it'll be hard to add those types of players here .......only way i can see it happening is if its a 1-2 yr deal max type deals before all of our younger guys get decent raises ( cleary, franzen, filppula, hudler, lebda etc..)
-
hes not that good ...........only oilers players id take are jason smith and lupul
-
And le tthe arguing commence ! lol You did think we could get smyth ........and the only reason i said it not likely to happen was cause at the time we had to resign schneider and possibly markov but now with the timonen signing , keeping those 2 guys is pretty much not gonna happen now , i still think its nearly impossible to get smyth and i wouldnt hold my breath on it happening , but i think if we brought up our younger cheaper d men , forget bertuzzi then smyth could be an option especially if he really wants to be here ( as the rumors say, but i dont believe everything i read) I can see smyth taking a bit less to go to a team he really wants to go to As for guerin he did not play the whole season with thornton so i dont know wtf your talking about , he got 8 goals in 16 games in sj which averages out to 32 goals in 64 games which will add up to 35-40 goals in a season ..........as i said , we can get alot worse players then bill guerin to come here on a one year deal cool thanks for the info i just thought the whole bonus was shifted to the next season , i didnt know you can pay off most of the bonus if you had cap space from that season , thats good news.......if the cap goes to 50.5 next year thats even better news for us
-
really ?? the whole bonus they get doesnt count against the cap fhe following year ?? thats good , weird though i thought it did for some reason, i wont complain as much as i liked markov at that price he can take a hike lol , id rather let the kids play .........and i know we dont usually allow young kids to come in right away but if kindl is ready id bring him up , he almost made the team last year , why wait if hes good enough ?? It could be to our benefit to bring him up and let him learn from lidstrom and chelios while he's still got the chance
-
anyone know how much cap space we lost this season due to chelios and hasek ?? 300k for chelios right ?? hasek 900k?? Thats 1.2 mill we already lost lol , id rather just give chelios the 1.150 you know he'll get it anyways , and we got enough players to resign next year , if we get bertuzzi back id rather just give him 2.5-3 mill for one year , none of this bonus bs, if not then take a hike , next year with all those guys needed to resign we could of already lost 2 million in cap space Well i did say i didnt think it would happen , but i think its possible , it would just take alot of work , cross out bertuzzi , bring in the younger cheaper d men as quincey and meech as the 7th guy , forget schneider hes a goner , and your probably right about markov but i dont see any team giving him 3.5+ ........maybe 3 mill, 3.25 per i wouldnt mind having a guerin say come here for a 1 yr 4 mill offer , its only a one year deal and playing with datsyuk he can get 35-40 goals
-
you just said if we dont resign matty then why would we get souray ............then why would you bring up rafalski ??? you do know some team will offer him 5+ per year
-
pav is making 6.7 per year , he shouldnt have to need zetterberg for him to perform
-
i dont think it will happen at all but i think it can happen smyth 5.5 datsyuk 6.7 filppula 710k sammy 1.2 zetterberg 2.65 holmstrom 2.25 franzen 940k cleary 660k grigorenko 858k kopecky 500k draper 2.1 maltby 888k ( some extra forward from rapids ??) lidstrom 7.6 regher 2 kronwall 3 lebda 650k quincey 510k chelios 850k meech 500k hasek 2.5 ozzie 850k 43.916 ( including 500k for the extra forward) we can trade for regher , before anyone complains yes im sure the flames wouldnt trade him to us or anyone for that matter .......just replace him by markov and add an extra 500k ........im sure most will say add schneider , but by keeping markov over schneider we get to keep an extra 2.5 for the cap for next year ( if matty is given a 2 yr 5 mil per ) next year we got alot of players to sign filppula ( id say we'd resign him for a 3-4 yr deal at 2 mill per ) grigorenko ( if he does well he could get around the 2 mill mark or just go back to russia) cleary ( he'd get around the 2 mill mark) draper ( should take a 1 mill deduction) chelios( same price range) quincey ( id resign him at a lebda type deal , 750-800k for 4 yrs ) meech ( wont get much ) ozzie ( likely will be back if we want him to , no one would take him ) hasek ( probably replaced by howard so that should be 1.5+ cap space we get back) lidstrom ( if i were holland id give lidstrom the new cap max, around 9 mill and then give lidstrom maybe 5 million the year after when zetterberg gets his big deal ) anyways going back to smyth .........i think it can happen but it would require alot of work and i dont think it will happen with alot of our guys getting raises in the next few years , plus we got a smyth type player in holmstrom for a hell of a bargain price , i see us more going for 1-2 year contracts, guys like bertuzzi, guerin ,forsberg who can help us but wont require a longterm deal like youll see the unrestricted free agents getting this summer
-
we got to many mike peca type players as it is
-
Just talked to Ken Holland and he said the team will have to make some tough decisions in the days ahead. Evidently Schneider, Markov, Bertuzzi and Hasek's agents all have much higher salary expectations than Holland had expected. Holland said the team will sign one or two of those players, but not likely more than that. Holland blamed the large salaries being dished out over the last few weeks as the primary reason expectations for agents/players have skyrocketed. http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2007/06/ba...bus_agents.html

sammy had powerplay time and the past few seasons had lots of chances to play with zetterberg , not hard to get 15-20 goals under those circumstances yup , sammy is awful , the people here who are arguing to keep him , want him here cause hes making 1.2 and getting 14-20 goal seasons , i guess there not paying attention to his play on the ppl and his constant turnovers -

weak excuse ????? LMAO the team as a whole did nothing in the post season , marty had good regular seasons , its not an excuse its a fact , one player doesnt doesnt make a team win a series by themselves unless its a goalie , marty had a 15 and 17 goal season in boston i think its more then just one decent season , and in the other season there he had 8 goals in 59 games , and after he left boston he had a 14 and 13 goal season ( Since your so obsessed with stats ) For the type of player lapointe is those are good seasons , he was never a 20 goal scorer so i dont no wtf your talking about, if you just wanna talk about +/- he was + 12 his 1st year , -19 when they finished 7th and -5 his 3rd , granted not great but neither was samuelsson at +1 this past season ........brad richards was -19 so i guess he sucked too , numbers dont always tell the truth but you wouldnt know that Also, his goal production was not anything to brag about, again considering that he had lots of good players around him. ------Im not bragging about his goal productions but it is a nice amount for a player who isnt suppose to score and wtf you talkiing about good players around him ?? its not like he played with thornton and the best bruins players Its hard to log good +- numbers when you play with weak teams with no good goalie and no defense , again stop looking at that stat cause it doesnt always tell the truth , if you put draper in chicago and he was -14 would you say he sucks ?? Again doesnt tell the truth If the guy can't log a good +/- on a great team, what does that say about him? -------he was + 12 in his 1st year at boston but you dont mention that , 2nd year you said they finished 7th:?? That doesnt make it a great season , he was -19 in 59 games , i cant remmeber that season specfically but maybe boston was struggling and during the last 20 + they fought to make it into 7th ?? Regardless he did miss 20 games where he could of cut it down , and his last year there he was -5 not great by any stretch of the imagination but not as awful as you seem to think it is , again sammy was only +1 nothing to brag about either , and his next 2 seasons he played for the awful hawks You do realize that Sammy was a +27 in '05-'06, with 45 points, yes? That isn't the mark of a bad defensive player. Has Sammy ever pulled a rep as a bad defensive player? No. Has Marty? Absolutely--constantly. That's the point. -----------------See your a joke man you only see what you wanna see you dont mention the average +1 this past season or his previous -21 back to back seasons , and your delusional if you think playing witth the wings wasnt the reason he was +27, and your marty constantly is laughable Ah, I don't think that the SportsNet description is the be-all, end-all of a player's capabilities. Ever seen Cleary's description? They still refer to him as lazy, with a sub-par work ethic. ------------ever heard of players stats dont always tell the tale of a players capabilities ????? Obviously not You wanna keep talkin stats when boston finished 1st , they were 12th on goals allowed in the season , hardly 1st place numbers for a "great" team as you put it , there defense was never great , and alot of other teams were close to them so they could of easily been 15-20 in the goals allowed, i dont know where you get tthis idea of great defense and great goaltending , 2nd season they were 24th in the league in goals allowed , and the last season he was there they were , 7th in goals allowed which seemed to be the only decent year they had in goals allowed Again stop lookin at the stats and nice cover up by saying if marty got 70 pts it would be ok if he was -20 , thats your little story your using to explain brad richard's -19 season .........he had 70+ pts so its ok lol , as if i havent said it enough marty lapointe isnt a goal scorer and hes not a 50-70 pt guy , 10-15 goals for what he brings to the table is good , and again stop looking at the stats they dont always tell the true story of a player , but if you wanna play it that way sammy wasnt impressive before he came here Anyways its pretty obvious we wont agree with one another on this subject -
cool thanks for that , dont know if i can believe it though , sometimes things get way exagerated .......... i still find it hard to believe they would trade him , and that they would trade him to the wings , it would have to be a 3 way deal , it would be really great if he was here and to play with nick and chelios and eventually be one of the main guys when there gone What do you think he would get on the free market ? if he was traded to us do you think he would resign for a 5 yr 3.5 to 4 mill per ?? or you think if he went on the free agent market he would get more ? Who do you think we'd have to give up to get him ?? And dont involve kronwall cause hes not going anywhere ill get laughed at again but i dont care ........... i think if we threw in lilja who is making 1 million would fit in nicely for them especially considering they might be going after smyth , maybe jiri hudler who wouldnt be making much and could potentially score 20 goals ........and before most of you bash me you gotta take into consideration that he could walk away at seasons end and they could get nothing , we could even throw in a pick forget about lilja i just realized hes got a 1 yr deal left like regehr lol ............unless adding him with hudler and a high prick if he resigns would be good enough , anyways theres no way i see him leaving calgary
-
theres no way malkin is going anywhere .........im guessing you read the eklund rumor about getting Regehr , it did get me thinking that maybe they drafted esposito , a former 1st overall pick to use as trade bait to get a defencemen, i saw on eklund he suggested trading whitney which is just ridiculous , they got problems on defense so there gonna trade there best young d man ?? They got enough talent on offense if they make a trade i wouldnt be surprised if it involved esposito , and the flames do have problems on offense, but i wouldnt be surprised if they used esposito to trade with anyone , not just the flames

kindlwillbegreat replied to BowmansBrain's topic in General
i just cant help but find it funny how most of you didnt put ron francis on your list , hes been underrated his whole career and i guess hes still getting under appreciated it after , he was a really good player and will get in this year for sure , won cups , carried carolina to the finals and ended his career with one of the highest point totals ever NHL Totals 1731 549 1249 1798 playoffs .....171 46 97 143 ya i agree about dino ........dont forget glenn anderson isnt in yet cause of problems as well -
ya its too bad lang sucks that no one would come calling us for the rights to talk to him , id ship his rights off for a 7th pick , anything lol who knows maybe we'd find another gem .........if no progress is made with schneider i can see us a getting a 2nd-3rd rounder for him , id ship him as well ..........kyle calder id ship his rights away for a case of beer lmao But anyways , im with you i dont like this trade for rights stuff but we might as well get in on it just saw this ......... Kyle Calder to Toronto (e2) LMAO , how could i forgotten toronto , when in doubt ship a players rights to toronto LMAO .........worst gm in the league , that team is a joke
-
thats a pipe dream , flames would never trade him and if they did which i dont belive they would they wouldnt trade it to a western team ........where did you hear that he doesnt wanna return to the flames ??? nevermind i just saw it on eklund lmao ............i dont believe one word he said about that
-
the blues traded back the 1st round pick for 2008 which is suppose to be a really good draft year for tkachuk ?? LMAO ....stupid morons , thats all i have to say lmao .........ridiculous move i would trade his rights just for the fact that i think he wont come back due to the timonen signing and 2008 will be a good year , if we dont use the pick we'd get we can use it in a trade at the deadline

According to TSN Mark Messier, Igor Larionov, Ron Francis, Scott Stevens, Al MacInnis, Adam Oates, & claude lemieux are all eligible to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame this year. However 4 seems to be the usual maxium number that get put through each year. Messier is a sure thing. Who does everyone like for the other 3 spots? I am going with.... 1 mark messier (lock) 2 ron francis ( one of the all time leaders in pts,won a few cups and was a leader , he'll make it in guaranteed i believe) 3 al macinnis ( won a cup and the mvp , one of the leaders in goals ) 4 adam oates ( one of the all time leaders in assists) missing out i say is stevens , larionov and lemieux -
