As long as the Wings keep retaliating SMARTLY I don't mind. And as long as no one on the Wings gets hurt. But it was definitely exciting hockey. I just hope the Pens stay confused and frustrated and undisciplined.

I don't like making fun of players for no reason, but seriously, EVERY SINGLE TIME Crosby is shown, he has this bewildered look on his face,a cting like whatever just happened was the worst BS int he world. Great captains don't do that.
-
I saw a hell of a lot of fighting back, including Datsyuk, Frazen, and Lilja INSTIGATING. Shock! Maybe he's just mad the Wings won't blow this series due to bad penalties and needless fighting? Fights are so much more exciting when they are rare and meaningful anyways.

Yeah, any born outside of Canada and the US are not human beings. What an amazing, exciting game. As usual though, Game 3 is a TOTALLY different series. What I do wonder though...are they going to keep pulling that cheap s***? Or do you think the league is going to warn them? I wouldn't think so, seeing how Anaheim won last year.
-
No kidding. If they allow reviewable goals, he'll have a career year, playing with players like Dats and Z who will be in their prime.
-
No reason to change his game. Because every team is grooming players like him. If he changes his game, then the Wings are at a disadvantage. Besides, so what if we get a goal waved off now and then? It's very rarely actually hurt us in the long run. It just fires the team up to score that many more goals.

That would be a really lame chant.

I would much rather have the NHL Playoffs on a station like NBC than ESPN. No matter that it's the "biggest name is sports", it's still a cable station. NBC has a wider reach I'm sure, and thus more exposure. The NHL has been recovering fairly well and is gaining ground in the world of sports, which is amazing considering the difficulty in actually finding VS for many people. People are seeking out the NHL, which is a good sign.

I, for one, am a firm believer that Detroit Cup victory will stabilize the Middle East!

Actually, there is a question. The Pens are putting Roberts in I heard, and that can only mean they want to gun for one of our guys. So McCarty needs to stay. And Drapers new line is the only way Sammy seems to produce. I say keep them together. Flip-Mule-Cleary will work great, especially with Cleary finding his feet.

Has Kronwall Been Our Best Defenseman In These Playoffs?
VM1138 replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Kronwall probably can't become one of the best while he's hitting people. He's amazing, but to be truly like Lidstrom he'd have to focus entirely on the game itself. So I feel confident of our post-Lidstrom era, but I'd prefer it if he focused on puck possession set ups and train Stuart to better time his hits to replace him in that role. -
I wonder why he looks behind him, almost like he's blaming the player behind him, who just steps over him.

Holland: Franzen will be in the lineup this week
VM1138 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Even better! That way if Pittsburgh gets any momentum going home, it can be crushed by the dominance of the Mule. -
But wait, I thought the Wings had the refs in their pockets? :|
-
If anything I think Ovechkin has earned the right to be the poster child of the NHL. And geez, do you think Holmstrom would surpass Gretzky's record for all those goals he's had waived off over the years?
-
Well, it's: Zetterberg Datsyuk Ozzie Lidstrom Why Lidstrom? Detroit's stifling defense and transition game is the reason the Wings have gotten this far. He hasn't been as flashy as the others, but can anyone argue that if we hadn't managed to play calm, shut-down defense and set up great transitions we'd still be here? Lidstrom is our rock, and he would probably get my vote at this time, though it would be easy to pick the other three.
-
Let's not forget our lesson from the Dallas series. NEVER brag that a series is over until it's actually over.
-
I think it's a case of a terrible ref (seriously, there are so many out there with much more merit and credibility), blowing his load way too soon and penalizing someone for the potentiality of committing a penalty down the road. You know, sort of like thought-crime. Stop them before they commit the penalty.
-
How long do you think it'll be before the Wings get penalized for shooting the puck at a goalie, thus interfering with the goalie's ability to have a shutout? And if Pittsburgh didn't "get the calls" tonight, including a penalty and a disallowed goal on a legal goal, I don't know what they're expecting.
-
A 4-0 win without Franzen. A 7-0 win with Franzen? I believe!
-
Yeah, they seem to think it's something to be "won." Let them come up with their own thing.
-
Probably because for all his failures, their pockets get fatter as a result.
-
I have to work tonight. Usually I can listen to it on the radio, but it's been so insanely busy lately with customers that even if I can get it to come in on the radio I'll be too busy or it'll be too loud to hear. Guess I'll have to wait to watch it after work at 10. I feel good about this game, but I'm sticking with avoiding jinxes and cockiness by saying it'll be a good tough game.
-
Two things: 1) Players have no say over whether or not they play. Doctor's have to clear them. 2) Death is not an "injury" to be played through.
-
I have a better idea. We'll bet Hockeytown, and if we win, they give us Malkin and pay his salary. Or they have to restrict Crosby from the media for the rest of his career.
