What does it say about the wings when they played like crap all season

I see it the same way. The Wings, even playing horribly all year, are still consistently better than all the teams except for maybe Boston and San Jose. But when the Wings actually play good no team can even compete with them. -

Missed the game, but kind of disappointed to see an OT win against the crappy Coyotes. Was defense another problem tonight?

If they go through with this break they're effectively created 3 seasons in one (Season 1, Season 2 and the Playoffs), making one of them redundant.

Sammy is and always has been a solid player. But he's sort of....neutral. He's solid, but expendable. He's okay and good defensively, and despite the ridiculous timing of his shots he's an asset to the team, but not a huge one. He's one of the very few replaceable players on this roster if push comes to shove.

This is a bad idea, no need for a 2 week break. THe season is long enough as it is.

Exactly. I personally love the fights, but some people just rant and rave about how the only way to win is to have a team full of enforcers beating the snot out of everyone they play.

Wow, did anyone ever picture the day when we'd be praying for Lilja to be in a playoff lineup? I gotta say, I really like Lilja this year, and even when I criticized him I always liked him. Hope he's okay and gets better soon.

2 pts win 0 Points loss Simple as that. No need to complicate it with 3 points, 2 points, 1 pt, and 1/2 point for losing a one goal game in regulation or a 1/4 point for playing a good game even though you lost or anything like that.

What about Leino, I thought Babs said he would be in the lineup at some point? Anyway, I like any line with Hudler and Helm on it. Sammy can't hit the broad side of a barn but he's solid defensively most of the time.

God I love Arrested Development. Can't wait for the movie. I love going back and watching those DVDs. The league when they found out that the Wings signed Hossa: Oh, COME ON!

Ericcson has impressed every single shift he's been on every NHL game he's played. This kid is going to be something. His rocket of a shot keeps me on edge every time. And I noticed Stuart's rocket is getting going lately, too.

Trades are always fun, but really, in retrospect, we're fine, like everyone has been saying. We're deep, and look to see Ericcson providing that defenseman role we needed and Helm and Leino to spark the lower lines come playoff time. With Ozzie seemingly back to form and Conklin solid as always, I'm very comfortable with the team we have. They just need to play with heart.

They're not that much more impressive. They're about where they were, maybe a little improved but nothing horrifying.

The fact that our fourth line hasn't sucked for a while now is probably the reason Holland didn't make a move.

It's always fun to have new players added, but I always have faith in Kenny. He's rarely let us down before.

No kidding. You really have to be thankful for Holland when watching the boneheads around the league.

It's not over yet. Holland himself WAS shopping for someone, so I don't think we can say "everyone knew we wouldn't." We might not, maybe even probably, but it takes a little while yet for these things to break.

And they still won't come close to winning the Cup. But at least they're tough, right?
