red Wings, but i dont see any problem for rooting for other teams at the same time. Again, im a hockey fan and enjoy watching other teams play as well. I know some people dont agree with this and are ONLY Wings fans, and im not saying that you are wrong or any less of a hockey fan as i am. Im just saying i really enjoy the sport, and i choose to watch more than just the Red Wings, but that doesnt mean i dont bleed Red and White. Im the same way with other sports. Im a die hard baseball and football fan as well. My favorite baseball team is by far the Detroit Tigers. As a Tigers fan i really only truly despise one team...the Yankees. I'm also a fan of the Red Sox, the Cubs, The Braves, and the Phillies. Same with football. My favorite team is the Lions (i know, thats sad but i dont care) but i also root for the Saints (before it was the popular thing to do) and the Patriots (yes because we all love Tom Brady). I dont see a problem with rooting for other teams as long as you know where your true allegence falls. I would never root for any of these teams when they are playing my favorite teams, but i dont see why that means i cant root for them in general and hope they do well.

Dammit, you beat me to it. Pretty hard to call someone a ****** when he himself is quite the *****, and could use said "******" products.

I dont get why people are saying overpayment here. I mean i see their points when they say his play production has gone down each year, but this guy is still very young and will be on the first line for the rangers probably. I think hes going to be pretty good for the Rangers and 3 million is a pretty small price to pay for that kind of player. I mean look around the league there are a ton of guys making that price for much less production. I think thats a pretty good caphit for a player like that. I know LA was a good team last year, but i think he will have a pretty solid year playing on the first line in New York.

You cant possibly think that was a good impression of Lebda can you? There was nothing funny about this skit whatsoever. The only bigger waste of space then Brett Lebda are these two clowns trying to mock him. Toronto may have wasted 3 million on Lebda, but ive just wated 4 minutes of my life that i can never get back.

With a contract like that, if he were to retire before his contract is up does he still get paid until the age the contract lists? Or is the contract completely voided? I know some of you are saying that the contract is void if he retires but does that just mean his salary wouldnt count against the Cap after they retire but the team is still on the hook to pay him until the end of his contract? So basically he can sit on his but at home an just collect the money watching the games from tv? Or is the contract completly voided and the team is no longer obligated to pay him the remainder of the contract if he decides to retire early?
-
No no, that would only be if he was going to the penguins or another cup contending team that would win the cup for him instead of him going to a team and making them a cup contender with his own skills.
-
I completely understand the fact that they might have to move Sharp, but i just dont see the Hawks making a trade to make our team better while making theirs worse regardless if they are getting 3 players for the price of 1. They are getting 3 below average players for 1 top 6 forward, and it just doesnt make sense. If the hawks want to keep fans and atleast stay contenders not only in the central but in the league as a whole, getting rid of Shark for cleary would be a dumb move. Not to mention Cleary has a no trade clause i he is not going to wave it to go play for Chicago, even though it is the team that drafted him like the OP is arguing. Noone is going to want to waive his NTC from a cup contending team to go to a team that doesnt really have a playoff bound squad anymore just so that he can go back to the team that drafted him (and cut him) when he was younger. The OP's arguemennts just dont make sense at all and he comes off as a guy who thinks the wings should get everything they want and give up little to nothing for it. Its not how things work in the cap era.

As much as i dont like to agree with Crymson on, well anything, this trade really makes no sense. I dont see any reason why chicago would make this trade. Meech really has no value for the Hawks nor does Mursak, so i dont see why they would be trading for them. Meech is a below average defensemen at best, and would still probably end up being a 7th D-men even in Chicago. Not to mention with his contract, he would probably be best as trade bait, but with his low salary he wouldnt be traded due to the cap relief. He doesnt make the team better at all, and really just seems like a a guy you threw in to increase the value that chicago would be getting in return for Sharp, even though adding Meech and Mursak to Cleary dont really increase the value at all. Not to mention chicago, the defending champs would never trade Sharp to a division rival who has the potential already to finish first in the division....especially after the Haweks have already lost so much. Plus you are saying they are making this trade for "cap relief", but then you say that Huet is going to be sent down. That clears up almost 6 million right there which is much more cap relief than getting rid of sharp PLUS they dont lose the offense that Sharp brings to the table. It really comes down to the fact that Cleary for Sharp does not make Chicago better, and honestly doesnt really give them a whole lot of cap relief. Its a completely one sided trade. A team looking to repeat its championship is not going to trade away one of its best players to a division rival that could prevent them from even making the playoffs, especially with all the loss that Chicago has experienced. I feel like you are looking at this trade as a red wings fan, and not as a smart GM. Dont get me weong, I like Sharp alot and would want him on this team because he can score goals, but there is just no way Chicago is willing to lose another 2nd liner without getting something beneficial in return, and this trade really gives them nothing that improves their team.
