After last night, I don't know how this is all going to end up. They had a great chance to put Pitts away. I have faith we can do it, but I'm going to try to stay away from these types of threads. Overconfidence is what got us into this mess, if you're the superstitious type.

Agreed. Call me superstitious but the Wings always seem to lose when this forum thinks the series is in the bag. Whenever bragging and confidence reaches fever pitch, the Wings lose. Time to institute a ban on post-Cup threads before we win the cup.

What the hell is wrong with you people? Nobody "choked." Both teams had chances, Detroit played better. Yeah, some made mistakes but then they made up for those mistakes with huge plays later. To say anyone sucks or "choked" is a mistake. Everything was going the Wings way for the last half of the game. We just need to get off to a better start and finish better. It's not like we played like s*** and couldn't get anything going. Jesus people. A Stanley Cup win in Game 6, but most of the fun sucked out of it because it's on enemy ice.

Really disappointed. I'll miss 85% of game 6 and all of game 7, if it happens. Damnit. I'm not blaming ANY of the Wings. They outplayed Pittsburgh almost constantly from Period 3 on. What more can you expect? The bounces literally didn't go our way.

I've got a good feeling....no, a GREAT feeling! We've seen all along this year that the Wings deserve the Cup and they've proven it many times. Now they get to earn it for real! The offense is awake, defense is a wake, and that goal didn't seem to deflate the WIngs any. They're calm and still dominating. Pittsburgh may have energy, but I don't think it'll be enough.

Detroit was still dominant after that goal. We'll come out strong in OT. It's our Cup now! They'll fight for it! It seems like they finally woke and realized that they're really,a ctually, truly playing for the Stanley Cup! Let's go Wings!

Good Lord I'm excited.

I'm ready. Are you guys ready? We are 20 minutes away from lifting the Stanley Cup, I can feel it. An absolutely HUGE 3rd period. The Wings will apply their traditional 3rd Period Pressure, which means they will be all over Pittsburgh until the Pens make a mistake. You can easily see the Wings getting better. 1st Period: No good chances. 2nd: Amazing chances, but unable to capitalize. 3rd: Amazing chances, capitalized. Bingo. Bango.

I don't know what people here are so unhappy about. Yeah, there's been some frustrating plays, but it's 100% better than Period #1. And we're only down one goal. Even mediocre teams can come back from a 2-1 deficit. The Wings can do this, people. Score one goal and it's all even. Even force this puppy into overtime, if necessary, but preferably win it in Period 3. I feel it coming boys!

The Wings are going to step it up a notch and show the world why they're the best team in hockey. I expect a gradual erosion of Pittsburgh's dominance as the Wings take over play and score 3 unanswered goals to take the lead by early 3rd. They'll win this one for me...because I'm working and won't be able to see ANY of the next two games, if they happen. And nothing would piss me off more than putting in over 300 hours this season watching the Wings to miss the conclusion. So win this one tonight boys!

When they start passing stick to stick again, and start taking shots on the forehand instead of weak backhanders, they will win. I have faith. But I've had a bad day, and this is making it harder to stay positive. I'm not bailing on the team and I have a feeling we'll rally (it's only 2 goals, we have two periods to score at least 2). A little better decision making a little more hustle and we'll be back in this game. It's bizarre, and certainly it's nerve-wracking seeing a virtual repeat of Game 3, but remember, we almost came back to win Game 3. This time we could finish the job. Which would make this a classic game if we won the Cup like that!

The game doesn't start til about 17 minutes after 8. I can't freaking wait!

It's not about who is the best, though. They will "balance" it so not a single team has too much clout. So even if we had 4 of the 5 best in the world, only one or two would be listed. So I think Lidstrom and Zetterberg will be our reps in the Top 5, with Datsyuk maybe making it into the Top 10.

Flip and Hudler aren't developing as fast as we'd hoped. But at least Hudler is putting on a show in the playoffs. I'd let Flip go. Now way in hell I'd lose a sure-fire secondary unit with Franzen.

I'll be recording it on NBC. Don't get CBC. But my quality is really crappy. I have an HD TV, yet NBC comes in all blurry and white washed.

Clearly we need to strip Lidstrom of the captaincy before he becomes the first European Captain to win the cup! Don Cherry can't allow that to happen!

Regardless of the stats, everyone knows Zetterberg has been the more consistent, better player. I really don't see anyone other than a Red Wing winning Conn Smythe.

I've only got to work 6 hours today, but it's going to kill me! I can't wait for 8 oclock!

1.) Any number of players could be the next big thing. Hudler and Filpulla still have to have a breakout year like Franzen is having, so watch out for them. Helm could have a great year, he's displaying some early Datsyuk-like qualities. Ericcson may be brought up on defense, and after early jitters could have a solid first year. In the long run, I think the bright lights of this team will be Helm, Abdelkader and Ericsson. I just don't see Hudler as becoming a marquee player, but hopefully he or Filpulla can step it up. 2.) Ozzie is locked in for another 3 years I think. I don't know if he'll retire after his contract is up, but we've got him that long at least. 3.) It's sort of a strategy. Nobody else was looking at Europe, so the Wings started searching really deep for obscure players to lure here. It didn't start in Sweden, it started in Russia, and then other teams caught on to Russia, so we moved to another country. Once we got so many Swedes, I think we just kept looking, assuming they would all play comfortably with each other, being able to communicate with each other and help each other develop. 4.) I read that the Octopi is dumped into the Detroit River, which is illegal, but done anyway. Oh, and welcome to Wings fandom! Hope you stick around, the Red Wings are a great team to root for and have such a rich history. Even we're learning something new every day it seems.
