WCF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Blackhawks 4 (OT)
VM1138 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I was so frustrated I didn't even notice anything CHicago did. Like I said previously, I'm not even calling for penalties against Chicago, but 9 undeserved minutes (2 deserved) of penalty kill is just ridiculous. -
WCF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Blackhawks 4 (OT)

Wow, out of 11 minutes of penalties, only 2 minutes were deserved. What a ******* joke. I'm realy starting to hate the NHL. It's not even about conspiracies. Just get some decent refs. Is it really necessary to tie both hands behind the Wings' back in order to achieve "parity?" -
Hilarious video of "Zetterberg" preparing for the Hawks
VM1138 replied to zetterthancrosby's topic in General
That's funny because I had the exact same reaction to it. -
Jagr was lazy and sucks. He put up good numbers but I don't think numbers alone make you the greatest. You've got to have ita ll, and Lidstrom has that. Hasek was probably the best at his position, but it's hard to say a goalie is the greatest type of player ever considering their limited, though crucial, role.

Well, unless Crosby and Malkin are scoring and Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Hossa are not that is. I'm with the other posters, Pittsburgh really does scare me. On the one hand, Detroit totally dominates lately, on the other, Pittsburgh will have an axe to grind and their big guns are performing. In theory if we keep up our secondary scoring we won't have a problem, but it makes me nervous going into that series withuot any of our big guns other than Franzen going.

No people we all thought this was funny when we do it to other sports teams, take it like grown ups. The only flaw is, doing it against hockey neophyte cities like Raleigh, etc is funny, doing it against a veteran, well established hockey town just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. So let them have their fun, we can laugh because they entirely missed the point of that video gag.

I hate to say it though, there may be some truth to player-coach conflict. I love having Babcock around, but this isn't the first time we've heard of players being "mistreated" by Babcock. He rubs a lot of players the wrong way, but so far it hasn't generated too much drama or ruined the teams chances at winning. I think whenever his reign as coach is over we'll hear a lot more about what's goign on behind the scenes.

Crosby is certainly elite, and he's among the top group, but there's no way he's the greatest player in the world. In my mind it's not even debatable. The stats alone disprove this, then add on all the intagibles that push other players ahead of him. He's not even the best int he world right now, let alone the best ever.

Reasons to believe Roenick: He's close friends with Chelios and would know. Reasons not to believe Roenick: It doesn't make any sense. When have we ever seen anything to seem like he hates Americans? Or Chelios especially? I think Chelios could be playing full time on another team, but clearly we're too deep, which is why he's not playing. I'm a big fan of Cheli's but I just don't see this making sense.

Same here. After hating the Ducks so hard, the Hawks kind of pale in comparison. I don't really like Ben Eager, but meh, it's not like he's any form of relevant anyway.

"No Elite Goaltending Left In The 2009 Playoffs"
VM1138 replied to xtrememachine1's topic in General
Obviously the "elite" goalies weren't elite enough if they're golfing right now. And Cam Ward has been a virtual nobody except for a decent season or two. And it boggles my mind that they say Ozzie is the weakest. He's been, by far, the best remaining in the playoffs. -
Ozzie was cloned and replaced and it took 10 days for them to program all of Ozzie's memories into Neo-Osgood.
-
Coasting through every game is the easiest way to extend your career.
-
Me, too. But those people who were calling for Datsyuk to be traded are ridiculous.
-
I really don't see a reason for him to change it. His rookie season was already consistently NHL-caliber, I'd imagine he'd want to keep that juju going.
-
Gotta give props to Cleary, but he's only elevated his play really the last few games. Franzen, Lidstrom, and Ozzie are the players that have performed game in, game out with the fewest mistakes and the best numbers. Lidstrom is my vote, but he hasn't been flashy enough. Therefore most likely Franzen would get it.

Funny article. I never knew Homer had such a temper with his own teammates and coaches, though.
-
And if Pronger is gone and Neids retires, they're going to realize just how mediocre Hiller is. Doesn't the media get tired of these one hit wonders? You'd think they'd learn and stop calling every hot goalie the next great thing. We've had what, 15 of those in the last couple of seasons? "The next Patrick Roy!" only to disappear the next season.
-
Are we THIS hard up for something to talk about?
-
I'm not going to jinx this, so don't take this as cocky, but if the Wings play the way they did in Game 1, Chicago is going to be lucky to escape this with their dignity. IF the Wings play like they did in Game 1.

Report: Patrick Roy offered Avs' Head Coaching Position
VM1138 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Patrick Roy. ****** extraordinaire. -
Have you even watched the playoffs this year? Ozzie is the only reason we didn't get beat by Anaheim, to be honest. If he had played even slightly shabby we would have lost a lot of those one goal games.
-
Agreed, Sammy can be frustrating a times, but he's never been a detriment. He's always been solid defensively and has come up with crucial goals. You can't ask for a better 3rd liner, it juts sucks that he's so prone to shooting into the chest protector of a goalie. If only he could work on his timing... Still, it's hard to hate on Sammy, like Cleary, he's always hardworking. And these playoffs he's been one of the forwards I've noticed the most for his effort.

Well....maybe Pronger, but that's it. THat was seriously close, glad he escaped that!
