Hank Dats 'N Homer

Ive read in multiple articles that Bertuzzi doesnt want to be anywhere but here and that the money issue will be worked out. He likes playing in this atmosphere and likes the role that he has on the team. Combine that with all the Holland interviews saying that he loves how Bert plays and wants to have him back next season, and id say we have a contract in the waiting. I dont see a huge raise by anymeans as i beleive Bert is still seeing money come in from previous teams, so i dont think the wings will have to give him much more than what he was getting this season. With Williams more than likely gone, and the possibility of Lidstrom taking a pay cut, i dont think we will have a problem filling a competitive roster, one with Bertuzzi. I would look to him having a comparable season to this year with hopefully less penalties. Hopefully he can still get 20 goals playing on the 3rd line all season. he got alot of his goals this season when he was getting 1st and second line minutes when we had alot of injuries, But hopefully with Hudler returning we will be able to field a good scoring 1st 2nd and 3rd line.

Yeah they are alot faster and dont get beat to many pucks, and since they are faster theny dont take stupid penalties when they battle for pucks. Not to mention both are great on the PK and are defensivly responsible. Chicago can keep Kopecky so they can buy him out in the next few seasons...

Am i missing something, or did this guy only have a total of 21 points the entire season? Whoe the hell is going to say "look what he did after the olympic break, if we extrapolate that over an entire season hes a hall of famer?"i was unaware a few weeks of good play after 5 seasons of injury stricken weak seasons turned a player 4th liner into a 1st line sniper. This thread id ridiculous. The guy has all of 53 total points in his NHL career...why would we miss a guy like that? They come a dime a dozen and are not anything special or worth giving the contract to that Chicago gave Kopecky. The only reason he got the contract he got with the money he got was because it sweetened the deal for Hossa to go to chicago. kopecky and Hossa are best freinds from what ive heard, and Kopecky had alot to do with the fact that Hossa chose Detroit last season. Chicago knew that if they could show Hossa they had a good team PLUS had his Best Friend under contract, then chances are Hossa would follow. Regardless if this played a role or not, the guy only have 21 this season. A Whole 2 points higher than last season with the Red Wings and i i believe we we are all in agreement that he was uneffective in every aspect of the game last seaon. How did 2 more points make him someoone we should be missing? What a dumb thread.

Hopefully history will repeat itself. Its been shown in the past that when Franzen starts to heat up he keeps going strong for a while. Especially in playoffs...Lets pray his knee is good and the puck keeps finding the back of the net off of his stick!

This pretty much sums it up for me....people need to just let it go. Moore made more than he ever would as a player, and is in perfectly good health. Was it a stupid play by bert? YEAH. And im the biggest Bert fan there is. Was it dirty? I would say yes, it was dirty because of the fact that the game was out of reach and he was going for revenge. But how many times do we see this as hockey fans? I mean one of the biggest problems that we see as wings fans is not seeing players stick up for their teammates. Thats all he was doing. Protecting his teammate. Sending a message. It would be one thing if he set out to break Moore's neck. He didnt. He wanted to fight. Cant we just leave it at that? Look at Mac's hit on Claude. Is that not comparable? he was trying to get some revenge. If Mac would have broken lemieux's neck would it not be the same? Im not throwing darren under the bus, hes just one example i can think of as a Wings fan, but i know of a ton of hockey players on other teams that would stick up for their teammates just like Bert did. Its part of the game. Its sad that it had to end the way it did, but if Bert knew that it was ganna result hte way it did, i assure you he wouldnt have done it. And honestly, this happened when he was on the nucks, do we as Wings fans really have to defend it just because hes on our team now? I mean cant people just get a fresh start? Regardless of your religious beliefs, whatever happened to forgiveness. You dont have to root for the guy, or even like him, but quit making him re-live the one moment of his life that he regrets the most. I'm a Wings fan first, and a hockey fan second, and i forgive him either way, and ill root for him no matter what jersey hes in. it has nothing to do with him being a wing.

Its a nice change of pace from playing the Coyotes when we couldnt even find a fan let alone one that would join in on the topic and have some fun! +1 for sharks fans in my book. some of their stuff is actually really funny too! I gained alot of respect for them during the regualr season, but yeah ive they really gained alot more of it throughout this series. I dont know where everyones hatred for Doan comes from, i love the guy. Exactly what you want from a captain. Leadership, tough, gritty, can still score. Sometimes when you play a certain team, its hard to determine who the Captain is on that team unless you are looking for the C on their chest. Doan is one guy that as soon as he steps one skate on the ice you KNOW that he is the captain. I have alot of respect for the team, but i have even more respect for Doan.

Im not trying to start a conspiracy theory or anything, i was just curious with this question. Why did Chicago get to start their series on the day that most series are in their second game? Seems like they got more rest/preparation then other teams. I mean i would understand if they finished the season later than some other teams, but they finished the same day the wings did. I could understand if there was a travel issue, but the wings have a further traveling distance again. So i was just wondering if there was a reason that chicago got a longer break before their first game.

Haha, i love the kid. Him and Toews are great. I dont see a problem with the guy making fun of himself. Keeps things loose in the locker room and his teammates love it. Dont get me wrong, i want them to lose in the first round haha, but i have nothing against him or Toews. Kane cant play D thats really the only thing i would say bad about the guy, but i wont fault the kid for not being able to grow a beard and trying to do something else for s***s and giggles. Some people need to loosen up, and get off their "red wings high horse" sometimes. Like Z never had anything that resembled a mullet the last two season...and i dont remember abdelkader or Helm having a manly beard going last year. I dont know, i can agree and disagree with what you say. I've seen them show some fights on NHL on the fly and stuff, but i feel like each and everyday, more rules are being made to keep players from dropping the gloves. Bettman wants more goals and wants to speed up the game, so it seems as though he is trying to eliminate the enforcer and occassional fighter in general. Maybe NHL is showing more of the fights now because they are much less common? I remember 10 years ago when it seemed as though every game had at least one dropped gloves fight. Now adays, we are lucky if the refs allow the players to get a face wash in. I dont think taking fighting completly out of the game is the way to go, because i feel it draws as many fans in as goal scoring. Most of us have been fans for years and years, and i for one can say that as much as i freak out at a great Datsyukian Deke, i freak out equally great if i see a a guy drop the gloves and give us a great entertaining fight. I know it sounds barbaric and all, but violence sells. As much as i agree with what you are saying about the league making a big deal about a fight (even if it is just a hugfest) i think its because fighting is so much more rare. There are still big hits, but 10 years ago those big hits would be followed by a big fight from a teammate trying to avenge or protect his teammates. nowadays, a big hit happens we usually se a stopage in play due to a penalty or because the player stays down for a few seconds and the ref blows the whistle to prevent a fight. Dont get me wrong, i dont want players getting hurt, thats not what im saying at all. But, violence is a part of the sport that i feel draws alot of fans. I havent seen a whole lot of fights the past few years that have truly drawn my eyes. Alot of fights now adays are hugfests like you say. I feel Bettman has chased alot of players that are skilled in being rough and tough. And without this turning into another "Pro-enforcer" thread, i will just say again, that i dont think they are promoting fighting more than they used to, but they are making a bigger deal about it because its not as common.

So i was watching HNIC this weekend and saw Thornton go down pretty hard into the boards. Wondering if anyone knows his status for the rest of the season or playoffs for that matter. Yahoo has him listed as Day to Day with a lower body injury, but is San Jose just down playing the injury? It looked pretty serious to me, and it would have to be serious if it kept him out of a game since hes never missed one since being traded to San Jose. I asked this for 2 reasons. 1) a San Jose vs Red wings matchup in playoffs is still possible and San Jose losing one of their best players would really effect the game and 2) Joe is hte second leading scorer on my Fantasy team and i want to know if i should drop him or not since this week is the seminfinals haha. Anyone hear anything?

I was looking at NHL.com and saw that the points leader is Sedin with 99, and it looks like he will have no problem breaking 100. It got me wondering, will the Wings have a 100 point player in the near future? Datsyuk has come close twice with 97 two years straight, but this year is proving to be different (Im not saying hes not playing well or hes going downhill, im just saying with our team changing so much, his role has changed), and Z was close one year with 92, but he is a bit injury prone. I know our style of play is a 2 way game, alot different then those teams that have 100 point players, and i know that our BEST scorers are also out BEST defensive forwards, so they are playing different roles than some 100 point players that just worry about offense. It just got me wondering, are we ganna see Dats or Z hit 100 points one day? or any Red Wing for that matter? I know this year has been a struggle for our team, and Z leads our team i think with about 64-65 points, and im not making this thread because of the crummy offensive year we have had, i was just curious in general. What do you guys think?
