Can't believe anyone would waste their cap space on him.
-
What a ridiculous thread. Kirk Maltby has 4 rings, so obviously Chris Osgood is riding his coattails
-
Prospal down to 2 teams Detroit and Washington apparently. http://www.hockeyleaks.com/index.php?page=rumors

Chelios is beyond finished. If Sather throws a 3 year contract at him he should be fired. It wouldn't surprise me though because he's one of the worst GM's in the league.
-
The hall should be more than just numbers. It should be about the best players of their generation for their position. Osgood will end up with impressive numbers, but I would never place him in the top 5 goalies in any year he played. He's is overrated by wings fans and underrated by most else. The truth is he falls comfortably in the middle. A solid role playing guy that loved being a wing, but most definitely NOT a hall of flame player.

This is nonsense. I can't believe this guy doesn't know when to quit already. If Roenick was really his good friend he would be telling him the hard truth that only a friend can. It's time. IMO the wings gave him 2 contracts he had no business getting. You had a great career, now have fun golfing. You think he'd want to be remembered as a first pairing norris trophy defensemen and not some 8th D scrub.

Osgood had a a .887 save percentage and still managed to win 26 games and lose 17. I believe that was second worst in the league. I think it's fair to believe that Howard could manage a similar save percentage at least for next season. 20-25 wins seems probable for Jimmy IMO. Obviously were not going to have the same goal support as last season, but the player in the net isn't going to be the determining factor in our record. It seems we could tie up one of my old hockey jerseys across the pipes and get into the post season.

In a word "Sillyness".

Interesting article about the cost of recent years trades by wings
Pucks replied to a topic in General
Never a fan of Schneider, Lazy or Bertoothie so I'd have to agree those trades were poor. -
It seems like a contest this year to see who can sign the most players between Montreal and Chicago. Then next season It will be a contest to see who can trade the most.
-
Oh well at least the second unit power play will improve.
-
He's one of those guys that's so valuable during the regular season on the power play. He helps you get that great seed for the playoffs. Then once the post season roles around he fades into the background. The only time you notice he's playing is when there's a power play or when the other team has a defensive breakdown, and he get's a two on one with someone where he has space and time. Otherwise he's just so easy to contain for big defensmen. They just angle him and bump him off the puck. He either needs to be fast or bigger unfortunately he's not.
-
Hudler only plays 13 minutes per game because he hasn't been that effective in a top six role thus far. He does most of his damage on the power play where he has more room to operate. His great vision and passing comes out with all that room. If Hudler could skate a lot better I have no doubt he would be a star in this league. Even at his size. But he can't and IMO never will. He's always trailing the play when he plays up in the top six role. On this team or another he will always be a 3rd line powerplay specialist IMO. Nothing wrong with that, but how much is it worth?
-
Or instead of all the numbers we could just maybe.. watch them play. Becasue if you did, I think it would be easy to see which is better.
-
Yeah but I was hoping to have the combined hitting of Helm & Kopecky & someone else. Finding a better hitter would be nice also. Kopecky sure did look like a retard out there sometimes but he had lots of hits. Just look up some youtube videos for the wings. He's in a lot of them, more than I remembered.
-
Agreed both these guys are useful players. Maybe they want more than 1 million per though.
-
Not going to cry, but he was our top hitter before being injured the last 2 seasons. Now he's going to be throwing his reckless body into the wings 6 games plus playoffs per season. Don't get me wrong I think he's overpaid but not by much and it's only for 2 years.
-
"What was Chicago thinking?" They were thinking they'd sign a stud forward to a 5.2 cap hit. A no brainer. They will move out lesser players over the next years for more assets.
-
We would have received compensation if they had signed him. http://hockey-bums.com/archives/617
-
I don't believe he's signed anywhere yet. But I think I read he had already received better offers than the wings could match.
-
Oh come on now. Every team in the league would take Hossa at his 5.2 cap hit if they had the space. The sedins just got a cap hit of 6.1. Gionta has almost the same cap hit as Hossa. He's a great deal at that price for sure.
-
We have absolutely NO need for another center.
-
Don't blame Hossa for taking this deal. If Holland would have upped his offer a little bit more Hossa would be a wing, simple as that. 5.2 pr for Hossa is an awesome deal. Anyone who's thinks otherwise is a retard with a single digit IQ. I had no problem with him going to some fringe team for 7 million pr year but to go to chicage for 5.2. I think we Fooked this all up. Probably should have signed Kopecky too by the looks of it.

Yikes! if you want a talking head we might as well get Brett Hull back at least he can shoot the puck in the net.
