Red Wings front office rumors from CBC

Nill has been amazing for the Wings. But I agree with some posters: I don't think it's fair to keep him where he is. He's been way too good and he DESERVES to move up. I don't want him to leave, but he deserves to.

Wings Game 6 pre-empted by the Pope.

The Pope coming to the US is kind of a big deal. It sends a lot of political messages and important religious undertones. It sucks for people in New York but I can udnerstand why they would preempt a game for this. Now golf on the other hand...

    Avery vs. Brodeur Battle Continues

Fatso? Avery is a clown. I used to like his agitation, but now it's just childish. Avery's a joke, and he's way past his potential. Brodeur is one of the best goalies ever and a classy guy. I have to side with him.

    Sick of the negativity...

The criticism goes way too far. A true fan DOES NOT jump on the back of their favorite teams' player because he's not scoring. They want him to score, but the insults and the bandwagoning is ridiculous. It's as close to a fact as a subjective debate can be: Real fans don't bandwagon.

WQF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1 (OT)

I don't understand why people say always dismiss Osgood's performances beacuse he doesn't face a lot of shots. Last I heard having a great defense doesn't make you a less than spectacular goalie. I mean, shot amount or no, he was pitching a shutout until a ridiculously difficult shot came at him with 6 men on the ice and a whole lot of clutter.

WQF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1 (OT)

You're right. They should just not play OT and take the series loss. I mean, with OT and two possible games left, there's no reason to continue playing right? I'm sorry, I understand the frustration, but I'm sick of people (not just in hockey, but in life in general) who ***** and give up before the fight is over. History only remembers the ones who fight until the end.

What? Outcoached? Not hardly. Outplayed? 53-18 or something in shots? Or how about how Detroit has dominated most the series? Jesus. Some people love bandwagons too much.

And every other team. This is the PLAYOFFS people. It's like you guys haev never watched hockey before. CAROLINA had us freaking into 3 OT in the finals. Just because Nashville isn't a good team on paper doesn't mean us struggling with them is bad. We can struggle against Nashville and totally whitewash a team like San Jose or Dallas. If it all went according to paper they wouldn't even play. I want the record to show that I was here, and having faith, and feeling confident going into OT. The only way Nashville scored was on a 6 on 5. They won't be pulling their goaltender in OT, so Wings have the edge.

Amen. See the rest of you next year, those of us with a little faith will enjoy this long playoff run as it continues.

WQF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1 (OT)

How many times have we seen this story? No, IO'm not talking a 2-1 OT loss. I'm talking a close 2-1 OT win followed by a blowout once the air is taken out of Nashville. Gee, it's almost like we've all forgotten the Colorado series in 02, where many of you probably thought we'd get blasted in that one, too. Have some freaking faith people. You can't bash the Wings. Sometimes pucks just don't go in. T hey're not doing anything badly. No one could ask them to play any better.

WQF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1 (OT)

They're just frustrated. And fairthweather. But whatever. The Wings will make it happen. The Wings and Nashville have been close all year. This is the playoffs, crap like that happens. Ellis is not the greatest. The Wings just need to get more players in front fo the net instead of having all three forwards int he corner. They're not doing anythign wrong. They're pretty perfect so far.

    NHL Out To Kill Tradition

If the NHL ever collapsed I would want several of the franchises to form a new league and keep teams like Florida, Nashville, etc, out of it. Can you said a league with only the Canadian, New England (and New York), Dallas, Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, Colorado and San Jose? I smell success!

WQF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1 (OT)

Two words: Garbage goals. I'm confident with this game, and Osgood has been great, despite the lack of shots against him. The shots agaisnt him were pretty good, and he's stopped them so far. I'm also sick of outshooting opponents only to score one or two goals. A lot has to do with terrible shots, but we need pressure. Rebounds, puck-handling, and garbage goals. It'll happen guys.

    NHL Out To Kill Tradition

I think a perfectly do-able and perfect statement would be to chuck the octopi on the ice, and have a giant fake check for 10,000 made out to Gary Bettman chucked out. Al should wave the check above his head, too. This could incite the final revolt league-wide against Bettman! A single act of defiance can show just how little respect the most important franchise in the NHL has for the leader. When a respected group or person defies a leader, it undermines the leader and ultimately leads to their demise.

    Emery not in Senators future.

Hopefully Emery isn't in the NHL's future, either.

WQF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1 (OT)

The Joe is never quiet in the playoffs. Hasn't been yet. It's been one of the loudest. Anyways, I don't think Nashville has momentun. Detroit definitely carried the mo out of that last game, even though they lost. THey were hammering Nashville, we've got a goalie change, we're coming home, and Nashville is realizing they don't have the experience to keep a team like Detroit down for an extended period of time.

Wearing my 1992 jersey for good luck. My CHelios one is officially banned for this series. Wore it twice and they lost both times. I've got a good feeling about tonight, though, and I didn't really the last two .

    GDT: 4/17 Other Playoff Games

Dallas better wipe the floor with those Ducks! Tonight should go a long way towards settling some series. My picks: Montreal closes out Boston. Washington evens series. Minnesota beats Colorado. Stars put Ducks on the brink. Calgary puts San Jose on the brink. Followed by Minnesota eventually Colorado's run, the Ducks coming back for a win to go 3-3, and San Jose coming back to 3-3.

    The Postive Energy Thread!

Here's some positive energy that is based in reality: 1) Goalie change. Always provides a team with a boost and Osgood has a lot to play for. 2) Going back to the Joe. Home Ice Advantage actually matters. 3) Does Nashville have the ability to keep a veteran team like the Wings on their heels? Unlikely. 4) Detroit has momentum, despite the loss. Their play in the 3rd period will carry over and they will be assaulting Nashville, and eventually Nashville will crack under the enormous pressure. Momentum+Experience+Excellent Goaltending=Win And here's some positiev energy without reality: I had a bad feeling the last two games. This game, I have nothing but excitement and positive energy. Surely if a bad feeling preceded a loss, the good feeling I had for games 1, 2, and 5 should precede wins!

    JLA Fans Are Pathetic

The Joe has been one of the loudest arenas in th eplayoffs this year. So long as all the fairweather fans stay out, the Joe should be rocking and energized for Game 5.

If we lose this series, will Holland be fired?

You're insane. Just.....insane. What the hell is happening around here?
  23. VM1138

Will You Be Surprised If We Lose?

No goalie's are reliable anymore, except for maybe Brodeur, Kiprusoff and Luongo. Any hockey fan knows that each year brings a bevy of "the next best goalie" who only disappear the next year. So getting a goalie is an EXTREMELY risky endeavor. Ozzie is solid, and when Hasek retires should take the number one spot UNLESS we can get a proven, consistent goalie like Kipper or Luongo. Anyone else, be they Price, Huet, etc., is extremely risky and will probably disappear.
  24. VM1138

    Hot goalie?

Ellis has not be that fantastic. He's been good enough so far, but we've seen he can be rattled, too. Ozzie for the win!
  25. VM1138

    Time for a new captain?

What the hell is going on aruond here? Two freaking losses and suddenly we're firing Holland, taking Lidstrom's captaincy away, surrendering the series and more? Scum-sucking fairweather fans. Doesn't anyone remember last year? The EXACT same thing happened. Or 2004? Both years we got out of the 1st round. You lose games. 2-2 series are EXTREMELY common. And now we're going back to Detroit with the hot goalie on OUR side and a lot of momentum from that late almost-rally. Experience will win out. Wings in 6.
