"Ouch. You are clearly the prototypical Detroit Red Wings fan superman extraordinaire. Will you teach us what you know about being the perfect Wings fan, or are we just not genetically pure enough?" thank you for proving my point. ""Ouch. I love how loosely the term "stereotyping" is thrown around here. I am a devout liberal and the overuse "stereotyping" accusaions is even making me sick.

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

"My personal belief? No, I don't think it's a big deal that no one 'stood up' for Brett Lebda or Jason Williams. Would I have more of a problem if it happened to Datsyuk or Zetterberg and nothing happened? Maybe, I guess, but I've never been of the belief that reactionary stuff does anything. You seem to think it matters more. " Wow, this explains a lot. Quick question, did you ever play organized hockey? And if so what leagues and teams?
  6. hahaha remember this tool, the backup for calgary that whacken franzen. well looks like no one wante to obtain his "sweet" goaltending skills so he signed in Russia. http://beanballinc.blogspot.com/2007/07/fl...-metallurg.html

Ten to Zero ( the grit/toughness debate)

Holy s*it, good job. Yo u will now hear some of the most off the wall, amusing arguments from ppl that even after looking at this will insist that toughness (ie enforcer) have NOTHING to do with winning. it is comical, but i and i know a good ammount of others agree 100% with you. personally i would have no problem losing Hudler, Kopecky, Langfield, or whatever other waste of space 4th line forward they have up. (hudler being the exemption of 4th liner, i realize he isnt a 4th liner. hell, if i had to pick i would ship Franzen if need be, and iwould take a legit forcer over drake aswell. and again great research and stats. gj!

    Brad Norton

"We had a losing record when he was in the lineup." Get your facts right, we were .500, i know its not special but i cant stand the euro allstars on here talking so bad about the only guy we've had in 2 years who knew and accepted his only job was to enforce. he isnt a "great" fighter but he isnt that bad at all, i mean it is hard to ask for a guys fighting ability from a detroit fan, half of them think lilja and franzen fill our toughness quota.

Favourite Moment of the 06/07 Regular Season?

all great memories, the one, actually 2 that I will remember are rd 2 against the sharks when it was all but over then a streaking Robert Lang tied it up, folowed by a Schnider blast in OT to give the Wings a win. when we won that game i started thinking "stanley". there were a lot of good memories, good pot topic to. hopefully 07 will bring a lot more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuFEp6_fXqE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3g8hxZJOwQk

Remember Jamie Mclennen Calgarys stick swingin backup

Wow coming from someone who finds validity in drawing a comparison between Jamie Mclennan and Bob Probert , being called "intelligent" in such a sarcastic manner really stings. Mclennan blew d*ck, thats about that, i dont have to expend intelligence in my trashing of a bush league has-bee...wait, i mean never-was nhl caliber goaltender. Impressive career stats: 80 109 33

    Yzerman's All Time Ranking

"The only two things i know for fact is Lemieux was better than Gretzky and Yzerman is somewhere between 5-7. I'll let you guys figure the rest out. " i can deal with that, good peer mediation lou.

Remember Jamie Mclennen Calgarys stick swingin backup

i don't give a f*ck if this guy was a "character" guy, he was bush league and never quite good enough. and i will judge him on that one incident because no matter how much he was liked by member of HIS team, all i ever saw from him was his two hander on my guy when we were embarassing him. F*ck noodles and the horse he rode in on.

    Yzerman's All Time Ranking

"Again though, what the heck that has to do with actually be successful at playing the game I have no idea. I don't know if I'd but Trottier (wasn't that Stevie's idol??) ahead of Stevie but I wouldn't kick somebody's teeth in for suggesting it. I might like to kick your teeth in for suggesting Stevie is ahead of Gretzky or even Mess. Thankfully, the lunacy of that makes you look silly enough that there's no need to add injury to insult. okay there homer." It means that if Yzerman had been on the teams the messier and grezky were on, surrounded by the talen they were, he would be higher then 6th on the list of career points, there, clear enough for you moron. And you call me the homer. Second, you are correct about trotier being his idol, howver i cannot find the corelation between his ranking and my personal opinion of trottier. gretzky was great and always had a great supportinf cast, messier however is not even is yzermans league bro.

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

"If we won the cup last year, would you be saying the same thing? " I dont know, it doesnt really matter though becasue we did not win the cup, nor make it to the finals. "I think it's funny that you and Lou seem to believe that Holland is the only one making these decisions on who the Wings go out and get." Well he gets all the credit when things go well, so i guess its kind of a 2 ways street.

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

wow you are getting stronger in your argument, chastising me for the way i choose to cite quotations in my posts. i dont know what you proved with your stats, against the kings 31 secs, NO SH*T sherlock he is on the team (*hence a enforcer) to do one thing, send a msg and set a tone. he does that by going afte Ivanas their HW, by doing that the message is loud and clear to the kings that if they do choose to run, cheapshot, anything with negative results to one of our skill guys then they will have to answer to someone. It happens this game that Norton set that tone early on and was not needed from then on out. My favorite stat is the one where he had ear 10 mins of ice time, no penalties and by my recolection kept up allright. you cannot argue that dressing an enforcer as a 13th forward or 7th dman will hurt point production, it wont. there will be nights also where there are no fights, and that is fine to, but it seems to me that it takes nothing away from the team and in fact adds another elements to the arsenal. and can you please, since i mean you know more then they do, tell me why Lidstrom, Schnider, Zetterberg, etc all are quoted on the record as openly admiting apreciation for finally having a enforcer in the lineup? *********ALSO Mickeyisms Rule! PLEASE give me your response to my statement regarding you claiming Nortons PM cost power play goals, I would love to hear it you twit****************

    Sharks sign Norton

they develop in the AHL, thats why we have the griffins. plus that is a non point, i am arguing that dressing an enforcer in no way cuts into point production.

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

"When he was in the box for a stupid penalty, how many times did the Wings get scored on? How many times did the opposing team look at him and his lack of skills in the fighting department and NOT become intimidated?" ARE YOU REALLY THAT DULL? he had 20 pims, all FM, all were matching fm's you moron, he took 1 with him. becomes 4 on 4 which favors the wings in most situations. "Is that why he NEVER played last year, despite the fact that Langfeld sucked?" HE NEVER PLAYED BECAUSE for some reason there is an anti enforcer policy (sarcasm, had to point it out for the tools who would take it literally), or at least thats how it seems as of late. go jump on Hudkers d*ck, i am through trying to point out the obvious, but when one of our stars goes down i hope then you will do more then tear up and scream for a 3 game suspension

    Yzerman's All Time Ranking

"I still don't understand how one would put Yzerman over Gretzky on any list. Sure Yzerman was a leader, defensively sound, etc, etc. But untouchable numbers are hard to contend with. Gretzky is number 1 in every major category with all those numbers being untouchable." How do I do it? Easy, Yzerman was in Detroit through some of the most brutal years, and red wings teams in our history and not once did he jump ship to join a "potential cup winner" he stayed in detroit and built one on his back here. that is where i give him the edge over messier and gretzky, and with that edge yzerman pulls ahead, in my eyes at least. whoever said brian trottier is better then yzerman deserves to get kicked in the teeth

Sorry guys, I understand this is a rough day for alot of you, I mean with Peter Nedved heading back to Europe and all. A sad day for european hockey fans everywhere. oh, here something to whip you into a "blind homer" frenzy. **HERE ARE SOME COMPARITIVE STATS WITH NORTON (an enforcer) AND OUR OTHER 4TH LINE FILLINS*** -Brad Norton 6 games played 0 goals 1 assist 20 PIM +3 *5 FM -Tomas Kopecky 27 games played 1 goal 0 assists 21 PIM -1 *0 FM -Matt Ellis 16 games played 0 goals 0 assists -1 6 PIM -1 *0 FM -Derek Meech 4 games played 0 goals 0 assists +1 2 PIM *0 FM -Kyle Quincey 13 games played 1 goal 0 assists 0 2 PIM *0 FM -Matt Hussey 5 games played 0 goals 0 assists -2 2 PIM *0 FM -Josh Langfield 33 games played 0 goals 2 assists +2 12 PIM *0 FM WOW! looks like that worthless sack of sh*t Norton really didnt deserve to be here. I mean, god, dressing him and having to put any of those other allstars on the bench????!?!?! ouch. its ok i guess, i mean we did re-sign Ellis, PHEW! oh, back to the norton bashing. "I consider most fighters entertaining, even if they don't sit there and wave up the crowd or do any hot dog type stuff. Norton is not entertaining at all because he got his ass kicked in the majority of the fights he was in with the Wings. The fight with Nick Tarnasky was the only fight he did remotely good in, and even that was a stretch. A fight in general is pretty entertaining, even without these guys waving up at the crowd or whatever. But Norton was just plain brutal. None of his fights were entertaining from a Wings fans perspective, because he got his ass pretty well beat in each of them (or if not, he still didn't win)." The square of with Roy was a good tilt, but you are correct in almost everything you say and I agree he would not have been my choice either. His balance is horendous, and he doesnt have the most entertaining scraps. all i am saying is its bullsh*t that all ppl do is talk sh*t about the guy when we have 6 others who suited up just as much as him who did absolutely nothing above and beyone what he did yet those other guys are never mentioned.

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

"Yes, the stats speak for themselves--all of them brought precisely nothing. What a silly post. Because Norton had one assist, you say he 'brought more to the table' than those who had zero points? " You are oblivious. The stats prove to everyone on the forum screaming about "wasting a spot on a 'enforcer'" is pointless and takes away from point production. This proves that assumption wrong you tool. "blah blah blah *snide comment* more to the table?" shut up, when it comes to the job of an ENFORCER (hence the topic of the thread) Norton did a fine job of it without being a liability.

    Why no Enforcer in Motown?

"And, if “enforcers†are supposed to be a major solution to the Wings problems, how come they didn’t win the Cup in 1999 with a guy like Ulf Samuelsson on board? In 2004 with Hatcher? Both can hit hard, etc. Why didn’t they win then?" First off I dont think anyone is arguing that enforcers singleandedly win stanley cups, moreover Ulf Samuelsson is hardly an enforcer actually more known around the league as cheapshot extrordinare/coward. I know i feel, and a couple others that an enforcer/policeman is merely an element that would make this great Wings team better. Possibly be the missing piece of the puzzle. **HERE ARE SOME COMPARITIVE STATS WITH NORTON (an enforcer) AND OUR OTHER 4TH LINE FILLINS*** -Brad Norton 6 games played 0 goals 1 assist 20 PIM +3 *5 FM -Tomas Kopecky 27 games played 1 goal 0 assists 21 PIM -1 *0 FM -Matt Ellis 16 games played 0 goals 0 assists -1 6 PIM -1 *0 FM -Derek Meech 4 games played 0 goals 0 assists +1 2 PIM *0 FM -Kyle Quincey 13 games played 1 goal 0 assists 0 2 PIM *0 FM -Matt Hussey 5 games played 0 goals 0 assists -2 2 PIM *0 FM -Josh Langfield 33 games played 0 goals 2 assists +2 12 PIM *0 FM *****Besides Langfield Norton looks like he brought the most to the table, the numbers speak for themselves my friends
