Seeing as how Giguere hasn't been good since what, 2003? I'd pass on any trade involving Giguere.

While a lot can be said for players needing to find chemistry and find their roles....we still should've won at least one game on talent alone. It's the same attitude we saw last year, and I think it's a coaching issue. I trust Babcock too much to say it's him, so McCrimmon has got to be the problem. He's the only real change right before the s***fest that is our defense happened. A back end with Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall and Stuart should NOT be asleep at the wheel. They should be dominating and shutting down the opposition night in and night out. And yes, it's time to combine Datsyuk and Zetterberg. The argument for depth doesn't matter this early in the season. We should be giving the kids and Flip as mcuh chance as possible to find new roles and responsibiltiies for themselves.

Sigh. Watching the Colorado game clips. THey have a goalie who apparently knows how to make saves when the opponents get close to him.

I'm not a mindfly, but can you really say he looked fine? Is it a coincidence that he looked fine only during the time when Detroit was dominating and not giving St. Louis any decent shots?

Exactly. I think we'll see a bit more of him for the next few weeks but I'm hoping Holland is looking for a better backup. The bad thing is, I don't know what Holland could get for Howard and Lebda.

I'm so tired about hearing about age in sports. Seriously. The Wings are what, 2 years above the league average? That's nonexistent. The Wings just forgot how to play a full freaking game. Same BS as last season. One full game, please. Kthxbye.

Howard. You REALLY suck. Seriously guys, he's shown no promise in this game. We praised him for his saves when he barely faced any, and even on those he looked a bit weak. Realistically, he's still showing exactly what he showed in all his other starts for us. I know it's early, and he's inexperienced, but seriously now.....he's 25. Time to start making basic saves.

One thing I've been wondering about that's not directly relevant to this game, but last year and this year it seems that the defense is struggling. How exactly is it possible for the WIngs to have the best defense in 2008, and then in 2009 and 09-10 have mediocre defense with basically the exact same D-core?

Howard looks a bit shaky. I can't tell what it is, but once an opposing player gets up close to him, he doesn't seem all that confident in his positioning.

One thing I'm excited about this season: The Wings are actually driving to the net again. This promises to pay dividends for them down the road, especially if Bertuzzi can remember how to crash the net himself. But I figure it's just an adjustment period before the new guys figure out their roles.

An 84 game schedule is a bad idea. I love hockey, but the season is already long and grinding. Adding two games is nothing but a money grab.

Yeah, we definitely have special teams issues. I wonder what can be done to fix them? Especially the PK, carrying over from last season.

To be fair, it's a lot harder to clear when you only have 3 players defending. It was still a good kill, overall, until that shot.

Atdhe.net has the game streaming, but they have all these pop up ads they never had before obscuring more than half the screen... EDIT: And it's really jerky and the sound is awful...

Yeah, I think any and all of Lilja's detractors (myself included) are now officially on the Lilja bandwagon since he was so ridiculously solid for the Wings. I missed the game tonight, but it sounds like our defense is still half-assing everything? In which case, Meech playing is only going to cause more problems.

Do these guys even watch hockey? Anyone with extensive hockey experience can see why Chicago might struggle and bomb. And Vancouver making the finals, let alone winning the Cup? What a joke. Philly an argument can be made for, but this is the first time I've ever heard them mentioned as Cup-caliber team. They got better, but it remains to be seen if they can actually play hockey as well as they can skate to the penalty box.

Had to call in sick to work yesterday. Why couldn't I have been sick a single day later? Got class AND work today so I'll really miss all of it. Oh, and no cable, so unless there's a stream... If tomorrow's game will be broadcast maybe I'll go to Buffalo Wild Wings or something to catch it, since I'm lucky enough to have tomorrow off! Go Wings!

Am I the only person on Earth that doesn't see what makes the Pens so much better than the Wings or any other team? They're good, don't get me wrong. Well, I guess considering how much worse the Wings got in so many people's eyes that they're still in 2nd is a compliment.
