Ultimately, he's good enough to be one half of a top defensive pairing. but he'll need equal or close-to-equal help from his top-line partner, unlike Lids who can elevate anyone he's paired with. We've been spoiled by having the best D-man since Orr, and that's simply not replaceable, but that doesn't mean Krons can't do a good job.

Gotta admit, I'd rather have Homer miss the games than Franzen. It'd give Homer time to heal, and he's already got a gold anyways.

Nabby played well no doubt, but there really weren't to many saves you can look at and say were blatant steals. It simply doesn't matter what the Wings do... their offense is pure garbage. They've consistently made most every goalie they've faced look Vezina worthy... and unless some guys regain their focus over the Olympic break, and maybe a few lines actually develop something resembling chemistry, I don't see our goal scoring troubles subsiding any time soon.

I will say I was glad to see Zetterberg off the SO, and bert had a few beauties earlier in the season. But I gotta think Flip has the moves for shootouts, and Franzen would have been a good choice.

No he didn't. Second one was a miss... howard had been fooled out of net, just had a stick protecting the empty on that one.

Howard is just awful in shootouts. Our whole damn team is.

That's about as clear as possible... but I was still half expecting an intent to blow... even though the play kept going for 20 seconds.

That was a hell of a beauty. This team sure makes it look hard to score... but at least they did.

Hossa was one off Crosby's team lead in 08... Heatley was amazing for Ottowa in 07 (tied team lead)... Tampa would not have won a cup without Modin or St. Louis (the center Vinny was virtually nonexistent).... Where would Calgary get in the playoffs without Iginla?.... etc etc

Wrong x2. For starters he's gone out and overly criticized Ovechkin and Malkin on multiple occasions for their physical style of play, while defending Pronger, Richards, Phaneuf, and other Canadian born players... at the very most if a Canadian does something indefensible he'll go on record as "well, he's a nice guy, but he made a mental mistake"... like he did when Laraque knee to kneed Kronwall... Secondly... of course Cherry isn't going to go on TV and start saying "all Euros are soft and just want money." But he subtly implies it with the players he chooses to defend and criticize. He'll even find secondary ways of implying it, like I said before, when he came out and publicly stated people who wear visors don't respect other players because they don't fear repercussions (and he said that's why most Euros and "Frenchies" wear visors).... turns out when a study was done that visor wearers are actually less likely to high stick opponents. Again, a very big disconnect from the truth.
