Floppa hurt again? Who here called that? I know someone did. We are just spot on with predictions tongith. WHere's that guy who predicts 14-2 wins??
-
Colorado is starting to realize their defense is still inferior. Franzen is unstoppable!
-
Nice, goal about 5 seconds after I posted that they were going to score.
-
One frustrating thing: Why the hell aren't we hitting back??? There have been so many missed opportunities. Every Colorado hit gives them some sort of energy or momentum. Every avoided hit by Detroit makes them look like they're not aware of what's going on. Clearly the Avs' message is: This is our house. So we need to disrespect their house. Although I do think the Wings are going to score soon. I can just feel it.

Theodore has been lucky so far it seems. But even if he does get confident and start playing extremely well, the WIngs can still beat him. They've beaten Nabakov, nearly beaten Giguere, beaten Ellis and Kipper. We can handle Theodore.
-
Wings up 2-0! Just messing with you guys stuck watching the Tigers game. Although so far on VS, I'd rather not be watching at all if I can't watch it on FSD. Or well....it's close.

All I know is that I'm sick of the only radio commercials for the NHL I hear having to do with the Crosby and the Penguins' series against the Rangers and not any of the other series.
-
Detroit should be cautious of any team they play, but they shouldn't be afraid. What is Dallas doing? They beat an undisciplined, non-offensive club in Anaheim, and they're beating San Jose, perennial second round choker with no finishers. I'm not trying to diminish their accomplishments, just putting it in perspective. Detroit beat an inexperienced but feisty Nashville and hopes to beat the Avalanche, one of the hottest teams the last half of the season and in the playoffs, but that suffers from injuries. I think what this spells is that there are a lot of unknowns. If Detroit and Dallas go up against each other I think it will be the first time both will be healthy and not playing a depleted and/or inexperienced opponent. It truly would be a battle of epic proportions, and the league would really need a Detroit-Dallas finals. I'm rooting for Detroit of course, but Dallas wouldn't just roll over. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's beat Colorado first.

You know, I'm really disappointed in the Rangers. Like someone said, they seem to get worse the more this goes on. I'd really hate for Pittsburgh to cruise to the Finals. Though I have a bad feeling that is what will happen.

I hate statements like this. You can struggle with a crappy team and then totally dominate a good team. This is hockey. It's not a video game. You don't have ratings before each game that dictate who will win. If you lose to a bad team it doesn't mean you can't beat the good teams, just like beating the bad teams doesn't mean you'll beat the good teams. Each and every game we start at 0-0 and everyone, even the minor league player in his first NHL game can make an impact. This is why there are no excuses, at all, at the end of the day. "Well, if so and so wasn't injured we could have...." takes you right down the raod to "well, if so and so played better we could have..." Bottom line is, all that matters is the score.

We've gotten way too cocky. Daring them to put Forsberg in the lineup? He may end up a non-factor, btu he could also end up a VERY BIG factor. Gaining a fan favorite who is also an excellent hockey player, a recovered Theodore, and playing at home can rally any team. I'm still confident, but let's not get cocky, this series isn't done.
-
No mistake. Datsyuk plays like there are two of him on the ice.
-
True, but Maltby really elevates his game in the playoffs, and even at the end of this season. He could probably help, too. But I agree, don't mess with the chemistry yet.
-
I am bored to tears with baseball, but I'm all for all Detroit teams winning!
-
Oh man, how awesome would it be for someone to infiltrate Colorado and throw an octopi? Why hasn't anyone thought of this before? That's a way to take the wind out of home ice advantage!
-
I'm not realy sure why Wilson and Marleau are still around. Wilson is a little whiney dog and Marleau is a perennial let-down.
-
Their message boards are even crazier than ours. They're throwing ALL their players under the bus it seems. Not just jumping on a select few. There are threads for how bad about six different players are. Yikes!

Which is better, a long series with the winner being banged up (or potentially better trained and prepared for Round 3), or a short series where the winner could be rested (or out of shape and no longer in the high gear they were in?) I'm with the majority I think in hoping for the Sharks to make it a long series. I don't want to pick a winner, I'm sticking with my policy of not picking our poison. I know it's way too early, but wouldn't it be interesting for both the Wings and Stars to sweep and meet each other fully healthy and rested? Talk about a battle royale. Not looking past Colorado, though...just an idle thought.
-
Absolutely true, but we didn't admit it in a poll.
-
My God that would suck. Can't we have a good matchup just ONE time in the last 10 years? I think I'd just about die to see the Wings play the Rangers or Montreal. I'm not a fan of Pittsburgh but they could be fun to watch. But let's just hope the Wings get that far. We're only up 2 games. It could very well be a long series.
-
Now I really hope Colorado doesn't come back. They don't deserve it. Way to support your team. A 2 game deficit is not that huge anymore. Which is why I hope the Wings keep the pressure on.

Zetterberg stays. Franze stays. Kopecky goes (if they have a replacement lined up) Flip is trade bait, but if no one takes him, he stays. Stuart stays if he wants. I really don't know what he will do. I think if we win the cup the euphoria will keep him here. Ericcson and Quincey stay. Howard stays. Lilja is trade bait, but I don't think anyone will bite. He stays. McCarty for sure stays. He's a no-risk investment and is paying dividends. Hartigan goes. Downey stays. And Samuellson is traded. With the talent blossoming on this team, I think Sammy's usefulness is outlived. Ideally traded for someone with a little accuracy. But since we won't get much for him, I expect him to go to a crappy team in need of a decent defensive forward for cheap. Maybe they'll give up some young talent for him.

I'm excited to see Montreal or the Rangers make. If the Wings make it, those matchups would be awesome. I don't think Pittsburg has what it takes, neither does Philly. Montreal or the Rangers have the best chances in the East. I think I'd have to quit work so I won't miss anymore games if the Wings play any one of them. Probably the only time I'll see that matchup in my lifetime. Those are also the best matchups for the NHL's stature.
-
This series is far from over. Two games in Colorado we COULD win easily, or the return of Forsberg and a hot Theodore could cause problems. Of course I still think the Wings will win, but Colorado isn't out yet. I would think Wings fans would have caught on by now given the WIngs' history as recently as last round.

Actually Brian Burke of ANaheim complained during last years playoffs. Yep.
