I don't know about their boards, but I find that it's always worst when you first start posting in another forum. Then you can identify to good posters and the trolls and adjust accordingly.

A new arena would help. Not solve the problem, but it would help. A lot of people who have already been there don't go back because of the bad neighborhood at night and the confusion of access and parking.

Ride that line to the Cup baby! Deal with the underperformers later.

Well, to be fair, they're not going to get any air time on Friday nights. NBC isn't going ot pre-empt their schedule for it. And Saturday afternoon games do draw a lot of people relaxing. I would imagine these would have the biggest ratings on TV and radio, since people will bel istening to it on the radio while running errands or relaxing and watching the game with family or friends.

See? Fans CAN affect the game!

Wings staying in front of Dallas net for Game 5
VM1138 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
They better camp right out in front of that net. If they disallow one goal, do it again. If they keep disallowing them, it makes the problem with reffing that much more obvious. If they don't we eventually win. -
As leader of an organization you have to publicly stand by your officials. If he is worth his salt he is dealing with it behind the scenes. Banning screens pretty much guarantees we go back to the old days of 1-0 games all the time, which is the opposite of what Bettman wants. Let's hope he realizes it.

I don't think a huge re-organization is possible, even beneficial. I do, however, think he playoffs should be reorganized. The top 16 should be seeded, regardless of conference, and then weeded out. This would eliminate the yearly problem of the Conference Finals being more exciting than the Stanley Cup finals. Just imagine if, say, Detroit and Anaheim could play for the Cup, or Detroit and Dallas, Colorado (when they get their act together), etc. Would also make matchups more interesting.

Flyers fans are the worst fans in the history of the NHL. I wonder if their team is embarassed of them? The atmosphere there must be like 20,000 drunken ravers.
-
Yeah, it'd be nice, but let's not kid ourselves, Philly never stood a chance to win this series. It's over next game.
-
One thing seems to be certain: Crosby is easily rattled. EDIT: And at least judging from this game: Datsyuk and Zetterberg even on bad days are better than Crosby and Malkin.
-
Trade two amazing players for one amazing player and the possibility of another amazing player? Seems to be a lateral move at best, horrible move in the end. Laughable even.
-
Why the hell are Philly fans booing an icing?
-
I'm surprised that "Limiting Datsyuk, Zetterberg" is winning. I'd hardly say there were limited, thye were just waved off.
-
Or a rare cross-over. Detroit vs Toronto. I'm nto sure Chicago has a big enough fan base right now. Give them a few more years to recover from the blackouts the past decade.

Welcome to Eastern Conference hockey. After watching the Wings for years, every team looks sloppy in comparison.

Wow, nice job so far Flyers! This is great, I never thoguht they'd be up 2-0 against the Pens, even if it is early. If they can pull this off....the loss to Dallas is a little less bitter.

God that must have sucked terribly. I enjoy the NBC games, though. Nice national exposure, plus matinee games always have a different feel to them.

Better for this team to lose on or two heading to the finals?
VM1138 replied to NHLrules?'s topic in General
I was thinking about this, btu I don't think it's really true. We haven't had a particularly grueling run. I don't think one 7 game series would drain us goign into the Finals. We played some pretty brutal series in 2002 and still won, despite Carolina having more rest. Of course, Pittsburgh is much better than Carolina ever was. If they close it out on Sunday it won't be an issue at all, I wouldn't think. -
Why the hell would Philly and the Pens play? They have a national stage right now, playing a 7 game (if Philly had any decent skill) series. Give it to the West, let the world know there are more hockey teams than the Penguins.

Filpulla never developed consistency, so he's a dud, including these playoffs. Cleary...well, I don't know what happened to Cleary. He's making plays but nothing seems to be paying off for him. I don't knwo if he'll ever get back to form. It seems when something like this happens to a player they just taper off. I hope it's not the case. Hudler has always been decent, but I'm not sure if he's here to stay.

I still wonder why the hell the Wings can't break that 10 win streak mark. This really wasn't a surprise, I think some of us just didn't want to say it out loud. The Wings have this locked (eventually). The key is: Can we finish it Saturday, and will that extra game screw us over against a fresh, rested, confident Penguins team? We all know the Pens will sweep, so they'll have a what....11-1 record? Well, the media will focus on how there are now chinks in the Wings armor, and all that talk about the unstoppable Wings who fall to 11-3 is over. Focus shifting to Pens. What that means in the long run, I don't know. But I just hope we finish Dallas off early enough to take out the Pens in the Finals.

I ended up having to run to the Emergency Room all night, so I could only listen to the game. Disappointing, but it didn't sound like the WIngs played badly. Two disallowed goals and a couple posts. Dallas played much better, what was expected at the beginning, the Wings just weren't prepared. I think next time their killer instinct will be back.

Franzen picking up golf gear? Let's hope that's not a sign!

How on earth would you even think about missing a game that could potentially send the Wings to the freaking Stanley Cup Finals?!
