I don't think sports people mind if woman harass them and interrupt them, ti's just us guys who aren't allowed to have a conversation with them for fear of annoying them, heh.
-
Is anyone still after him? I guess with Lang gone the Hawks won't be so good against the Wings. Now if they get rid of the other ex-Wings everything will be back to the way it was.
-
I don't believe it. THat's not even physically possible, even if they were a peewee team playing an NHL team. ANd if they were terrible enough to lose that bad, no way they'd score that lone goal.
-
He's been good ever since he revisecd his game, which leads me to believe this isn't a fluke. He'll be huge for us next year, too. He's a totally different, more reliable goaltender and has proved it. It's up to the offense to score goals now.
-
On paper this team should demolish everyone except the absolute deepest teams in the league. I am so freaking excited.
-
He could hack in in Europe, but he's done in the NHL. He admitted he has no motivation left, so why would anyone sign him here?
-
I became a die hard fan after we won in 97. I remember watching the last two games and loving every second of it. Yzerman drew me in, back in the day.

Chelios......being politically correct....? Does.....not....compute....

It's a shame. I guess I always assumed he'd retire a Wing, but I understand why he thinks Chicago is home. I hope he doesn't play for the Hawks, though.

Counterfeiting is so huge in China that it is one of the largest industries. Unless you buy it in an American bricks and mortar store, if it's from China it's most likely a fake and poorly made.

Just to comment on one of the original questions: Is this goalie tandem good enough to win the Cup? I say yes. Conklin is probably as good as Hasek was this year (and, being on a Wings team known for unexpected spectacular personal play, he could be better theoretically), and Ozzie is probably a little better, having his confidence back. So I'd say that, barring any huge unexpected goalie breakdowns, this tandem is at least as strong as last seasons.

The Lions are just that mindblowing.

Crappy team or not, it's a chance to play at the highest level and maybe get traded or signed in the future. It has to be a personal reason. THat being said, I can't imagine what it could be that would make him retire so young.

Spector: Wings have set themselves up to repeat
VM1138 replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Out of those "rivals" the author cites, the only ones that could pose threats to us are Dallas, Chicago, San Jose (because of their new coach--I'm generally not on the San Jose bandwagon the rest of the world is at the start of every season). Columbus could be a wild card, but other than that, nobody SIGNIFICANTLY improved. -
I might have done something similar. Nothing destructive, just place some sort of Red Wings item on the bag or attach it to it. Friendly little prank.
-
Here's an interesting scenario: Say th eWings go on to create a dynasty and win the Cup the next 4 or 5 years. Datsyuk and Zetterberg rotate Conn Smythe (because, let's face it, these guys were born for that trophy). Do you think people would say Crosby is clearly better?
-
If he becomes a Wing in any capacity I may just have to turn in my Fan Card.

Ericcson won't be as amazing as people think. He was extremely nervous out there when he played. He needs to mature. He'll be a solid extra D-man this season, maybe the season after he'll see Lilja-Lebda like minutes for a season or two. I don't see him cracking Top 4 until Rafalski or Lidstrom retires.
-
Once the passion of the moment wears off, it's obviosu Kronner did not score on our own goal. The angle he was shooting at was nowhere near the inside of the net. It ricocheted. I don't even think Lidstrom would have done that play any better. Sometimes freak accidents happen and that was one of them.
-
I love the fact that the Dark Knight is already weaving it's way into our popular vocabulary. Just goes to show the massive impact it's had.
-
I can't believe people ever truly doubted Kronner. Man, hockey season just needs to get here already...
-
This is one of those rare moments where the NHL seems much more enlightened than the other leagues.
-
See, I'm of the opposite persuasion. If you have any doubt about playing, then you shouldn't play because yuo can't guarantee you'll give it your all. Besides, if you truly love a sport like hockey, you won't have doubts until you're ready to quit.

He can still stay in Toronto, can't he?

It's way too early for this. Does anyone really think we'll have Kopecky and Sammy long-term? No. And with retirements, trades, etc., we have no idea what kind of condition we're in. There are some legit questions to be sure, but really, no one is the "odd man out" yet. It's perfectly feasible to make this work, especially if the cap goes up, we drop Kopecky and Sammy and just do with one or two less roleplayers. We should easily have cheaper replacements for them after this season. For all we know some of the young kids will have breakout years and offer cheap, more reliable alternatives.
