Why has there been so much talk about trading miller? I understand the talk of trading meech, but miller actually brings something to the team. I didnt even hear his name in thoughts about trades/waiving till yesterday. Where did they come from? Was there something written about possibly trading/waiving him? Or is that just LGW'ers speculating? I like Miller, and dont want to see him go. He complements the Red Wings playing style, along with Eaves, and brings alot to the team for a good 4th liner. Plus his contract is lite, which i know is what makes him movable, but i think it would suck to get rid of him. Also, i dont understand how some people still dont see Modano as a good addition for the wings if he ever decides to sign. The guy isnt exactly what we need, as everyone knows we would like to have a good Dmen added who is gritty and can hit/stick up for the team. But dont people get that Modano makes the wings a dangerous team containing 3 full lines that can score AND play defensively sound? I figured after watching the team struggle to score so much last year (because of injuries and bad luck) people would understand that having scoring threats on the top 3 lines is a good thing. you can never have to much scoring. Dont get me wrong, i too would like to stregthen the D-line as it looked pretty shaky last year, but Modano makes the team better regardless, and is definetly a great addition.

Best part of this video is about 5:20 in when Steve and Shanny are walking out of the arena Shanny: "you were great, it was an inspiration for you to come back" Stevie: "How's your horn feel?" On a side note, it was nice to see Sean Avery at the end of this video. I think this was the last time he was humble and not full of himself. Dont get me wrong, i love how he plays and hes entertaining on and off the ice, but it was nice seeing him the way a red wings player is suppose to conduct himself and not in the manner that he represents himself these days haha

http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/story/13633947/central-blackhawks-will-have-tough-time-retaining-top-spot/rss Saw this article on yahoo's homepage. Kind of a joke in my book. After bashing the Hawks for all of ther losses and not filling holes, the guy says the Hawks are heading:Sideways? How does that work? If you are the defending champs and are moving sideways, doesnt that mean that you are in as good of shape as you were the season before? When clearly the Hawks are not? Then he says that the Wings had a terrible start to the season, due to our injuries, but then finished very strong. And then says that the wings are heading:Down? How does that work? I dont get writers these days. Then he says that we are to old of a team (which I dont really understand because we dont have that many vetrans o nthe team anymore. Lids, Rafs, drapes, homer and ozzy as a backup? the rest are younger guys). But then says that we would be improved if we add Modano...a 40 YEAR OLD. This guy is contradicting himself in so many ways its not even funny. He Picks St Louis to be Heading:Up. Which i kind of agree with since they got good goaltending and have a good young core, so yes they are heading up, but i dont see them winning the central or even finishing second at this point. What do you guys think?

The Blues to Win the Central This year?
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to Hank Dats 'N Homer's topic in General
Im assuming you left the word "say" out. I figured it was implied when the writer said that every team was heading down besides the Blues and Hawks. Add that with the aritcle stating that the hawks are going to have a hard time retaining the top spot that kind of means that the Blues would have to win the central. Lets see...if every team is said to be heading DOWN in the standings...and everyteam finished behind the hawks that leaves first and second place open. Since the author says that the hawks are going to have a hard time retaining the top spot that would have to imply that the only team that he projects to be heading UP would have to take the first place spot. Atleast thats how logic would have it... -
I expect a pretty decent rebound year from cleary this year. He had a string of bad luck with injuries last season, and you could tell it really affected his play. I think he will be back to his old self and hopefully see some good ice time this season to show last year was just an off year for him.

As much as i like sharp, and would love him on our team so he would stop scoring on us finally, there is noway this trade happens. chicago would not make a trade that would make us a stronger team and ultimately make them a weaker one in the same process. Not ganna happen, plus cleary has a no trade clause, Rittola has potential and we know the wings dont trade away potential often. That and i dont see the wings doing a sign and trade with Meech. Would look bad on the organization...

Anyone got a link to this one? I almost forgot about it and would love to see it again

I like how he plays the game. Dont really care if hes a douchebag or not. Avery is the biggest douchebag in the league and hes still one of my favorite players. I never said bring Comrie here, cause i know he would clash with the coaching staff. I just said ive always liked him.
-
I've always liked Comrie, but we are already stocked with centers. Plus if we sign Modano then we definetly dont need another center. Thoguh i think our biggest weakness is D and we need to sign a good defensemen first and for most in my book.
-
ganna need to sign a good goaltender for them to be a contender at anything. Not really a strong market for that either so i dont know what they have planned...

Man Stevie must have been walking into Tampa WIDE EYED and a smile on his face. Being in Detroit for so long, hes seen Holland have to deal with very little cap space. Going to Tampa and using their available cap space to make a big splash in free agency makes Stevie look like a kid in a candy store. Good for him! Hope Tampa will be a contender this year, atleast making the playoffs. Hes made some significant changes so i see goo things! Go Stevie And Go Bolts!

Man i feel bad for blackhawk fans. I know this sounds like sarcasm but im serious. It would suck if the Wings just won the cup and then the very next month they traded or lost to free agency alot of the guys that made an impact and got them to the cup finals. They lost alot of good young talent in a very short period of time after that same young talent won them a stanley cup. I wouldnt say the Hawks are doomed for years to come, but they are ganna have to start building from within again. I know it would suck pretty bad to say goodbye to what a 5th of your team?
-
Why did Hamhuis get such a big contract? We play Nashville alot and i didnt really think he was a high impact guy or anything. Maybe i havent seen him play enough but for a team like Vancouver to give a 6 year 4.5 mil a year contract seems weird for a guy like Hamhuis. I know hes young and a big bodied D but i didnt think he was a 4.5 mil kind of guy.

Dont let it dissapoint you to much. Ive heard the exact opposite about Mike. Heard he is great with fans. Ive had freidns that have met him and said he was awesome to meet and didnt have a bad word to say about him. Of course there are going to be stories of the "bad" interactions people ahve with him, because noone is perfect. People are more likely to make public the interactions where people come off less than flattering, and are less likely to make public the interactions where the athlete is polite and great. Everyone has bad days, and you cant please everyone.

where are all these updates coming from? Im using TSN UFA tracker but nothing is reported there about any of this stuff. Are you watching a feed somewhere?
-
Where was this heard? Any source or just wishful thinking?
-
Does anyone know what channel TSN is with direct TV? I cant find it at all. Can find the NHL channel but no TSN.

Ah man, why did you have to say Dallas Drake's name? I was just not getting used to him being gone and being okay with it. Now i miss him all over again! Man, was he good for the team or what? Didnt put up big numbers but man he played his ass off night in and night out for that damn cup! Any chance he wants to come out of retirement for one more cup?

I dont get all the Bert hate. The guy pretty much ran the team when EVERYONE was injured. He plays decent defense, impossible to know off the puck, and likes to bang bodies every now and again. I love the guy and hope to god he stays, and id be happy if it were for another 2 years. I dont think another "cleary type player" will do much. Cleary was pretty invisible all year last year. I like him, but he didnt play like we are used to seeing him play. the only thing that cleary does better than bert is speed in my opinion. I say keep Bert and try and get the best bang for whatever buck we have left. I'd love to see afinogenov here, but i dont think we wil have enough to get him, so try and fill the third or fourth line with a cheap free agent somewhere. Keep miller and eaves too in my opinion.

Red Wings Sign Doug Janik to 2 year deal
Hank Dats 'N Homer replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
As good as he is at being a shot-blocking grit guy, i think he has the potential to be a consistent 3rd liner, maybe even a 2nd liner if there are injuries. The guy has a WICKED wrister, and i would love to see him put into a more offensive role. dont get me wrong, hes done a great job at what the wings brought him in for, but when i first heard we signed him i thought was hoping we were going to be getting the type of player that the sens drafted 29th overall. Hopefully he will get some good 3rd line minutes this season with the departure of williams, and lack of free agent signings sure to come. Hopefully Abby Helm and Draper can make up the 4th line and eaves can stick on the 3rd. Id love to see him have a 20 goal season like hes capable of. -
We have our fair share of bandwagon fans. Although, i think the majority of ours just expect the wings to be good since we've been good for so long, so many people dont start following them till playoffs because in their minds thats all that matters. I never got that though, why jump on the wagon in thefinal stride of the season and root for the team if you dont know anytihng about the players? Stupid if you ask me.
-
I dont see this as even possible. I dont think we have alot of cap space ourselves which means that any offer we make to him, anahiem can probably match. PLUS hes like the future of the franchise, so im sure they would trade someone else just to increase capspace to resign him. Dont get me wrong, i would love to see it, i just dont this its ganna happen.

I think the obvious answer for me as well as all wings fans is NO. Yzerman can do no wrong in my eyes, nor do i think the guy would ever do ANYTHING to compromise his relationship not only with the Red Wings, but the city of Detroit as well. He is and forever will be welcomed in my mind. My man love runs so deep for him, that i now will be rooting for Tampa in the East. I want nothing but to see the man succeed at everything he does, and im sure he will do just that. I hope that he can be the savior in Tampa that he was here in Detroit.....as long as they dont beat us in the finals and that eventually he comes back home!
-
someone sippin back the sauce?
-
I have work Yzerman jerseys to games for years. And i have about 20 other jerseys, 8 of which are current or other former red wings. Its a good luck charm to wear my Yzerman jersey to games. I dont always wear it, but i wear it often when signs tell me too. My girlfriend and I always wear the same players jersey as it has always brought us luck. So if there is a sign that we should wear our Yzerman jeresy's (for instance the game 4 against the sharks we got tickets the day before the game, and found that we were in row 19 so we knew it was a Stevie night) so we wore our Yzerman jerseys and the wings crushed the sharks. Sometimes we wear out Zetterbergs, but hte point is we have always worn out Yzerman jerseys with pride and we always will. The guy is the reason this is hockeytown. Him moving on to another franchise wont change that! And hopefully we are just loaning him to Tampa for a few years before he comes back here for the full time job.
