He looked slow last year. That was my concern. In the new NHL a huge part of the game is speed based. You don't have to be blindingly fast but you have to be fast enough. There are very few players that can be effective in the new NHL that don't have any speed. A couple that come to mind are Holmstrom and Hudler. I'm sure every team has a guy or two. His skating seems to have regressed. Even when he manages to get some open ice, he gets closed off very quickly. He doesn't have the playmaking ability of Hudler that's for sure. I thought he'd be able to generate some offense on the PP with the extra space, but that just hasn't happened.Hopefully when we get some bodies back he can be effective on the 3rd or 4th line. However there's a real possibility that he'll be in the press box. Some night's when you watch him play you think he might not score ever again. I think he'd be better served to stop trying to carry the puck and worry more about getting to open areas to shoot the puck.

Remember all the meat heads around here that used to post about needing a fighter goon to act as a deterrent? Well we've got May punching other meatbags but we've still got more injuries than I've ever seen in my life. My point is, having a fighter doesn't protect players from getting hurt. It never has. It keeps them from having to fight though. For the rocord I don't mind having May on the team, because he can take a shift and throw some checks, cycle the puck etc. Hell he even scored a goal that the retards said didn't count. Can you imagine If we didn't have May? Every thread on the board would be about how all these injuries are the result of not having a meatbag.

Helm was really good. Too bad he couldn't get one ,he deserved it. Datsyuk looked like himself today and that's a real good sign. Bertuzzi is starting to get some confidence. He would have passed that shot in the slot a week ago.

I was thinking he's played much better in his own end since coming back from injury. He obviously has a lot of work left. It was a frustrating moment for sure. He's the scariest person on the team with the puck on his stick.

He was out of position on a couple of goals no doubt. Whoever said soft goals has no idea what their talking about. A soft goal is when a weak wrist shot blow's through your 5 hole, or when your getting beat through your body. He's not going to be perfect. He's still learning his trade. He's a "ROOKIE" "ROOKIE" "ROOKIE" It will be interesting tomorrow to see if Osgood will be the "Savior" or be the "victim" of "poor defense" and "bad breaks"....... Howard did not have his best game. He got some bad breaks around the net. As an Osgood slappy, you should be all to familiar with those.

Based on all the stupid logic around here when people say Osgood always ramps up his game when it matters most. Right? He's a money goalie right? Can't get up unless its a great challenge right? Playing against the best teams in the league surely would bless us with his majesty's services, right? Let me ask you a question since you seem confused. Who can earn the team more points? Osgood starting against Chicago? or Howard starting against the worst 5 teams in the league?

Babcock keeps playing Osgood against teams like this to try to wake him the hell up. He's hoping he'll feel like playing or stop boozing or whatever the hell his deal is again this year. This easy teams vs hard team things cracks me up. All the games count for 2 points. Howard is giving us the best chance to get 2 points. That's why he's playing the majority of games. Not because they're easy teams...LMFAO. Some of you are Osgood apologists to the bitter end. Classic.

Stuart is one of the quietest guys in the NHL. I think he prefers to be in the background. His game is loud on the ice though. He's been a beast this year. One of the few bright spots along with Howard.

For me personally I keep thinking the guy will be traded any moment but it never happens. I guees I just don't see the point in having a tiny little defensemen on the 3rd pair. I mean, is he the second coming of Coffey or Rafalski? Of course not. He doesn't move the puck any better than anyone else. His positioning isn't good either. WTF is his value there? His speed? It's about as effective as Boyd Deveraux speed was. Remember that dude? Me either. The only value I see is his price tag. He's cheap. Ok then. How about we trade him for a cheap stay at home Defensemen. To me, the 3rd pair guys should go out there and play safe tight physical hockey. Their objective being to not get scored upon and to buy time for the top guys with talent. Remember Rouse and McCoun? Now those are 3rd pair guys. Before anyone mentions guys fitting not our style of play, please don't. Any giant meat head can make a pass up the boards or to a skater leaving the zone.
