That was a weak ass penalty to put us down 2 men. They could call that s*** 10 times per game. Why they chose to call it there is anybody's guess.

I think he's one of the most polarizing players to ever play in Detroit. Some want him enshrined, some want him drawn and quartered. I try to remind myself that his salary is smaller than most starters, so he provides value. I think we all just want to ice the best team possible regardless of the name on the back.
-
I get what your saying Harold. Maybe I shouldn't have wrote it that way. I have no idea what Chris is thinking, wanting, etc. It's a select group of fans that like to play the underappreciated hero card on message boards and forums. It's them that I take exception with I guess. I believe Chris gives his best every time he steps on the ice and loves being a Red Wing. Unfortunately sometimes even that isn't enough.

Osgood should start getting more starts about the time we start getting healthy bodies back in the lineup. He'll get better goal support at that point and he will appear to be playing better. He'll we might even squeak into the playoffs and he can play the underappreciated hero card he seems to love so much. As I'm reading this thread it's amazing that people needs stats or anything other than their eyeballs to see that Howard has been much better this year. As the team got weaker and more injured the rookie goalie got better and better and Osgood faded into the background. It's also above ridiculous that people thinks it's a motivation problem. HELLO.... we need every point possible or were finished. If that's not motivation than someone should check your pulse. If Chris was capable of flipping a switch he'd be smashing the piss out of it. However it is funny to sit back and watch the list of lame excuses and crazy la la land stats come out.

He seems to contradict himself. He talks about doing what's best for the team on one hand, then basically says he feels he should be playing on the other. If he really wants what's best for the team....well the current situation is what's best for the team. He had the job at the start of the season and played very inconsistently IMO. Howard got the opportunity and played much better. His game started to come around. Howard is just stopping more pucks period. Right now without any offense, giving up a weak goal will most likely cost us the game. Chris mentioned he thought he gave up a weak goal in the 3rd period. Maybe that's the real problem here because I thought all 3 were pretty weak. Even in the games where his save % was above .900 he still gave up some very marginal goals. Howard has given up some softies as well, but his are mostly because of positional miscues. There aren't many goals going through Howards, that's the key. That's a good indicator of how a goalie is playing. When you start gettig these soft goals through the body, under the arms, between the legs, that's the sign of bad goaltending IMO.

I was one of the few people supporting him he when the season started. I said at the time that he'd easily put up numbers better than Osgood. People acted silly like that was impossible. All the guy needed was some time to get comfortable. He's still learning and getting more adjusted to the pro game. He's still going to get better IMO.

The Value of an Enforcer: Brad May/ The Misunderstood Point Sytem
Pucks replied to a topic in General
Brad May for MVP?.......Really?....... If being old, having your career on life support, getting punched is your face is MVP worthy, then yeah he's da man. Seriously man come on now. The sad part is your serious, and for that I have no response. Your thought process = fail. -
It's so crazy to see him struggle like this. I remember a game a while back when he had rang two off the post. Both on the PP I believe. I thought his offense might start coming around at that point, but it hasn't.

You could tell last night as the game progressed, that one of the goalies was going to end up disappointed. Too bad it was Jimmy. I't the 2nd time in the last 10 games that's he allowed only 1 goal but still lost. He's only given up 1 PP GA in his last 12. He's also in top 11 in both save % and GGA. He's really playing well. I can't believe were getting shutout this much. Maybe they need to work on some other things to do in the offensive zone, because this just isn't working. That first unit of Dats, Bert, Homer, Lids, Rafi should be scoring at even strength and with the man advantage.

Shame, Howard was great tonight.
-
That guy lost his passion for the game after his first nice contract. He and everyone else have been looking for his game ever since. Can't see anyone picking him up, not even us with our injuries.
-
Well done sir. I applaud you.

I posted earlier that Babcock and Holland don't seem to be on the same page a lot. Maybe Holland should say, "Hey Mike? If I send (some guy) up there, how will you use him?" Or Babcock can say, "Hey Kenny can I have ( some player) to slot in at this position." If the intention was to swap out 4th liners, it seems really pointless anyway.
-
If the KHL keeps offering up 5 million dollar contracts he'll be staying. If not he'll be on the next flight back to collect his 3 million per.
-
They'd never be able to complete a pass. They'd be 5 hole'n each other. Wait that sounds all kind of dirty

Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda Lebda starting Lebda Backup Pure 0wnage! ............for the OTHER team! what would our GAA be?
-
I LOL'd also. I think he forgot the sarcasm smiley thingy.
-
Exactly. why isn't this guy on the list. He's got the most ridiculous contract on our roster. I wish he didn't have a no trade so we could trade him for a top 6 winger. No one would notice he was missing. I voted Osgood obviously. He was awful last night as expected, but even I don't expect him to win games with the goose egg on the board. Also voted Leino. He just cannot skate. I didn't think he could replace Hudler, but I at least thought he'd be a threat to score out there. He couldn't score on an empty net right now. At least Drapes can do that I couldn't bring myself to vote Lidstrom. He's aging people. The offense is the first thing to go. The same thing happened to chelios. Datsyuk couldn't vote him either. I wish he'd score more, but it's really against his nature. He seems to be turning the corner but probably still not going to score a lot of goals.

I agree those are facts......In la la land

C'mon harold, even the people over at the Hawks forum are laughing at the goals. A hatrick of softies is what they're calling them. Take off red goggles for a minute man. Doc I applaud your persistence..lol.
-
There's a reason he's been on the shelf for the past month people.

3 softies tonight ....lmfao

I guess maybe I'm the only one, but from a homer perspective I would have rather seen May trying to beat up Ohlund instead of that pointless fight with Barch. I know the hit was clean and it's breaking the code or whatever but there it is. I know he would have gotten the instigator penalty and it might have cost us the game. However that hit on Zetterberg will cost us a lot more than one game in the long run.
-
That's the point I was making though. If we didn't have May there would have been a hundred page thread about needing some more goons to prevent injuries like Zetterberg. Same with the Kronwall injury etc. People would be trying to tie them together somehow. I'm not saying you would, but it would definitely be happening. I'm just glad we have May so we don't have to read about them.
