The only possibility we have of keeping Hossa is if he stays at the exact same price. He won't take a cut, so the best we can hope for is a repeat of his current contract.
-
We can't keep the players we have and have too much youth in the system to make a trade. Wings will probably not make a move at all this year, and definately not before the trade deadline.
-
Couldn't we dump Filpulla, Hudler, Sammy, etc.? Those players are good, but they're replaceable, and probably for cheaper salaries if we do our "dumpster hunt" for hidden talent again. I've never been good at udnerstanding the business side, but why would we HAVE to get rid of Franzen or Hossa, and not be able to keep both?
-
But funny. Hudler was so damn uncomfortable. And then the video at the end! Holy God I thought it was just clucking! Now I'm not sure I want to know what it's all about.

Wow, is this at the Joe or what? Lots of Wings fans there.

Not cool. I enjoy a little trash talk here and there among friends, but it's always been generally accepted that you never make fun of someone for something they can't help (i.e. the lisp).

1. Ovechkin 2. Roenick 3. Kopitar 4. Selanne 5. Kolzig

More likely the boards would erupt into a frenzy over a single bad play and we'd complain that they didn't win 30-0.
-
Last time I checked, unlike teams that play the trap and are "boring", the Wings score goals while they're stopping the other team from scoring.

It's really starting to look like McCrimmon, though to be honest, I've only gotten to see maybe three games this season due to constantly working.
-
Any help would be appreciated. I'm looking for the original one, not the WInter Classic variation. I found it once, but it was out of stock and has been for as long as I could remember. Is there any place to buy one?

I love physical play and hate the idea of taking the fighting out of the game, but hits like that have NO place in this game. That's stupid and dangerous and should be an immediate expulsion from the league, at the very least a year long suspension. Interesting note, though, if fighting were allowed more frequently, would the enforcement help regulate dangerous hits like these?

As someone else noted, Detroit is already poor. Most of the fans come from non-GM dominated areas. Isn't it grand that as Michigan is falling apart, Granholm is appointed co-head of Obama's economic transition team? We're in good hands, folks. :|

Has Sundin lowered his price and are the Wings a possibility?
VM1138 replied to DRWExaminer's topic in General
Sundin only offers offense, which we have lots of. We need to tighten up the D. -
I used to bash him pretty hard, but he's a solid player. His role is just misunderstood. He shouldn't be expected to score goals because he will almost always hit the chest pad.

Damn, the only stream I can get that's smooth is from Vancouver.....ick...

Doesn't NHL.com have radio streams for each city that don't require plugins?

I have an exam tomorrow afternoon, but I'm not studying tonight. I'll do that tomorrow earlier in the day. Wings are more important.
-
Aren't the Wings like thrid worst in the league when it comes to penalties? Uncharacteristically undisciplined this season so far.

You're forgetting that San Jose has been a REALLY good team the past few seasons, but they've never had that killer instinct. Really, all it seems McClellan has done is gotten them to keep up the pressure. So I really don't think all this can be explained away with McClellan's departure.
-
Babcock is the greatest coach in the league right now, hands down. McClellan was big for us, but he was an assistant coach. Also, anyone who watches sports knows you can't blame the coach when things go down for a while. It's the players first, THEN the coach, because coaching is something that takes a while to have an effect on the players. We should be getting into gear any game now because Babcock has no doubt been waiting to see what happens, since it's early.
-
That's not an excuse. The reality is we didn't show up. We've played tired before, and we've played after bad reffing before, it shouldn't have this big f an effect. San Jose has always been a good team that couldn't finish. Now, with McLellan at the helm, they can finish. We just need to step it up against them, because they DO play a style similar to what we used to play. Of course, we don't play puck possession or defense this year, so who knows.
-
To be fair, it IS too early. Remember that year a few seasons ago when the Rangers were like the 2nd best team in the league up until January, and didn't they miss playoffs that year? WAY too early. But it IS damn frustrating, and something needs to be done. Thank God we have Mike Babcock. If nothing else, my faith in him is unshakeable.
-
But man, we don't have any options for a 4th line, we HAVE to stick with what we have. It's not like we could cobble together any combination of: Leino, Abdelkader, Meech (playing forward), Helm, or put Ericson and Meech on defense instead of Lebda. Sigh.

You speak truth. We've seen this before. The Wings didn't get worse. They're PLAYING worse. This won't last. Something will click, sooner or later. Remember the last few months of the 2002 season? Or parts of last season? We were so sure they would never win the Cup, but they won both years. There you go.
