Conklin wasn't great. But what concerns me more is that our offense just disappeared the past two games. No one can complete a pass and it seemed like there were 6 Columbus skaters out there at all times. Dirty, dirty loss.
-
Two things can happen: One, Columbus will break out of their streak and shock the Wings. Or two, the Wings will bounce back and absolutely stomp Columbus into the ground.

Zetterberg is a notoriously slow starter. No worries, folks. Every year we have threads like this wondering what's wrong with Zetterberg, and by the end of the season we have threads about how awesome Zetterberg is.

Jackets sign Wisniewski: 6-years $33-million ($5.5m/yr)

Yeah, nobody goes to a team like that to win. We've seen this script before. Player goes to a lower middling level team to make big bucks, then when his contract is up, goes to a contender to win. -
I didn't notice him, either. And considering all the chances the Wings had, he should have been a part of at least some of them. I'd say let him play another game and if he doesn't make some kind of impact, rotate him back for Eaves or Miller until he does.

Sammy will benefit from playing in a weaker conference, and he can have a bigger role which should help him produce a bit more. I wouldn't mind taking him back someday. He had a knack for timely goals that in the end outweighed his constant shooting into goalie's chest protectors.

It looks pretty contained. Small, but still cool. I imagine it's not big enough to pose a threat to anyone, or even cause static in the people below, but still an awesome touch.

Beatdowns happen so rarely to the Wings that you do just have to admire it in a twisted sort of way, haha.
-
You know what I mean. Do you really blame anyone but Conklin for this game? Add in all the posts and near-misses. All of Washington's decent shots went in. Vokoun was amazing this game. If Howard in net we're looking at a 2-1 game, I think. Hopefully Conks can shake it off. THe Wings really dominated most of the game, other than some terrible turnovers.

I don't know what happened tonight. I've watched the whole game, and aside from errant passes the Wings really deserved to win this game. I really think Conklin (keep in mind I'm a fan of his) let the team down. All of these goals were his fault, really. Embarassing. Then again, I don't know why Babcock went with the backup who only played one game against the most potent offense in the league. Conklin should have played last night and Howard tonight.

Good for Booth to finally go somewhere people might appreciate him. Feel bad for Sammy having to go to that AHL club. I thought he was doing great in Vancouver? What happened?
-
Let's honor him with a 1500-0 win!
-
Flip felt so bad for scoring that goal, haha.
-
I'll post a third when he gets a third, haha. Actually, it was just a weird double post error.

I can't describe how much of a relief it is to have Franzen scoring consistently again. I can't describe how much of a relief it is to have Franzen scoring consistently again.

That trick play was awesome. Just when you think every team is the same, the Wings show a little attitude on the blue line. Very cool, I thought. Would have been cooler had it worked.

I'm so happy with this season so far. I haven't felt like throwing my remote at the TV yet. Even with these two goals I keep thinking that goals against happen. They don't always mean the goalie sucks or the players suck. I have a really good feeling about this year so far, even though it's early.
-
I don't know the technical terms, or even if it's impact from the coaches, but the defense is tighter all around and the whole team is less lazy this time around. But all that could just be attributed to players like Hudler and Franzen having off-years all at the same time last year.

Watching it through atdhe through the PS3 browser. Nevermind, I didn't realize using the right stick on the controller shifted the image over and allowed me to hit full screen on the actual video.
-
So...any techie guys able to help me out? I'm watching a stream, and it's working fine on my computer. I tried to pull it up on my PS3 and I'm only getting half the screen. Changing the video size makes it bigger and smaller, but still only shows me half the screen. Does this sound like a problem with the actual stream site or a setting somewhere on the PS3?

I don't mind other teams playing so many games to our four. Maybe I'm totally wrong on this, but it seems like it would help the team focus. Seeing how many points some teams have, the players might take games more seriously if they know they can't afford to start slacking, a good motivator in October. You know, gives them a target to aim for?

ESPN insider article re: Wing's deadline cap space
VM1138 replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
You're right about those guys, but a team needing to unload cap space that won't make playoffs in need of a strong center might be willing to part with a second-line scorer for someone like Flip. Or throw in a pick to sweeten the deal. -

I agree that if the team picks up anything it'll be a sniper. And a big-name, too, if a trade can be worked out. Just imagine the lynch mobs looking for Holland if we end up getting burned in the 1st or second round without having made a move and having all that cap space. People talking about having too many players are forgetting we'd have to trade to get someone. I don't think picks alone are going to do it. So we'll be bringing in a guy by getting rid of one or two other guys. -

The Wings, with all that cap space, are doing well. In fact, I haven't really heard anyone talk about the team missing any element right now. Even if we were up against the cap I think the team would be a deadly team for anyone else to face. That just makes it all the sweeter that we can potentially pick up a game changer at the trade deadline. Let's not forget that we might have to actually trade someone this time, so that adds cap space, too. -
Kindl's played 55 games already? Wow, where has the time gone?
