You know, you're right. In 2007 we didn't have anyone that hit. Kronwall had not yet found his wild side, and his magical pairing with Stuart had not happened yet. I can't wait to see one of thsoe guys hit Pronger and send his helmet flying.

If we play Chicago, I'll probably miss most of the games due to work. Fail.

It's amazing when you look at pictures of Giguere and then Hiller, Hiller is like a stick and we all know Giguere is a giant pad.
-
We might not be able to hold their first line (I don't think we've been able to all season), but they can't win with just one line. So while their top line is scoring, 4 of ours will be outscoring them, which makes me happy.
-
Anyone else think Hiller looks like a tweaked out pre-teen who had a sex change?

If any team can bring out instensity in the Wings, it's Anaheim. Hopefully they still want blood. Anaheim is a tough team, but Detroit is clearly more skilled. As long as the heart is there the Wings will be fine. We just have to hope toe scape without major injuries. Oh, and we usually get killed with ridiculous penalties when we play the Ducks, so let's hope that doesn't happen this time. Prediction: Datsyuk plays like a man possessed.

Haha, yeah, that Yankee-Red Sox series has been going on for years now. What gets me is how often they talk about baseball when it's the middle of the off-season. I can understand NFL coverage for the Draft, but other than that there's not much to talk about in that department. They could give hockey a little love, but at least on their radio side, the hosts often admit they know nothing about hockey and then proceed to make a joke about it, despite it being about as popular as the NBA which they talk about non-stop.

As usual, I don't pick my poison, but a Ducks-Wings series has the storyline, and would be wildly more entertaining than a series against the Canucks. Frankly, though, I'm not scared of any team in the playoffs, so long as the Wings play like they want it we can beat any team left. I will say this though, if the Wings play Anaheim in Round 2, that might be the series that decides the Cup, instead of the Western Finals usually doing it.

VS says they're playing Ana-SJS, but all I'm seeing is the 2nd period of the Chicago-Calgary game. Damn.
-
They turned it on pretty well after taking a whole year off, I think we'll be all right after a week. I hope.

That's dumb. If someone dumps beer on you, you defend yourself. Yeah, it's bad the woman got hit, but it's not like she's hospitalized.

There are so many warriors and elite players that I'd take before I'd take Crosby.
-
Haha, I even miss the replays because of work. God, I hate retail.

I guarantee you if we play the Ducks Leino is going to be playing. We'll need our fourth line to actually have talent in order to stem off Anaheim matching their top line against it. Of course, on the bright side, all four of our lines could beat their bottom three. And our top 2, and maybe the third line, could handle their top line. It'll be a tough series.

If Anaheim faces Detroit in the 2nd Round, that may be the best hockey we'll see all year. Usually the WCF is the most entertaining series, but this year it might be pushed up a bit. In all honesty, ANaheim has been playing really well, so has Detroit. Both teams are playing physical, and Anaheim probably poses the greatest threat to Detroit right now, especially considering the history of goonage, bad calls, etc. Both teams are on a mission this year and won't let up. Plus, Anaheim might think because they beat San Jose they can beat anyone, and forget that by and large Detroit is a better team than San Jose, regardless of the standings.

We'll pay for it later.

Seeing as how I was standing aroudn letting my brain rot helping customers at work, no, Id idn't see Ozzie hurting. I've missed the entire first round because of work.
-
Oh, so Ozzie was hurt? Ah well, we're not going to sweep our way to the Cup. There are going to be lots of goals scored for, and against. There may even be a (Gasp) loss, too. In fact, I seem to remember this team seeming doomed at times last year in Round 1, 3, and even some parts of the Finals seemed sketchy. The playoffs is supposed to be a closely fought, anyone can win game. Columbus sucks, and Detroit dominated the series like they should have. The other series will be closer, but the Wings still have the skill, the smarts, and the experience to outdo anyone.
-
Spare me having to read through the bitter name calling and freaking out, was this a "you can't stop them all" game, or was this a return to regular season form on the part of Ozzie and the D?
-
Got a lot to play for tonight. 1) Keeping the goals against down to keep Ozzie as Luongo's rival for best. 2) Keep Columbus down to show that killer instinct we know the Wings have. Let's go Wings! I hope to see a 4th win at the top of the screen when I come home from work!

Canucks fans already planning Stanley Cup parade route
VM1138 replied to Winger19's topic in General
Brace yourself. A lot of formerly terrible teams are in the playoffs this year, and they're all pertty excited for winning a few games in the playoffs. They think winning a game or a series means they'll win it all. To most of these teams the playoffs is usually only a round long anyways. -
Yes, call me superstitious but there is way too much cockiness around here lately. I won't rest easy this round until the final buzzer sounds.
-
The Wings have this nasty habit of sending messages like: "If you try to hit us, we'll dodge out of the way and score." and "If you goon it up, we'll keep trucking and score." Sounds like our message has been the more effective one.
-
Wow, this series is impressive. I really hope the Wings can keep thsi up. Best team in the playoffs right now, by far. Ozzie is amazing. It really sucks that I haven't seen a single game yet. I've never missed an entire round (or, with my luck, the entire run) in my life and it's really weird to be so...distant from it.

Happy Hudler keeps Wings laughing off ice, scores goals on it

I really hope Huds sticks around. Great attitude, great worker, great player. Hope there's someway we can lock him up for his career, too.
