WCQF Game 3 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Coyotes 2

Bad mojo, hockey gods please ignore.

WCQF Game 3 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Coyotes 2

The only thing I have to say other than "Go Wings!" is "Consistency!" The team has done so well the first two games, I have faith they've flipped the switch. Keep the pedal to the metal and don't Phoenix's underdog motivation slow you down. They're going to come at the Wings hard, and might get a lucky break or two, but if the Wings can get a lead Phoenix will start self destructing with lack of discipline.

    Why detroit is hockeytown

Really? Are you sure? I haven't seen numbers but I was under the impression that nobody watched the NBA finals.
  4. Faceoffs, faceoffs, faceoffs, Draper needs to stay until he proves he can't handle playing, and he's doing pretty good right now.

    Modano a healthy scratch

At this point he's just a filler. He's not a game changer, so there's no reason to insert him into the lineup. He's not going to do anything that's not already being done.

The best time of the season?

I see your point about the season coming to an end, but it's sort of like watching an movie with an epic ending. The big, dramatic climax where the intensity picks up, the heavy action music kicks in, and the hero overcomes impossible odds. It's sad that it's slowly coming to an end, but this is what hockey is all about right here.

The best time of the season?

September is exciting and all, but playoff hockey is like Christmas for me, even better. It just feels totally different than any other time of year.

WCQF Game 2 GDT: Coyotes 3 at Red Wings 4

I like it. Rest Lidstrom until we really, really need him. Keeping his TOI low while the team is playing so good is great in the early rounds, keeps him rested.

WCQF Game 2 GDT: Coyotes 3 at Red Wings 4

Kronwall was just trying to show Phoenix they weren't going to be rattled by plays like that. Bertuzzi did try to fight Doan, but honestly I'm betting he's saving it up for games in Phoenix in case Detroit needs a jump. I can accept no ejection from the game but that hit should have at least been a penalty, four minutes for blood.

    Why detroit is hockeytown

Canada would rather watch the NBA playoffs? What? Did only 20 people vote in that poll at that point?
  11. I hate to rain on the parade here, but Phoenix has had two days to get acclimated to the time change, the start time isn't going to be a disadvantage to them.

    Hatrick Dick

I don't know the guy and haven't read enough to really judge him, but I know a spoiled athlete rarely changes. He probably is just saying the right things, but we would always have to worry about him holding out to go over to the KHL or SEL. When big money is involved, egos don't just disappear. EDIT: How about Holland just bring Lilja back next year?

    Modano a healthy scratch

Considering how terrible the reffing is in the playoffs, there's no way Babcock sacrifices the PK just to placate Modano's ego.

    Datsyuk wins Kharlamov Trophy

This is absolutely retarded. I understand not recognizing an athlete, I probably wouldn't recognize a Lion, Tiger, or Piston, but to completely dismiss the guy when someone says they're an athlete? Dumb girls.
  15. Exactly. The Wings have to assume they will get an unfair amount of penalties at the worst possible times, so they need to plan for it.

    Datsyuk wins Kharlamov Trophy

Wonder how Ovechkin feels about Semin voting for Datsyuk, haha.
  17. That's what they said a year or two ago, but it was then proven that no such thing happens. Supposedly.

    Modano a healthy scratch

I don't see Eaves being sat. In fact, in the playoffs you don't change your lineup after a near perfect game like Game 1. I'll actually be mad if they put Modano in at this point.
  19. Very rarely do I see clothing I absolutely have to buy, but this qualifies. Even if throwing the Octopi is not illegal, it's clearly not in favor with the NHL who is trying to outlaw it at every turn, and thus is relevant.

    TODD BER-TUZZI ! TODD BER-TUZZI !

Agreed. It's like a rolling poll of fans to see if they approve of what an athlete is doing, haha. Plus, anything more than the regular "let's go Red Wings" spices things up.

    Around Jobing.com Arena

Off topic, but it drives me crazy that the official spelling is Jobing.com. That reads like "Joe-bing." It should be spelled Jobbing.
  22. Agreed, I'm no fan of many laws in this country, but the anti-cop attitudes of so many people is just ridiculous. That being said, I can't believe the NHL would pressure (I'm assuming that's what this is) an original six team to end a fantastic tradition. Sad day. My dad was at the last game in Detroit against Chicago and he said he saw some guy getting manhandled by security and basically dragged out for throwing an octopi. I had never heard of this happening at the Joe before, so it surprised me. Was that the guy that this article is about? Again, it's silly to get so upset over something like this, but a big chunk of enjoying a sport is enjoying unsanitized traditions. This is just as insulting as you can get relating to sports fan bases.

    Man games lost

I don't, either. What matters more than man-games is how good the players who are injured are. Last season the Wings had basically all of their crucial players out for huge chunks of the season. Whereas other teams may get decimated, but it's usually lower level guys.

To Red Wings fans in Arizona:

The Red Wings fans will be doing hockey a favor by wearing as much red as possible to embarrass Phoenix and hopefully help cause relocation to a better market.

New Ovie commercial with a good chuckle

"Sorry Penguin." Ovechkin commercials are always good for a chuckle.
