    They better not let up. Tampa is going to come out flying. Now would be a great time for Mrazek to string together two wins.

    The people who want Howard gone because Mrazek is developing well are shortsighted. Why wouldn't you keep two quality goalies when you can afford them? Especially since goalies are inconsistent. It's not like we are in a cap crunch and I'd rather not lean on one rookie goaltender with no depth after him for a full season.

    I agree that Babcock should stay if we get better pieces to work with. His bizarre decisions stem mostly from having not a lot to work with.

    Well the team does. Like others said, they're not mentally tough yet. A team scores against them and the floodgates open. Do you think they'd react any differently to a team catching up to them in a series?

    And what was with the puck? It waffled off of everyone's stick repeatedly or slid over there sticks. Was the ice bad? It didn't seem to affect Tampa but it affected every Wings player.

    I admire your optimism, but this game was the Wings at their best. They haven't played a better game. And they lost. Now Tampa, just an hour ago a shaken team, has all the confidence and momentum going home, where they have the best record. And they are no longer doubting themselves. This was the high water mark of the Wings season.

    If the snake bit kids wake up and start scoring, this Wings team is suddenly dangerous.

    Honestly, all the league would have to do to take this seriously is stop penalizing the result of things like hits and start penalizing attempts to hit the head consistently. Fighting is another issue, tough.

    Chicago must be the greatest team in history. They don't have to be all that good but they just win when they need to somehow. Sigh. That used to be us.

    I think to play team defense like we do, they can only be as fast as the slowest player. Just like our offense can't unload because they have to focus on defense because of our corps.

    Great game. The Wings did almost everything right. Play like that next game and Tampa might start to panic. But a 2-1 lead is not anything to get comfortable about. However, it feels good having a mid series lead for the first time in three playoffs. And to those pointing out Tampa hitting posts: Detroit also had a bunch of near goals. I think the better team won tonight, cleanly.

    I don't care if they play a hard hitting game but the Wings have to start winning board battles. Last game there were a couple times when three Wings were pinning two Tampa players and they still lost the puck. A few other points Nyquist and Zetterberg were carrying the puck in along the boards and Tampa just barely tapped them and picked off the puck.

    I know we all assume Blashill would become the next coach if Babcock leaves, but I do wonder if it's really a good idea to replace a guy with a clone. If we need a change in strategy is rather go with McClellan than someone who will just be like Babcock in every way. Especially if him being tuned out by the players is part of the problem.

    There's a lot of harm bringing Smith back in, potentially. Turnovers are already a problem. And his pinching could really hurt us. I would rather they had called up Oullette.

    Instead of putting Smith or Kindl back in to replace Marchenko, why not just call up Oullette? He played last year in the playoffs for a game and looked like he belonged.

    Can't see the game yet, still at work, but it looks like another penalty fest. Series like this make me want to stop watching hockey. I don't want to watch endless special teams. There's no flow and it creates a lopsided game. Get your shot together, NHL.
