Am I missing something?
-
Exactly. I don't understand the Kronner hate. He's having a bad year, but the whole team (individually) is, so I guess I don't udnerstand why everyone wants to lose Kronwall when he's still the backbone of our future defense.
-
Historically I don't think making a move has anything to do with playoff success. If the team is doing well, no trade is needed. Some people just NEED to have a trade to be happy. I think we'll see a player join the WIngs, but nothing major. But I wouldn't be surprised if we don't. We seem to be clicking. Even Stuart and Kronner were fantastic the last game and makes me think their old magic is returning. If they play like last year (which I have a feeling they will) I wouldn't want to lose either one. So look for a 3rd pairing stay-at-home defenseman or a 4th line checker.

Forsberg may steal Wings thunder with 'big announcement'

How would this steal the WIngs thunder? If Floppa retires there will be a collective "Meh." -
Looks like the Red Wings & the Sharks battling off the ice, Robert

We don't need Neil necessarily, but we need to keep the Sharks from getting him, heh. So get him! Get him! -
From watching the games it becomes clear that Conklin has been solid all year and our defense is non-existent. Ozzie has brought his game back and can be counted on most likely. Why would the Wings risk screwing this up to grab a goalie who wouldn't be any better and could very well be worse in the playoffs?
-
A checker is a possibility and clearly the most popular among the fans. But I think we'll move for a stay-at-home defenseman.
-
Holland said no goalies and we don't need one. Not to mention it's inplausible. The waiver is where the Wings will make a move, if we make one at all, methinks.

Kenny likes to confuse people. It's all part of the game of negotiations. That being said, I've never seen Betts play I don't think. I can't imagine a guy I've never heard of would be worth acquiring when we have so much talent in the works. I'd really only like to make room for an experienced playoff vet with a lot of heart and grit.

I don't think he'd trade away players for picks. I think Holland would like to have as many players on the roster as possible come playoffs, so we have options. And obviously trading for players isn't going to clear roster spots. At most expect one player to be traded. More likely is he'll sign somebody without trading if he can. I expect a 3rd or 4th liner. It hardly seems like we need a player anymore, for the past week or so, but we can't ignore the problem we were having and I'd rather we take a chance. If it doesn't work we have a plethora of players we know DO work.

I'd take Hossa-Datsyuk-Zetterberg over Malkin-Crosby-Kovalchuk any day of the week.

Did someone already notice that Pronger is off the market? Looks like it's going to be a slow trade deadline with no blockbusters.
-
Very cool. See, when the players are classy to the fans, the fans return the favor.
-
Detroit's not getting a goalie. Holland already dismissed it, aside from it making no sense. I do still think we'll get someone. I didn't think it would be going down to the wire, though, considering it won't be a blockbuster.

I really liked what I saw tonight and I hope it continues tomorrow. Certainly if any team can keep that level of play up for many games it's the Wings. But I finally get to watch a whole game tomorrow night and I hope we stomp the Avs. To those of you who saw the Holland interview: Did he say we weren't making a trade at all? BEcause if he didn't go out of his way to dismiss it, I'd bet we are getting someone. I know Satan isn't the best, but I always liked him for some reason. Probably the name, heh. He used to be pretty gritty, too, didn't he?
-
I missed the Hossa situation: He got hit face-first into the boards, right? And he's entirely okay, just rest and he should come back, right? The clip I saw looked really serious. As for Kopy, I'm always glad when a Wing does good, let's hope it boosts his trade value (if we trade, if not, I'm glad to keep him really cheap). As for Ozzie, this is HUGE! I think he's been playing back to his old level, even in the debacle of the Nashville game, so I see thsi shutout as the continuation of the recovery of his game. So glad he's back.

So how are we doing guys, just got home and don't have a stream.
-
Anyone else think that Ericson coming up now, of all times, means they're looking at a defenseman for sure and want to see if Ericcson can be relied on for a while.
-
That may be so, but he's always been a Wing killer. He doesn't have to be amazing to push Chicago into the "dangerous" level.
-
I love reading "behind the scenes" stuff. Knowing that we might've gotten Blake instead of Stuart at the deadline is very interesting.
-
I feel bad for making fun of Lilja now. Now that I know he just sat there because he was freaking stunned and not just a pansy.
-
Babcock said Leino would be in the linup until March, so this is something that was planned, I think. They probably just want to rotate the young talent (Why Downey then?), which makes sense. This doesn't reflect anything about how Leino and Helm play, they'll be back.
-
Very cool. I think a lot of players when leaving the NHL should go to other leagues. A mediocre NHL player can be elite in another league. Always liked Palffy though.

That teaches me not to post until I watched ALL of the video.

I never thought I'd defend Ott in my lifetime, but the guy cross checked Nieds three times. On the third time Jiggy attacks him. Should he have gottena penalty? Obviously. Intent to injure? Um...no? Nieds didn't even budge so I'm sure it didn't hurt that bad. It's amazing to see Pronger get away with s*** 10x this and get a 3 game suspension, but Ott is out "indefinately" for this? What a joke.
