Not going to work. Fil and Z Haven't really work well together in the past IMO. Helm still stuck on the 4th line? He's far better than that. He could really win some puck battles in the corners and create chances if he got moved up. Babcock seems to think he's Maltby?

They made terrible decisions in their own end in the first, but it didn't cost them. They then made those same type plays in the 3rd and it cost them. This team starts trying to play hold on defense when they get the lead. The problem is that's not how this team is built. This team plays defense by carrying the play in the offensive end. When they stop moving forward they get in real trouble. Babcock has told them not to do that but it happens anyway. They would have given the Chicago game away also if there was another 5 minutes left in the game.

My post from another board: Any one else wondering what Helm could do as a support guy on a scoring line? It appears he could have 5 goals in a game and Babcock wouldn't reward the guy. I've seen every player on this roster get a shot moving up besides Helm. He's almost too good at checking for his own good. His speed an work ethic could be a massive help to Z right now. Who gives a s*** who centers the 4th line.

That second line smells like someone took the Browns to the super bowl. Z looks to be overpaid by a large margin.

This team is awful with a lead. 3, 2, 1 goal leads? They can blow em all with style. They can't sustain any consistent effort at all.

The thing that jumps out at you the most about this poll is Zetterberg and rafalski have massive salaries and nary a single vote.

He does chart a mean faceoff

I thought maybe we might try to pickup a cheap insurance policy at the deadline like Roloson, but it didn't happen. So you got to go with the only option we have, and that's Howard. He hasn't been playing as well as he was before the break but he's still a far better option that the human 5 hole highlight film.

Finally finished watching the game, had to DVR it. I'm still waiting for the world to end. I can't believe we got a goal called back in our favor What an awful call it was to, but were owed many, many more. Glad to see the guys finishing some of their chances, Fil actually scored going to the net. Datsyuk was great. Z made some nice plays as well. Bert had a good game before he folded up. I still hate the way this team plays with a lead, it makes no sense. Our team is not set up to play prevent defense, I wish they'd stop trying. I'm glad there wasn't 5 more minutes left in that one. Jimmy has not been as strong since we've returned from the break. Without him we have no goaltending, so if anyone reading this is the religious sort? Please pray for Jimmy and the Wings I can't believe the Hawks didn't take a flier on Roloson? They can't be serious about putting Huet in goal for a meaningful game can they? I guess they're going with the rook? I guess we're in the same situation if Howard gets injured or starts feeling the pressure.

The guy had a hot streak where he scored a bunch of weak ass goals, Like from behind the net and from the side boards. Suddenly everyone thinks OMG it's the old Bert. His problem is he tries to played a skilled game when he should be playing a power game. His hands are nice for big man, but his brain is not in sync. Just look at that brutal attempt at a breakaway last night. Really? just top shelf the damn puck. If Holland gives the guy more money next year it will all be over payment. The wings are seeing what every other team has seen, inconsistency, frustration. At 1.5, he's earning his money though.

Glad that garbage is over.

I love how Osgood let's in a terrible goal and Mickey starts trying to find something it hits...Lmao. Not that it matters because this s***s over.
-
Got a healthy lineup but same old lackadaisical plays. Not much attention to detail tonight so far.
-
Wings letting Vancouver get too much speed coming through the neutral zone, they need to get that fixed up for the second period.
-
This^ by a landslide. The NBC girls just over-analyse everything to the point I have to mute the broadcast. Way too much and far too much Man gushing.

Here I stand in shocking disbelief I do feel bad for their fans though.

GDT 2010 Olympic Gold Medal Game: Canada 3 vs. USA 2 (OT)

Well at least the NHL will have a new clip of Cindy to play every 5 seconds for the rest of the season. -

Cindy scores. Epic fail. Now I can't browse the internet for like a week. -
Three of Four Officials for USA/Canada Game From Canada
Pucks replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Just don't understand it? Why the hell would you root for the Wings? I could understand if you lived in the USA before moving to canada or something like that. But for someone so proud of your country ,that fact that you root for an American owned, run team seems really odd. Maybe it makes sense somehow eh? If I didn't root for the Wings I can sure as hell say I'd never root for a foreign team, even if all mine sucked. -

Don't understand some of the people from canada on here that root for the Red Wings? Why not root for one of your own teams like the Laffs? Oh probably because you want to actually see you team skate around with the cup. -

That's terrible there shouldn't be any refs from either participating country at all. This has disaster written all over it. -
When people say the speed of the game, that's not just foot speed, it's decision making also. You don't need any stats to tell you Chelios career in the NHL is over. Anyone who watched him play over the past two seasons could see him having trouble with this. The only reason he wasn't embarrassed out there was because of his vast experience. For the most part he had to play a perfect positional game to be effective. Stats are the worst thing to happen to sports, unless you an athlete or an agent. It gives people that don't understand the game a leg to stand on. If all sports teams had to do was look at stats, then why would they pay millions of dollars to their pro scouts? Because stats don't mean a damn thing when your trying to evaluate a athlete.

NHL is too fast for Chris now. If you slow the game down he can still be an effective depth guy in the AHL.

That's a real nice cap hit for Pecker.
