Basically, Detroit played pretty well in the 1st, LA took over in the 2nd and half of the 3rd, and Detroit came back to tie it 3-3 thanks to a Filpulla interception. We went into OT, where Hossa looked dangerous (as always lately), then the SO where Datsyuk and Zetterberg, our first two shooters, scored to win the game.

McCarty is a fine 4th liner. Maltby is a good player, too, and has been playing great hockey. He's been scratched and playing less because we're always playing from behind and trying to even the score, so we rely heavily on our top two lines, I think. But I do see Malts retiring at the end of the season.

I'd love to see a blowout, just to get some more confidence, but these games never go how we predict, so it'll probably be 3-2, whoever wins. It'd be really nice to have a Wing (Hossa!) get a hatrick, or Datsyuk to score one of his amazing superhuman goals. We haven't seen one of those in a while and it'd be nice to see it again. Oh, and an Ozzie shutout would be nice.

The announcers are hilarious: "I saw an object being thrown onto the ice that had a light at the end of it, but didn't know what it was." "I thoght it was a falling star, but this isn't an outdoor game." Wow.

I think our Defense needs to go on one of those field trips for "team building" without the offense. They need to get it together and learn to communicate on ice better. Lidstrom has had an uncharacteristically rough start, and should lead the shaping up. However, you can't complain too much when you're 6-1-1!

Don't forget that 6 pts in the AHL equals 0 points in the NHL. Expect production to totally disappear and at the very best be cut in half when someone heads up to the NHL.

Now that their chemistry is building (that pass last night was amazing) and they're adapting to each other, I'd take the HDH line. Hossa's been on a tear. I'm more concerned about the chemistry on the other lines. I haven't see anything that really stands out yet, just a bunch of individual efforts. Also, I think we're used to seeing Dats and Z separate now. They were awesome to watch, but as long as the new line is producing let's hope Zetterberg's line gets some chemistry. Interesting note: Zetterberg is stuck being a 2nd liner due to his position, I'm pretty sure this makes him the greatest 2nd liner ever to play the game.

THis is crazy. Just a few games ago some were saying Hossa was a dud, and now he's the best player on our team and has saved our asses twice now. Things to work on: 1) Defensive positioning. 2) On-ice communication

I LOVE this jersey. But you can't find them for sale anywhere. I found one place for a ridiculous price and they were out of stock for over a year. Don't know if they ever got any in stock. Hopefully they will release an original version and not a crappy EDGE version for Christmas. EDIT: I'm referring to the original Cougar jersey, though this variation might be cool.

For a while there it looked like a bunch of football players trying to play hockey, everyone was tripping and falling and piling and dropping the puck and losing it and spinning around lost. On both teams. Yikes, how did the Wings D go from being class of the world to mediocre? They need to get it together, and fast. They're bad at positioning all the sudden.

One quick jab: Even with that 150,000 shopping spree, she still makes less than half of what any of the big four candidates make. So, technically, factually, she is the closest to "just like us" as any of them. Now, I have to agree, with my jab aside, that politics and sports don't mix. Physicality, as usual, has nothingt o do with it. Our defense men are being TERRIBLE in positioning, and giving up turnovers and opportunities. I get so damn tired of the whole physical argument, have you guys learned nothing?

I'm voting for McCain and Palin, but even I think it's a bad idea. Sports and politics should only mix as a result of a Championship recognition ceremony. Plus, how does it help to have sports fans booing you because they don't want politics mixing in with the game? THat doesn't scream of a great photo op.

Homer has had a great start to the season, but Franzen has had a great streak stretching back to what, December of last season? I'd say that's a little more than coincidental, especially considering he's had to recover from injuries, a Cup win, and the start and go of each playoff series which by all means shuold have messed with his mojo if he wasn't the real deal.

I can see another team in the area, but not in Toronto proper. That'd be ridiculous. Can you imagine those die-hard Leaf fans who have suffered with their team for so many years just suddenly saying "you're right, the waiting wasn't worth it, let's just jump ship?" If they were willing to do that, they'd be Wings fans.

The Wings have never been good on the shootout. Which doesn't matter because unless we're barely sqeaking into the playoffs, they have no bearing on anything.

He's shown he is a consistent goal-scoring threat, surprisingly one of the most consistent in the league it seems. I think he's definitely become a 50 goal scorer, but we'll see at the end of the year. A lot hinges on a long playoff run, as well.

Agreed. A lot of what we remember of Drake has been colored by the victory. I remember when we won that all the media outlets seized on his story, but in reality he wasn't THAT big of a factor, at least in the regular season. THere was no "win it for Dallas" storyline that was heavily viewed by most of us.

Why the hell would they decide to stop using puck possession, the thing that everyone credits our SC win with? Some people are retarded. The Wings have been playing....different. Babcock better bring the thunder and get these new people in line with the Wings philosophy. At the end of the day, the buck stops with him, and he's too good of a coach to not notice the change.
