dont know. all i know is they're fricken huge.
-
my take from camp: hudler looks good, franzen looks good, howard looks great. as for grigs... basically a no show. he reminded me of bertuzzi in the playoffs, everytime he got the puck, he didnt do anything good with it, and he definitely isnt up to speed. i see him spending some time with the griffins, bu t hey im just a fan, we'll see wut babcock does.
-
i had no clue they were tweaking some ruleshttp://sports.outsidethebeltway.com/2007/06/nhl-approves-rule-changes-for-2007-2008-season/
-
see if you can find one thats "pro stock". Some shops manage to get the leftover sticks that some nhl players dont use so they call them pro stock. They're a lot more durable and usually cost $50-$60 less than the normal stick because they don't have a warranty, which doesn't matter because they're more durable.
-
babcock is great. i dont think i'd rather have any other coach, except scotty bowman, but hes retired. he's only been in the nhl for 3 seasons so im sure he'll only get better.
-
i dont see whats so bad about that jersey... its more modern and just looks cool. i'd take it over the ones they're using now any day.
-
fedorov had less points than lang in the last 2 seasons so getting fedorov would be pointless. sure you could say he didnt have anyone that great around him, but even in that case wouldnt he at least have as many points as lang if he were worth picking up.
-
come playoff time, i've felt more comfortable about hasek than anyone else the wings have had in the past, lets see, 8 years?
-
what the hell... he fit in great on tv... my god is bettman really trying to kill the nhl??
-
hope he turns out to be a great goalie. it'd be nice to have one main long-term dependable goalie, rather than constantly picking guys up and throwing em out.
-
this past playoff season i went to game 5 against san jose. greatest game i've been to. Also game 2 against calgary. 2 goals in the first 3 minutes and the place was goin nuts.
-
bring him to detroit for a year or 2. just make sure zetterberg gets his raise.
-
been there 4 times, skipped last years but i'll be at the main one this year, saturday-monday. Pretty interesting getting to see datsyuk and zetterberg before anyone else . Cant wait to see wut grigs is made of.
-
umm, well our team sort of looks like s*** compared to the last few years. we have datsyuk and zetterberg.... that is it. Sure we have good defense, but whos going to score the big goals? Im not counting on filpulla and hudler to come out and have a 70-80 point season. Now i wonder why we got rid of lang and calder. its not like we replaced them.
-
i hope holland does something about this, or its going to be a loooong season.
-
man... we do not look good for next season. but i wonder if holland is just gearing up for the future. Look at all of the upcoming players: Kronwall, filpulla, hudler, smith, howard, grigorenko, kindl... not too shabby, no? oh and i thought the main reason hasek was coming back is to win a stanley cup. Would anyone else here agree that our chances of that are a tad bit lower this year?

NHL announces new broadcast deal with Food Network NEW YORKâ€â€Flanked by Food Network president Brooke Johnson and cooking-show host Rachael Ray, Commissioner Gary Bettman announced yesterday that the NHL has opted out of its contract with the Versus cable channel (formerly the Outdoor Life Network) and has reached a long-term broadcasting deal with the Food Network starting in the 2007-08 season. "In all my years as commissioner, I have learned that our diverse group of fans and players all enjoy food of some sort. Italian, French, barbecue, quick-and-easy 30-minute mealsâ€â€you name it, one or more of them eat it," said Bettman, adding that Iron Chef French host Hiroyuki Sakai will join play-by-play announcer Mike "Doc" Emrick and analyst Brian Engblom to form a new lead announcing team for all Food Network games. "This partnership has been a long time coming. If the Food Network would have been around in 1991, we would have left ESPN in a heartbeat." “It’s great to know we will be on television next year,†Bettman added, smiling as the NHL’s new studio team, consisting of Rachael Ray as head hockey anchor and Bill Clement as game analyst, collaborated in an attempt to equate the offsides penalty to “zesting up†a pan-seared T-bone steak. “Thanks, Food Network.†Though Bettman maintained that the Food Network was always the league's first choice, sources close to the commissioner confirmed that the NHL also considered broadcasting games on E!, the Golf Channel, and Cartoon Network before eventually deciding to go with the network offering the best combination of financial incentives and airtime. "We also thought the lead-in programs on Versus, especially those that focused on bull-riding, bass fishing, and violent contact sports, were not entirely compatible with the image of the league," Bettman said. "Now, hockey games will follow Emeril Live, Feasting On Asphalt, and The Hungry Detective, which, as you can plainly see, are a better fit. Also, we are paying the Food Network much less money to broadcast our games." According to terms of the deal, the Food Network will schedule broadcasts of over 50 full-length hockey games and will carry both the Eastern and Western Conference Semi-Finals, as well as Games 4 through 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The only exception, Bettman said, would be made for Rachael Ray, who appears on television roughly three times more than the NHL. In the case of Ray experiencing a scheduling conflict, hockey games will be postponed and rescheduled at Ray's convenience. "We liked the idea of having hockey because it has two halftimes," said Food Network president Johnson, adding that the first game on the channel will feature the ceremonial dropping of an inaugural homemade Italian meatball at center ice by honorary referee Mario Batali. "Our debut coverage will include a halftime show hosted by Giada De Laurentiis, who will recap the game's events while guiding you through the preparation of Sicilian penne with swordfish and eggplant. Or, if you are in the mood for something more immediate, on-ice reporter Paula Deen will spend timeouts showing you certain tactics to enhance the flavor of your traditional southwestern dip." Though she stated that she didn't want to give anything away, Johnson said that the network's first hockey-related profile will focus on Sidney Crosby eating veal and creamed spinach prepared by Roker On The Road host Al Roker. Other hockey players now contractually obligated to make appearances on shows include Chris Drury on Food 911, Martin Brodeur on Calorie Commando, and Alexander Ovechkin on Dinner: Impossible. The new broadcasting deal has some sportswriters saying the move will make hockey even more irrelevant, while others believe this is a clear step up for the league. "I watch the Food Network far more than I watch hockey, and I think most sports fans feel the same way," said Boston Globe sports columnist Bob Ryan. "My favorite program is Food Nation With Bobby Flay. So I'll definitely watch that, and then maybe stick around to watch part of a period if the Bruins are playing. Everybody wins here."

Holland needs to do something QUICK. I mean who do we have for forwards... Zetterberg and datsyuk... as of now we dont have much depth.
-
so anyone know what to expect from this guy??? is he going to be as good as datsyuk or zetterberg in their rookie years?
-
yea no kidding. seems like everyone is making big moves and filling spots except for the wings. Sure they picked up rafalski, but only because schneider was on the way out. Although if we dont pick up anyone else, look at our team right now. Zetterberg and Datsyuk are dominating more than ever, cleary was great in the playoffs Filpulla, imo, looks VERY promising, and grigorenko is FINALLY making his debut.
-
we need to pick up guerin . He's better than anyone else out there right now and we could use another good forward, especially if we want to compete with anaheim.
-
bill guerin played for san jose for 2 mil...
-
so... what the hell are we going to do? we have like 8 mil left right???? were screwed.
-
yea the disappointing playoff years (00', 03', 06',) kinda make those regular season achievements seem worthless. Most great teams are remembered for their championships, not how many games they won in the regular season. But hey, im still happy with 3 cups in 10 years.

Gomez has had above 70 points once in his career. Drury has never hit 70 points... Wow, i never realized that. Yea datsyuks contract is 100% worth it. he's been incredible and finally had is breakout in the playoffs. As much as he keeps improving, i can see him winning a conn smythe. Maybe a Hart tropthy but that might be reserved for crosby and ovechkin for a while.
