Chelios has been a great player for us. He had a great season and was absolutely clutch for us until late in the playoffs, when he was fighting an injury. Bring him back. Get rid of Lilja, pull up Ericcson. Fixed.
-
We need to pick someone up. Playing Dallas, Colorado, etc., it was clear their teams were simply missing something. If they stack up any more in the offseason the Wings need to do something to counter their move. Don't get complacent!
-
Traditionally players do that to show how many Cups they've won.
-
Fetisov and Larionov are retired, too. It's a charity game, I don't see why Yzerman wouldn't play. This would seriously be amazing, though those North American players stick out like a sore thumb. For once.

Keeping the same uniform sets us apart from the other teams taht change theirs every season. It shows that us fans aren't of the MTV-iPod-ADD group. We don't need to see different jerseys every time we watch the Wings.

Wow.....that would be something to see....think someone will be able to get a video?
-
Yikes, that is even uglier than Nashville's mustard ones.

My God, a fully developed, offensive, defensive, physical, puck possession machine..... Datsyuk Next Season=The Perfect Hockey Player?

Lidstrom's name is easily mispronounced. Someone who speaks a little nasally will say it like "Lindstrom" and someone who hears them will mishear. It's kind of funny, I don't get upset over it. It'll just be added to the Lidstrom mythos.

I love how he's trying to force the league to actually commit to increasing scoring after his critique during the Finals when he said "Don't give me that, the league doesn't want more scoring, or else they wouldn't be making all these calls." Or something like that. He has a point.
-
I'm surprised, Lidstrom seems to finally be a well-known name around Michigan. He hasn't reached Yzerman status yet but he's a pretty big name now in sports communities.
-
There will come a time when defensemen will be highly valued. Stocking up on cheap, quality defenseman will come in handy when overpaid forwards fail.
-
What's crazy about that is that despite leading Phaneuf by 125 votes, Phaneuf was only behind by like 75% in the points category instead of like 98%. I wonder how they calculate that?

Awesome, Dats and Ovie cleaned up with their awards tonight. Kudos. It's pretty cool that Dats is turning into a pretty high chance of winning an award or two every year. Nick will be glad to have some company in that "annual winner" category.
-
Anyone else find it ironic that Red Wing is carrying the Cup at a premier of a movie about the Toronto Maple Leafs?
-
I don't see why not. Lidstrom's skills haven't ever declined that I can notice, even in the slightest. Can you name a defenseman who is several levels above the rest? Maybe in the days of Niedermayer, Stevens, MacInnis in their prime, but now there are a bunch of almost's and nobody's. I don't see any strong competition for the next year or two.

Now THAT was a respectful interview.

It's slightly big, but nothing too bad. Still comfortably wearable. I've seen bigger "fitted" hats. But yeah, ti sucks that they don't make one for kids. My little brother has a regular one just because he wanted one and it's obviously huge.

Question: Will the Wings sign a big name free agent?
VM1138 replied to hckypete96's topic in General
They're asking him to take a pay cut. That on top of his family loving California and all his roots being there, it's unlikely he'll take less. It would be awesome if he did, but I doubt he will now. -
Kopecky has never done anything really well. His "great play' streaks are "worst play" streaks for any other player on the team. He's done a whole lot of nothing and should probably be let go in favor of someone who can have some sort of impact.

Now that we are unlikely to resign Stuart the odds of the Wings signing a decently big name just skyrocketed. -
Wow....that's asking a lot of him...I honestly don't think he stays now, which puts us in a bit of a pickle....
-
Like, perhaps....recruiting a new Wings player?
-
Don't we have like 10 million to play with next season?

I think we will sign someone. By virtue of retirements, etc. We pretty much have to. But I think we'll make a fairly splashy one year deal for a guy who's never won the Cup. You NEED fresh blood to keep the hunger alive in the team, and I think Holland knows that. I expect us to pick up a consistent scoring forward.
