Most years the asking prices are too steep for the Wings to make a splash. This year they are so cheap I bet Holland assumed other teams were offering so much he psyched himself out.

damian brunner - how much is it gonna take to resign him?

He may accept a short term deal if he feels he has something to prove. He knows he's better than this, but can't make big bucks til he proves it. Holland will want long term, so maybe he can get a steal. 3 years, 3 million sounds right. We show confidence in him but don't give him a massive payday. -
Reading on Twitter that Wings and Blues still pushing for Bouwmeester, and no one has offered Buffalo anything good for Regehr. Not familiar with him, but Holland has a good relationship with Buffalo. If we lose on Bouwmeester, could be work out a deal with Buffalo you think? Another way to say it is: we aren't a Gaborik away from a Cup, but we won't get near a Cup without a Gaborik type.

Scraps, no. But Filppula isn't a scrap. He's a good centerman who is defensively responsible and has occasional flashes of brilliance. He could be packaged up to get a reliable vet (Gaborik) for a team who needs a defensive forward or needs to get stronger down the middle, and wants to get a little younger or cheaper. Filppula, White (or Quincey) and a pick could be attractive.

You are probably right. I've just always seen 3 year ELC's so I thought maybe it was required or something.

Injuries have done almost as much to derail the Wings the last three years as complacency has. Very frustrating.

with trade deadline approaching - who's our tradeable assets?
VM1138 replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Our most valuable is Filppula, but we could probably package up Quincey, White, Miller, or Eaves, too. -
Just realized something. DeKeyser was signed to a 2 year deal, but aren't Entry Level Contracts 3 years?
-
Yeah, but the only thing that makes sense is if he's upset and goes for drives to cool off. I guess I'm surprised he would write personally on Twitter, especially if upset. Well, I guess he is human after all.

Datsyuk's Twitter post is weird. One, O doubt he posts on it, and I doubt an agent would post something like that. Kind of random. Wings are at home tomorrow right?

Wings never get rebounds. Never win races to the puck. Never to to the net. Never carry the puck into the zone and keep it. Can't play defense. Can't play offense. Where to start fixing this? I wish I could say this is just a bad game, but we can't ignore patterns. Thus is only an extreme version of how they always play.

Tired of seeing the Wings carry the puck for a weak shot from bad angles. Go to the net.

I miss Zetterberg, too. But let's be real. We've seen this effort too many times this season even with him playing.
-
Seems like in a lot of these losses I never notice any forward other than the bottom two lines. It always seems like they're always on the ice and never Datsyuk and the like.
-
Sammy injured again?
-
DeKeyser isn't eligible to play today regardless. This team is so inconsistent. They don't just have bad games, they get humiliated.
-
Don't see why we need a depth forward, unless we are trading away a few of our already numerous crew to gain that top scorer.
-
I think a rental makes the most sense. It's going to be near impossible to land the perfect forward, so he will probably aim for a veteran scorer.
-
Sending him to GR eventually makes sense, but it makes a trade less likely, which was the opposite of what I was expecting.
-
Kip's right. Keep on topic.

I disagree. Keating has even more trouble speaking than Murphy did. It's sad, really. How was Keating the best candidate for all the jobs he holds?
-
Exactly, for all of our injuries, except for '10 and '11, they haven't been to crucial guys. Thus, them returning will only force less competent players down into their proper roles, not necessarily make us a scoring threat suddenly. But they will make us slightly stronger, so that's a plus.
-
Sad to hear, but they seem to be putting on a strong face. I've read some other articles where Mark and others are interviewed. They seem like a real genuinely close family.

Pang said about an hour ago that Blues sent MacInnis to make a strong pitch. Assuming he meant recently. Why is Dekeyser still taking pitches? I think we are nowhere near the end of this.
