Never, ever, ever, EVER pick your poison. I'll take whoever we get.

It's funny how consistent Lidstrom has been. A few less than godly games and suddenly he's in decline and not in his prime anymore. That's a true tribute to his greatness and consistency.

Haven't seen an Isles game in years, looking forward to catching this one. In all reality, Detroit SHOULD massacre the Isles. Let's hope they do.

Couple of things: 1) The Colorado announcer is why hockey isn't taken seriously in some places. 2) Ray Emery is possibly the biggest loser in hockey. 3) That Little-Hextall "fight" was amazing. I've never seen a goalie take a leap like that.

That's not fair. Even Luongo wouldn't be the best player on this roster.
-
Well, if we lose a bunch of players like we seem to be bracing for, pulling in Luongo would be a smart move. It won't happen anytime soon, but I've always said, and will repeat now, that Luongo will someday be a Red Wing.

Stream worked at first, t hen cut out. Won't keep streaming. Damnit.

Exactly. Players only take hometown discounts if: A) THere is a winning program in place to buy into. B) There is a solid plan toward building a winning program to buy into. Clearly there is neither in Vancouver, or 80% of the league for that matter. I don't blame him.

Don't forget, if we had enforcers the other team would forget how to play hockey and thus we would win every game.

I think that's where they plan on building it, if they do. At least, that was the rumor a year or two ago.

The downside is that whoever finances it will get to name it. In today's modern world, look out for the AIG Financial Center or Little Caesar's Palace or Comerica Park....woops, too late for that one. It's obvious we need a new arena but I can't say I'm in full support. It will undoubtedly be a cold, multi-level arena where only the richest people will actually be able to see the game. I'd also like to see it called the Yzerman Arena, or hell, even if they name it after Illitch. Just please not a generic company name.

Our goaltending situation will sort itself out come playoff time. Once again, our defense is still pretty bad. Hopefully they will work out their problems, too. Next year we have to go with Ozzie and Howard, which doesn't bode well. Unless Ozzie shakes his hangover, relying on Howard is going to doom us next year. We can't really afford an upgrade in net.

This is complete and utter horses***. I'm so tired of people wanting to waste a roster spot on someone who can do nothing but fight. Injuries happen. Lilja wasn't exactly one of our skill guys. He can block shots, yeah, and we sorely need that. But Lilja is a big guy who can handle himself. This was a freak accident.
-
After viewing this year's defense I think we may need a massive defensive overhaul the day Lidstrom retires.
-
Having a bunch of goons and tough guys isn't going to prevent a lucky punch that causes a concussion. Seriously. It was a fight. Nothing dirty. The punch was just insanely unlucky for Lilja.

Is it just me or is this game really hard to watch? It's so....stop and go.
-
Ustream is only playing the Cup Final.
-
Wow, all these websites are determined to make me miss this game. It was working fine, and then suddenly it cuts to playing Game 6 of the Cup Finals last year? And the site before that was playing the Philly game instead. What the hell?
-
Canadians tend to do that. I think they do it on purpose.
-
Clicked the Wings game on ADthe, and instead am being tortured with the Philly game. WTF?

I'm not sure the economy is that bad that a major successful sports team couldn't get a loan, but I could be wrong. The deadline extension seems to be the most logical choice, as that's what always happens. In a situation like this no one wants to rush things so we'll have to wait even longer for a decision.
-
Way to almost injure your own player with your flying stick, Rask. Hell of an embarassing tantrum, if you ask me.
-
Maybe it's because there are so few good goalies in the world? Which means there aren't as many "diamonds in the rough" that are capable of handling NHL duties. How many truly decent goalies are drafted by the entire league each year? Maybe 1? I'm not sure.
-
These two are really the only relevant ones. And we may have a chance this year to even the score on at least one of them.
