Hopefully the "Good Now Days" will be better than the "Good Ole Days" if we win tonight and then threepeat next year. But we gotta win tonight first!

This is a fear, but when you look at who we'd have to lose (Hudler, for example), it's not depth that's performing right now anyway. I've always been on Huds side, but it's hard to say he's been a crucial part of our depth this playoff run. Therefore, losing him doesn't make us any less "deep" as we can bring up one of the young guns. Let's not forget that whoever we lose, we'll be gainign Ericcson and Helm, and possibly Leino.

I wonder if I can avoid having the ending spoiled for me. I'll be at work, and last time I tried to avoid a score I was almost disappointed. Hopefully no one comes into the store talking on their cell phone about it like last time. I'll have to watch it when I get home! Go Wings!

Words that need to be banned from Hockey Vocabulary
VM1138 replied to MississippiWing's topic in General
Kareem. I always thought it was pronounced the way it's spelled, but apparently it's "Care-emmed" and it gets annoying. THere are a few. It seems that every playoff run someone comes up with a new word they use all the time. There was one earlier this year that stood out, but I think it was last year that "kareemed" was said every. single. time. the. puck. hit. a. wall. -
Good point. Let's hope we close them out tonight. No need to stretch this drama out any further, I can't take it. As long as Datsyuk is back we'll be okay, I think. It seems that none of the Wings are in the mood to take a night off and let up on the gas. The Pens are going to come out hard. But they'll also fall apart quickly if the WIngs strike first.
-
They're so serious about it, too. Love it.

It's getting harder ever day to dismiss the conspiracy theories if they allow Pittsbugh to have their screen but not Detroit.
-
Really wanted to see them win it at home, for the screaming crowds and whatnot. But after this BS of a playoff run, with the NHL falling to shambles and the Pens being the Pens, it would be sweet to win it in the Pens house again and embarass the league. The Pens have won twice, yes? So then we can say we have matched their Cup wins just in their own barn alone.

He's got a couple more seasons left under his belt.

For what reason to people hate Lidstrom?
VM1138 replied to Greetings from Blueland's topic in General
Judging from their description of how Lids plays, I'd say he never watches hockey other than Pens games when they're winning. -
I'm going with Ozzie. I don't want to undercut Zetterberg, but he's only been REALLY noticable this series. He's been solid all along, but he's been crucial this particular series. Ozzie has been there performing the entire playoff run. He kept us in that Anaheim series and has saved us in the Pittsburgh series at times. Not to mention all the crap Ozzie has had to take from people, he really deserves some recognition.

Any Chance Tavares Replaces Crosby as the New NHL Poster Boy?
VM1138 replied to Probie's topic in General
Agreed. Toews is the best combination of skill and class and leadership not in a Red Wings uniform. It's funny, being that he's from the Blackhawks and as Detroit fans we shuold probably hate him, but he's just a great kid it seems. -
I have to work Game 6, and only have two days to negotiate a switch with someone, which at my job is a little difficult. I'll only miss the first period or so of Game 7, if it has to happen. I'm really disappointed but I'm holding out hope someone will switch with me and I can watch Game 6.
-
I'm thinking the same thing. When the Pens have last change, it means Dats and Zetterberg will be split up to control Malkin and Crosby. Unless those two get put on a line together (which is possible late in the game if Pittsburgh is down) we won't see Dats and Z together much.
-
The point is, he thinks that the Pens are playing great and have no worries, completely ignoring the fact that their back is against the wall and that they are in trouble NOW, not AFTER they lose at home.
-
I love Pierre's obsession with "You're never in trouble unti you lose at home." Um....if the Pens lose at home they're out of the playoffs. I'd call that trouble.
-
I don't want the WIngs to let up at all, but we need to rest Dats now, I think. Especially if this is how they're going to play.
-
Hey, the media was right. That shorthanded goal in Game 4 turned the series around. It took a fairly even series and pissed off the WIngs enough that now it's firmly in their favor.
-
It's official. For 2 years in a row, Zetterberg > Crosby. The Pens are self destructing. Keep it up douchebags. I love the chant!
-
I'm sorry for even having momentary doubts! This is fantastic! Datsyuk and Hossa picked the perfect time to show up! Everyone is playing great. Even in my wildest I never imagined we'd be up by 4 halfway through the game. Do NOT let up the pressure, keep it going!

Anyone agree that as long as the Wings don't get called for some imaginary infraction early on the game (like last game) that they will win this game? That penalty sucked the wind out of their sails and I'm convinced had that penalty not been called we would have won the last game. I don't want to blame the refs, but let's just hope there are no Wings penalties immediately after game start to stunt whatever positive attitude they have.
-
In that case, Let's go Tigers! Let's go Wings!
-
I wish I had something like that. That's the best way to watch a game on TV. Announcers can be nice once in a while, especially Ken and Mick, but even when you have good announcers I think it's more fun to hear the crowd screaming and the players shouting.
