Yeah, that one is a joke. No way we'd be trading Maltby, Kopecky, a bunch of picks for Hossa, and then Chelios for a "younger defenseman."
-
The only thing making me think this MIGHT be legit is that photo. If it's not him it's someone who actually hangs out with him.
-
1) Look and see when the account was created (if you can). If it's recent, we know it's a fake meant to announce this. Interesting side note, I don't think that photo is available for anyone to get. That looks like a personal one.
-
That's possible. but why would he be adding random people? Also, why would he post that he got traded? He knows some of his friends would take this as huge news and it would get out. That would be a violation of trade deals, wouldn't it? Don't teams get the first chance at announcements?
-
I'm telling you guys, it's a waste of time. The guy is probably telling the truth. What will a screenshot prove? Nothing. The account could be a fake. If it IS true, it'll be announced tomorrow.
-
You guys, it doesn't matter. Even if this poster was telling the truth (and I'm sure he is), anyone could have posted that. The internet is full of people who have too much time on their hands. Why would Flip be adding friends on facebook? Same thing on myspace when celebrities do this. It's fake. Someone else is doing it. The poster on here is telling the truth I bet. That is not the issue. The site is a fake.

How much is Feds going to go for? Does anyone know? If he's cheap, it might be a good secondary pickup to Hossa or Sundin. Probably more complementary with Hossa than Sundin, but either way it's an improvement.
-
I'm not really sure on all the details on contracts, but how much room does Detroit have to play with for this season alone?
-
Then give them Filpulla. That clears a little money for Hossa as well. Sign Hossa to next season, too, and then, if need be, we can find another good player for '10. Remember, players come and go. There will be a new superstar in 10 and we can replace Hossa (or someone else), if need be. I'd take the risk.
-
I wish Holland would sit down and talk contracts with all our guys and just tell them what he has planned. Wouldn't it be amazing if he could swing Hossa, Sundin, and Stuart (ala 2002), and fit their salaries in with guarantees of future salaries for our current players? Highly unlikely, but it would be pretty damn cool. I'd rather have Hossan than Sundin, but I'll take Sundin as my second choice.
-
I can't believe Forsberg led teams on for the second season ina row, and he seems to be planning on it happening again next season. How many years in a row can a player stay in the news without freaking playing?
-
Unfortunately, I don't think the rivalry is renewed. There's just no bad blood between the players. After the game Laperierre didn't smack talk Downey or defend what he did. He said he respected what Downey did and probably would have done the same in his shoes. This isn't exactly the stuff of legend, though it was nice to see. I just don't see this game having any long-term effects on the dead rivalry.

What the hell? Those announcers sounded like they mocking everything about hockey in that. Not just Nick, but the fight, everything. Pure and utter contempt for the NHL.
-
At least the trade feasting is starting off cheap, unlike last year.
-
How old is Hossa? If he's under 30, I say trade Flip. That's hard for me to say, because Flip is really turning into a solid player. But let's look at the facts. Is Hossa, right now, better than Flip? Yes. Is Hossa, in the near future, benefiting from higher potential? Yes. Is Hossa young enough so that the switch won't really hurt the youth on Detroit? Really, getting Hossa for Flip would be a steal. And I'm a Filpulla fan. But to get Hossa, a certain offensive threat and a big body in exchange for potential? In a year when we're favorites for the cup but Anaheim and San Jose are really making pushes to challenge us? Make the trade, so long as we can keep Hossa next season.
-
That's a GREAT demonstration about the role fighting takes in the game. Most interesting thing I've heard or seen an announcer do in any sport.
-
And let's not forget that the announcers ALWAYS have to overhype anything. Remember if an obscure 4th liner scores a goal suddenly they're talking about how crucial he is to the team. And if someone makes a bad play once suddenly the whole team is sucking it up.

Injuries happen all the time. Let's all just enjoy the game and worry about Lidstrom later. If he is out for any time, we still have one of the best (if not the best) teams in the league that will fight out every little detail to win games. We'd still be the favorites, though it would make things considerably harder for the Wings.
-
I just hope we don't lose anyone valuable for a new defenseman. And let's not forget, this is Nick Lidstrom. The guy is vitrually indestructible. I don't think we should worry just yet.
-
Lidstrom is key, but his absence will make thsi team hungry. Let's not overreact. Raf and Kronwall will be back soon, and while there's no replacement for Lidstrom, we can do allright without him for a time. Let's not give up on the season just yet.
-
Filpulla! Looks like our "lack of offense" is fixing itself. I have a feeling that this slump was only a fluke and was team-wide, not any individual's fault.
-
I hope Lappy tries to go at another Wings player. I hope he doesn't hurt anyone, but I want him to keep asking for it and who knows, maybe we can renew this rivalry a little bit. Plus, I'd love to see him beat up a little more.
-
That definiately had McCarty-Lemieux resemblances, didn't it?
-
He always plays well, especially in crucial situations, which is why I don't understand when people try to belittle him just because he plays less minutes. Last playoff run shows he can play big minuutes and he actually performs better the more clutch the situation.
-
Wasn't it Chelios that was chewing out the team last game? Looks like he's leading by example. Not that he hasn't led by example before, but what a crucial time to score and possibly wake this team up!
