Darren Pang is Steve Yzermans best friend, or at least Pang was Yzermans best man.... thats all i need to know to like Darren Pang.

I realize this but when Zetta, Dats, and Hossa are ALL struggling and cant get anything going, a switch has to be made. Filppula is a strong defensive forward, put him with Hossa and Franzen. With Zetta, and Dats and the last change we can put our two best defensive forwards against the perry/getzlaf/ryan line.

Additions LW Chris Kunitz LW Ruslan Fedotenko LW Matt Cooke RW Bill Guerin RW Craig Adams D Philippe Boucher Subtractions RW Marian Hossa LW Ryan Malone RW Gary Roberts LW Adam Hall LW Jarkko Ruutu D Ryan Whitney This might seem like an obvious worse, however the only reason I ask is that Crosby, Malkin, and Staal are probably better and more experienced than last year? What do you guys think?
-
I normally dont complain about a bias towards a certain team from national broadcasts but my god, get off Anaheim's balls already. PJ Stock, Ron MacLean, and Kelly Hrudy saw nothing wrong with Brown's hit and all thought Franzen should have gotten a penalty after his goal. I usually favor CBC over VS, but i might have to switch for this series.

I'm starting to think that i dont really want to play the ducks... these guys are as physical as all get out. :scared:

Who doesnt cheat on faceoffs? Cry me a river.
-
Does anyone have audio of his song from a few years back, Get Your Red on? I cant seem to find it anywhere.
-
Im very happy you're not the GM.
-
Hahahaha are you KIDDING me with this argument. Firstly, Granderson is not on that list because he is a caliber player like those guys, he is on the list because of his humility. He is a class act all the way and when its all said and done, he will probably be a Tiger for life. |Secondly, ye we've had players like Sheed and Rodman, but what exactly is your point lol? We've had players like them, but is it a good thing? Most Pistons fans say we should outright release Rasheed because of how much of a cancer he has become. And Rodman? Are you kidding?.. Thirdly, dont list Shanny with them. Shanny was a class act just like Yzerman, Lidstrom was.

I did not know that about Alex, and i thank you for sharing. That is truly interesting. However.... Alex does no simply kiss his glove and point to the sky. He skates around the rink like a friggin circus act. I know this is a debate between Ovechkin-Crosby, but i would like to admit that i do not like either. Crobsy is a cry baby - pusy bich and Ovechkin acts like he gods gift to hockey. Just go about your business. Im just surprised that a Detroits sports forum would defend a guy like Ovechkin when we are so used to players like Yzerman, Lidstrom, Zetterberg Datsyuk and even Sanders, Dumars, Granderson....etc
-
Just listened to Cherry's comments and I will say, I completely agree. I will say, im VERY disappointed most of you are bashing Cherry. Ovechkins celebrations are overboard. I cant believe the same fans that love Stevie Y for his humility, and the same fans that love Joe Dumars, the same fans that love Barry Sanders for handing the ball to the ref after scoring a TD are on board with Ovechkins ME first goal celebrations, and are not defending Don Cherry for his SPOT ON comments. I cant believe im reading these comments on a Detroit Sports forum. Wow.
-
I will say that i did not hear Cherry's comments however, when it comes to Ovechkins goal celebrations i have to agree with those that think he goes overboard. You are the best goal scorer in the league, act like you've done i before. I find his celebrations extremely pompous and annoying. Being that this is a Detroit forums with fans of athletes as humble as Yzerman, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Im surprised more of you don't agree.

QUOTE (NumbaSixty-Six @ February 23, 2009 - 06:55PM) * I didn't know you were on the roster. Ok Mr. Politically correct. Shoot on over to the Pens board and see how many "we need to fire Therrian" and "we need Sid to step up" and "we need to trade Jordan Stall/Whitney" threads there are. +1 NumbaSixty-Six, This world would be a better place without people like you.

I know this is a Red Wings forum, but im sure most of you are fans of the other 3 teams in Detroit. What are your top 5 sports moments of all time. Here are mine in no particular order. http://www.youtube.com /watch?v=jDgg0iWFUpU...feature=related://http://www.youtube.com /watch?v=jDg...feature=related Magglio Ordonez 2006 ALCS walk off... cant find clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9QTduwA49k

it was definitely the case

I agree with what you're saying, but whats your point? Going into free agency he will indeed have a good resume, and probably will have many suitors, but i agree with henrik40. He is a system player and probably wont be as productive without talent around him.
-
hahaha he's never played anywhere else.
-
Even with everyone healthy, these two belong. Forward lines should be Hank-Dats-Homer Franzen-Hudler-Hossa Samuelsson-Filppula-Leino Helm-Draper-Cleary
-
Agreed, everything is still a little fuzzy. According to redwingscentral we are 9.45 under the cap for next year. Assuming we sign Hossa for 6, bring up Ericsson for .9, we would have about 2.5 mil in cap room with 8 forwards, 8 defensemen and 1 goalie under contract. I believe you are supposed to have 23 players signed. You might be able to get away with having 22, I'm not sure? However, having to sign six more players for 2.5 million, with Franzen, Hudler, Samuelsson, Leino, Conklin due for pay increases, the wings will probably have to do some maneuvering. I dont see how it's possible to keep Franzen if we sign Hossa unless he takes a HUGE hometown discount. Sending Hudler, and Leino to arbitration will make sense if we cant sign them for cheap. That way we get them for another year and we can re-negotiate when Lidstroms contract comes off the books. It's going to be interesting to see how everything plays out, and im definitely glad I dont have to make the decisions. However, I will say that I hope we dont waste time negotiating a contract for Sammy. Hudler and Leino are better and younger.
-
No Flip? He's starting to come on as of late. I think 10 points in his last 13 games.
-
well then....

In my opinion, id rather have Hossa than Rafalski. Deal Rafalski for next to nothing just to dump his salary. Keep Hossa, Franzen, Huddles. Offense: Zetterberg (6) - Datsyuk (6.7) - Holmstrom (2.25) Franzen (4) - Filppula (3) - Hossa (6) Cleary (2.8) - Hudler (1.5) - Leino (.9) Helm (.6) - Draper (1.583) - Maltby (.883) Abdelkader (.74) Defense: Lidstrom (7.45) - Ericcson (.9) Stuart (3.75) - Kronwall (3) Lebda (.650) - Lilja (1.25) Meech (.483) Goalie: Osgood (1.417) Howard (.717) TOTAL : 56.573

This is a hell of a post. Dam.

We are almost at the midpoint of the regular season, and we are currently 3rd place overall and in my opinion, we really havent even scratched the surface of how well we can play. I have been as critical as anybody about the Wings in the past so i would like to think i am unbiased. Moreover, can any other team even come close to beating this team in a 7 game series? With past threats Anaheim, Dallas, and Pittsburgh looking to be shadows of their former selves, I don't think so. The rest of the NHL looks as if it's in transition mode. The Red Wings are just coasting through the regular season, however when a big game comes along that tests their ability, they show their true colors as the NHLs team to beat. Chicago is an up and comer, and I dont doubt that theyll be a serious threat in the years to come, but not this year. With the division on the line, the Wings simply dominated and it wont be any different if we are to meet them in the playoffs. San Jose has a history of disappearing in the playoffs and I dont doubt it will happen again. In the east, besides Boston, no team really jumps out at me. Will the wings coast their way to a back to back Stanley Cup? Wings players such as Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Hossa, even though they are playing well, seem bored. All of them have a history of being big game players. In my opinion the Wings are still the team to beat, and are men agongst boys this season.
-
I just think the wings are coasting right now. They've all been there, I can see how the regular season would bore these guys. San Jose, Vancouver, and Chicago really arent battle tested, and I think the Wings would take them down in a seven game series. When the big games come Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Hossa are just different players. We saw a little bit of this in the winter classic.
