That would be great. Something about those lower seeded teams scare me though. I dont like the Wings in a trap game. Id almost rather play SJ or Chicago.
-
Im pretty sure a few years back the 5,6,7 and 8 seeds all won. I cant remember if it was in the east or west though.
-
I've litteraly been hearing this since right after we went back to back in 97/98. It's whatever. We still have Z/D/Franzen/Flip in their primes and have plenty of time to rebuild on the fly, just as we did with this team.

I guess I just dont understand why people are so relectuant to break up Drapes/Helm/Eaves in spite of our third line??? Helm and Eaves can be third line guys next season, pair them with cleary and move Miller and Abdelkader back to the forth line with Draper and im happy.

Does this year prove that hockey doesnt belong in phoenix?

That was Sean Casey, im 95% sure. -
that team was loooooooooooooooooooadded.

Im pretty sure it was conflict with Bowman. Same goes for Paul Coffey. (also, we wanted to get tougher so we traded him for Shanny.)

Filppula following similar path to Datsyuk...?
wingsownnhl43 replied to Aussie_Wing's topic in General
I have no problem with this argument. I dont think there are many people that would argue that Filppula is a better offensive player than Hudler. That is why Hudler is so much more succesful on the powerplay. I think FIlppula has a 65-70 point potential, and Hudler is about 70-75, so it isnt drastic. I really think Hudler is a powerplay specialist and a great assett on the top powerplay unit. With that being said, I dont think theres a GM in the league that would take Hulder over Flip in 5on5 play. -

Agreed. That post was utterly ridiculous. Flip could get 40 points in 55 games. 45 point player peak -
Filppula following similar path to Datsyuk...?

For all those that refer to Hulder putting up 57 points and argue that he would be a ppg player playing top line minutes, I really think you can get into trouble using that logic. It is very rare for extrapalations to translate into actual sucess. The people that argue this need to realize that Hudler did in fact get top line powerplay time last season, and are including his power play minutes when extrapalating his minutes played. In all actuality, if Hudler were to be on a top line, his power play minutes would not increase. This is the fail in that "Hudler would be a PPG player with 18-20 min agame logic, because he had only 29 points of his 57 in 5on5 play. Half of his points were power play points. -
Filppula following similar path to Datsyuk...?
wingsownnhl43 replied to Aussie_Wing's topic in General
I doubt he will ever be as good as Datsyuk, but the kid still hasnt reached his ceiling. He has the tools to be a great player, so you never know how good someone can be when they have confidence. (Ex. Franzen) No one expected him to be a 40 goal caliber player. Theres no doubt in my mind that he can be a 70 pt guy in this league. Combine that with his skills as a defensive forward and I think the Filppula VS Hudler debate needs to come to an abrupt halt. -
And to be completely honest if I were to rank the teams I dont want to face in the playoffs (west) this year, it be... 1. Anaheim (Not even kidding) 2. Vancouver 3. Chicago 4. San Jose.
-
Honestly, I dont want the six seed. Vancouver scares me the most. That being said, I have a hard time believing we dont make up two points in the last nine games, (albeit La has a game in hand on us) and we jump to the 5 seed. I just dont see San Jose making a long run, I think Chicagos goaltending will catch up to them in the playoffs, and as for Phoenix, its very unusual for a young team to make a long run. They will have to take their lumps before they can be considered a legitimate threat in my book. As far as I see it, the Wings have as good of a shot as anyone to come out of the west, Vancouver being the strongest opponent, which is why I dont want to see them first.
-
Im pretty sure Gretzky did something like that.
-
Val is now a plus player on the season and on a 60.6 points, 82 game pace. We definitely have a top 6 forwad on our hands.
-
2 points out of the 5 seed!!!!
-
Fine with me... With a Wings win and a Kings loss, we are 2 points out of 5th. At this rate, would anyone bet against us from getting a five seed???? I wouldnt
-
He's been on quite a roll. I really do think Flip has great potential, hopefuly he keeps it up.
-
What a great change from last season. Could be key in the playoffs.
-
Interesting to point out, and I dont think a lot of people realize this, but.... Todd Bertuzzi now has 42 points with us and the season isnt over yet, with a 16:43 average time on ice Mikael Samuelsson had 40 points in each of his last two seasons with us averaging 16:16 and 15:22 on ice I think Bert has stepped in and replaced Sammy very well.
-
I dont mean to gloat, but ive been asking for this Flip/Z/Bert line for like 20 games. Nonetheless, good to see them all goin!!

Sidney Crosby = -2 Yet another minus game against the Red Wings for the "Best player in the world"
