I sort of wonder if the Wings are still the "measuring stick." Honestly, they haven't made any noise this season for being a great team or tough to play against. Certainly the rest of the league knows this?

I hate it when announcers (Ken Daniels included) try to sugar coat things. "Not that they played badly, sometimes you just don't get the breaks." I don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out a team played badly, even if it is your home team.

I'm not worried about offense. We always have off games like tonight offense-wise. Every season we struggle with cycling and then get it together. What worries me is the defense. Leave the offensive lines alone.

You know what would be interesting? Replacing Raffy with Ericcson or someone. "You wanted a NTC, so enjoy." That sounds harsh. I'm not ganging up on Raffy, but it'd send a message to the team that no one is safe.

I'm a die-hard all-weather fan, but we cannot win the Cup if we don't pick up our play. We can talk all we want about last season having similar stats, but we DOMINATED last season, through most of our games until that February-March stretch. This years team, 25% into the season, hasn't dominated a single game. I have faith we can still turn this around and win the Cup, but as it stands right now, they cannot keep doing what they are doing.

To be fair, no one, not even Ken Holland, could predict that the best defensive team in the league would turn to crap over a summer.

I've only ever given up on the Wings mid-game once. I'm seriously tempted to just shut this game off.

You joined in 2004, you're familiar with those "old days" of "amazing" goalies who shut down the Wings. I just hope we're not seeing a return of that.

Good God, can we please get a second chance on these shots? One shot, then turnover isn't going to win you games.

That's what's so hard to figure out. These guys aren't old, except for Raffy and Lids, but they didn't age that much in 6 months. They're highly skilled and disciplined. No changes to defense from last year and yet no one is playing well. Illogical.

And yet our offense is playing so damn well. Yet no goals and a lot of turnovers. I'm not sure I can really fathom what's happening here.

No use straightening out the defense tonight, I agree with someone who posted above me. Now it's time to go all offense and obliterate them and figure out the defense later (i.e. change the system).

We can still win this. But damn, even if we do, doesn't change the fact that our goalies and defense has to be ******* better.

You won't make it to the playoffs if you play half-assed all season. EDIT: I think they mentioned before the game that Boston has the 2nd best defense in the league. Wonder where we are on that list.

I don't think anyone is saying this game is over. We're just tired of seeing the same defensive story game in, game out. Something has to change.
