    Kovalchuk traded to New Jersey

Everything I've read from his agent says he want's a 10-12 yr deal that pays him the max, like 11.3 per. He has no interest in a front loaded contract. Any GM team that gives up young players to sign him to that deal should be fired. That's morgaging your future and screwing your cap.

2/3 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Ducks 3

What a crock of s***! now you can bat pucks into the net against the Wings apparently.

    Kovalchuk traded to New Jersey

Seems like a greedy *****. Good player, but more than Ovechkin and Crosby, Malkin, Lidstrom? I hate sports agents, wish I had one

    Hitchcock fired

Well done sir, and I don't mean my steak

    Jimmy Howard watch thread

He was excellent in the 3rd when he was being run and jammed into the net. His big frame helped keep from getting shoved into the goal.

    Kronwall "tweaks" knee

It looked like it tweaked when his skate blade broke right off. The guy seriously has no luck.

Hopefully they still have something left for the game tomorrow.

It's nice to have a big goalie when teams try to shove everyone and everything at the net like that. Nice win guys.

I'm guessing Lidstrom off Homers ass!

That guy wearing the #40 jersey looks dangerous out there. Someone sign him up.

Had to laugh at Krownwall. If it wasn't for bad luck he wouldn't have any.

    Hank with the clanker!
  13. Some of you need to go back and watch the 08 playoffs again, I have a couple more times through. Your remembering things that never happened. Franzen would have won the Con Smythe by a landslide if he didn't get injured. Osgood in most of those games especially the first two home games of each of those series literally, just had to stand in goal like a cardboard cutout. The play was in the other teams end the entire game. He was having to stop a combined 10 shots per 2 periods of play. Go watch it again. He also let in some weak goals, but nobody remembers them because we were scoring 4 and 5 goals a game. Colorado and Dallas were beat up, tired and injured. The only tough teams he face was the Ducks and Pens both years, and he struggled to seal the deal against them. He was good, bot not anything special when you consider the shots he had to stop. He made some nice saves and had some nice games, but he also let in some soft goals IMO. I know people will remember him as some kind of hero despite what common sense will show. He went as far the past two years as the team would take him, just like he has his whole career. This is the first time he's been here when we're not a powerhouse in the league and the only place he can lead is to a chance to get Taylor Hall. Carry on.

    The "Is Rafalski Overpaid" Poll

Haha I made a joke in the "Is Filppula overpaid thread" that someone should make a poll for Rafailski. Nice work or maybe just coincidence? Seriously thought who voted that he wasn't grossly overpaid? I think he gets bonus dollars paid for icings and turnovers. Plus he also gets commissions for blow coverage. Awful contract.
  15. Somebody put one up for Rafailski
  16. LOL Osgood is one of the worst shootout goalies in the league, but even if you disagree I'll let you in on a little secret. The game would have been over in the first period if he was playing in that game. You get 4 out of 5 starts though for stirring the pot though.
  17. I wish that were true, because this thread would only be 1 page long instead of 7. I wish mods would just lock these threads when the discussions lead nowhere but circles. Early on these topics had some merit but they've been irrelevant for months.
  18. Chris get's it, now how about the rest of you jump on board the 2010 train. "I've played a ton of games, and sure, I still want to play," Osgood said Saturday, before the Wings departed for Pittsburgh. "But I owe it to Howie and the team. It's kind of like the past reclaims itself. We've not totally switched roles, but I had guys -- Mike Vernon, Tim Cheveldae, Vincent Riendeau -- who helped me. There's no way I could've been here by myself, without the older guys' help. It'd be selfish of me to act any other way." -- Chris Osgood
  19. You act like a goalie gets a lifetime position if he has a cup. It doesn't happen that way. All he gets is an opportunity to defend his #1 position the following year. The Red wings brass have been ultra patient with Osgood. If he was on any other team last year he would have been out of the league. The Wings gave him time off to figure out what was going on. He played better and had a good run. Look at Anaheim with Giguere. He had won a cup and Con Smythe. He also lost his job to a goalie that was playing better. They gave him plenty of time to get his game back, until they decided it wasn't going to happen. It works the same around the league, no matter who you are. Osgood hasn't shown anything in the games he's been giving to suggest that he can play better than Howard is, nothing. Not in GAA., not in Save %, not in Wins, nothing. Hell, you don't need any stats or special scouting ability to see that. That's not bashing of Osgood, that's just the reality of calling it like it is. Every Red Wing fan in the world is hoping Osgood can play better. As for him not getting the respect he deserves, well it's his play over his career that made people form their opinion of him. He's been maddeningly inconsistent over his career, and the past couple of seasons have been no different. Regardless of what he's done in the past, he's not yet been able to help us this season. If we were resting on our laurels, Hasek would still be in net. Say hello to 2010.
  20. Even if Osgood were to get a few more starts that you guys want. The only thing it's going to show is that Howard needs to play even more. That's the reality of the situation. We can't sore 4 goals per game for him, hell we can't even score 3 most of the time. Being a good team mate and helping Howard along is the only way he'll be able to stay a Red Wing. From reading his last interview, he seems to understand this. Maybe you should do the same.

At this point I think he is. He's already played more games than half his damn teammates with all our injuries. Kronwall going for that meaningless hit really pisses me off.

Why do we bother to take the ice in the shootout at all? At least we got one point.
