A healthy Kopecky is as useless as an unhealthy one. Hartigan is also useless.

Wow, we only finished under 100 points four times? Amazing.
-
It was the highlight of the entire Stanley Cup playoffs, and as some announcers noted afterwards, one of the absolutely greatest plays in Finals history.
-
But let's not forget about people who came and left, or came later. There very well may have been 1.4 million over the course of the parade. Either way, it's still a hell of a lot more than any other team could have rallied. Detroit will always be Hockeytown, regardless of sell-outs, ratings, etc. The fans will always find some way to support the team.

More dents just add to the glory of the Cup. The thing gets bashed around every year and it's still here, over 100 years later. I love it! And does anyone else think Lebda has earned himself a long-term contract just by virtue of being hilarious entertainment?
-
The banners and Cup are okay...just so long as they ewren't hanging around his house or anything. But TP? Why would you do that? That's such a hassle to remove and classless. But yeah, I say in most cases leave his family alone, but I doubt, considering the occasion, he'd care all that much if he WEREN'T TPed.

Sammy would be great as long as he stays on the bottom two lines. I say we stand pat, just replace whoever retires, and hope that Filpulla and Hudler will finally break out. If they don't we'll have a lot of cap space to fix the holes come the trade deadline.
-
If he likes it here as much as he says he does, he'll get that itch to win it and experience it again. The best time to ask him is after the Cup win wears off a little bit, I think. Once he wants to taste it again.

Just wanted to add that a quick search of Barnesandnoble.com brought up quite a few books still available or about to be released. Stanley's Back! (Detroit News 2002) Believe! (1998 Freep) Hockeytown in Hi-def (Detroit News 2008 Championship Book) Forever Hockeytown (Freep 2008 Championship) Detroit Red Wings 2007-2007 Stanley Cup Champions (Olympia Entertainment) Most of those don't have covers yet on the website, but they're there nonetheless. Most of them come out late June it seems. Just an FYI for those of you, like myself, who love a good read.

Does anyone know when Sports Illustrated will release it's Red Wings Championship book? I love the one from 2002, but I can't remember how long it took to be released. Same question for the FREEP collector's book, if they're doing it.

I'm assuming those streams were live and that if you missed it all, yuo juts missed it. Anyone have any video of some of the stuff? I especially want to see the Hudler thing.
-
Probably wouldn't be out in bookstores til next week then, when most get their deliveries, eh?

Someone there even wrote a thing on their website defending the NHL from Tiger Woods' insult. They're definitely warming up to the NHL again. If the NHL recovers in the next two years, the Wings and Penguins can take full credit for rejuvinating the NHL in spite of all the stupidity the league does that hamstrings it.

I've been thinking that Sammy COULD stay and I wouldn't mind, just so long as he isn't relied on for second line production, like he has been. We need to fill a spot up there, and then let him be a role player and I'd be happy. So we all seem to be ina greement that all we need is a scoring winger, preferably a good two-way player?
-
Any news on whether thsi will be one of those box set things like ANaheim had last year? Or will it be single disc? And yes, that Wings box set is amazing.
-
All the more reason to get rid of those teams and stick with traditional markets.

It's clear to me that we need to sign someone who is hungry for the Cup, in order to infect this team and keep them from growing complacent. We need hungry palyers, and maybe that is why our moves post-Cup before didn't work. We didn't try to keep that fire going. Or maybe we did. But you can never have too much depth, and if there's someone out there who can throw up a few points without being a liability, go for it.
-
Just imagine what this team would be like 100% healthy. I can't wait for next season, we're going to repeat!
-
Lebda is awesome. I absolutely love the pros getting blasted. I think it's funny that he can't say who's at his house because he'd be putting them "under fire." Someone screaming in the background. Hilarious! Just imagine being part of that whole team.
-
If they're not sold out around here I can grab a couple copies and mail them to you. I can't imagine shipping would be too much for newspapers. Theyu're pretty light. PM me.

The best thing to do is to not change TOO much, but just to tweak a little. Lilja needs to be gone and replaced with Ericcson. That way he has all season to get comfortable playing with Chelios and learning how to be a great one. Samuelsson should only leave if we can find a responsible defensive winger with an ACCURATE slapshot. I don't know who that is. Hudler and Filpulla didn't deliver during the regular season, and so we may need some more depth JUST IN CASE. Really, if you want to ensure your team is hungry to win, find a veteran (ala Drake) who has never won so he can infect the team with desire to win. So, does anyone fit this profile: Winger. Smart defensively. Well-timed shot with accuracy. Good for 15-20 goals. Maybe a grizzled veteran with no Cup?

It's up to Hasek. He didn't play all that bad for us, and as a pure backup he'd be fine. He's proven he can be a team player and you don't let people like that go. If he can accept being a backup and go for cheap, I say bring him back and just give Jimmy Howard a few more games. So instead of a Tandem it'd be....a Tri-dem? EDIT: Oh, and Chelios should stay. His experience is priceless. Let Lilja go and bring Ericcson up in his place. Then our defense has been upgraded even more. Can you imagine watching that defensive squad go at it? And then Eric could learn from Chelios which has shown to be priceless. Look how well it helped Jiri Fischer. As for Drake....I'm torn. He wasn't really there for the regular season, but came up huge in the playoffs. But now that his storyline has ended, I think he'll retire. Either way, the guy was great for us and I wouldn't mind if he stuck around.

There is no way Sundin deserves that kind of cash. We have our marquee players, now we need some secondary talent.
