its a f*cking contact sport. Every sport that allows contact has instances of dirty play, oh wait, I get it. Next helmet to helmet hit in the NFL 5 games, next undercut in basketball, 22 games, bringing a leg up on a slide tackle in soccer 18 games, forarm to the face of a man NOT carrying the ball in rugby 5 games. Give me a break bro, 20 games for that is f*cking CRAZY. you can go off on this and that all day, 20 games for any hit, any form of check (minus cross checking, and BLATENT knee to knee) should warrant nothing more then 3 games MAX. Downie did lay a nasty, dirty hit on the guy, and he is the perfect fall guy for Bettman and Co. He has a bad reputation from juniors, is on Philly, and is young and unestablished. You are kidding yourselfs if you think this precedent will be held for everyone in the league.

This kind of shows the number of bodies that were included in the pileup we were talking about earlier
-
"The Wings cut the fat in the off season, plain and simple, we're a better team this year." Whatever makes you sleep easier bro. Losing Bertuzzi doesnt hurt, or help, its a non factor. Losing Markov on the other hand hurts us. It is pointless to argue about, I mean the year will play out and we will see who is right. But I am telling you, fighting not included whatsoever, this team is not tough enough to win a cup. And again you cited last years team, THEY DIDN'T win either so I do not know what point you are trying to get across.

"We were supposed to get tossed aside by Calgary and SJ" Get off it bro, I think people just love to mention how we won 2 rounds last year after the two AMAZING playoff runs we had in the years up to last. We all know we won, and the reason a perception formed that we were supposed to lose early, and to teams we shouldnt IS BECAUSE WE DID, 2 years in a row. And no, our team does not have the toughness or grit to win a cup, period. Watch the reels of our cup winning teams, each of the three incredibly more gritty, and physical, and I am not talking about just fighting at all. We need to address the issue or get used to being "a couple bounces" away from the stanley cup finals.

Ok Gordie, point taken, but how many games was Pronger given? How many games was Colby Armstrong give (the EXACT same type of hit), I mean hell Simon got 25 games for what he did. IT is ridiculous, and jesus maybe we should go back to the past, where players actually respected each other to a certain degree, and had to answer to other players, not collect a check and rest for 6 weeks or however long 20 games will take him into the season.

LOL, 20 games, wow. Overkill much? this is something else, whatever. this is a joke, absolute joke. How many games did Hunter get for his cross check ? this is sending a message, a message that depending on what night, and what city, and wether or not the other guy can take a hit and leave on his own 2 feet (like homer did after prongers hit, which i though was equally dirty) will determine your suspension length. 20 frigging games, give me a break. Also if you are going to start supporting this sh*t then you better go both ways cause I have 3 kronwall clips of hits similar to this, (not as bad, but leaving the feet and leading with the shoulder to head), a clip of Quincey doing this (well if we are judging Downie by his play up to the NHL we will hold everyone to this standard) and about a reel of chelios for ya.

hasnt been on yet
-
you have a point there kutcher, I have heard a lot of people say that in the past. Bad situation, that could have been avoided if there wat not some lame ass pee wee instigator rule in place
-
LOL, oh ya, you're right I had it all wrong. Bertuzzi planned on snapping his neck, and the hole time he was trying to bait him into dropping the mitts wehn skating down the ice was just a ploy to throw us off. And again, I totally forgot how Colorado brought in Moore to cheapshot other star players. This role is common in the NHL, to bring in a guy to maliciously take out stars, what the heck was I thinking again! "The game didn't need a player like that", well, i mean technically, you now saying Bertuzzi did the game a favor. You are a funny dude, and it looks like you forgot yzerman on you r all wings team, or did he just not make the cut?
-
haha that had me laughing for a minute. Ya Igor looked like Jason Williams, another shootout expert, just a little slower. I don't know about this guy, I guess he has potential, but I haven't really seen much at all of it yet.
-
lol, draper will be taking the faceoffs, dont fret
-
Kcjacoby great pics, looks like amazing seats too.
-
here is the Downey v. Roy video. Great fu*king tilt, a good old fashioned, wide open slug fest. No hugging here. SIGN THIS WARRIOR Downey vs. Roy. Great Scrap
-
lol, ya newbie. Funny the ****** bag is calling me a newbie. You obviously dont know much about the game so resort to computer lingo in a sorry attempt to insult me. People like you make me laugh, especially when you try to talk about hockey, it really is comical.
-
Whatever, you guys are right. f*** Downey, lets go with Ellis, he is what we need. F*cking morons. "That was a great quote by me. If you watched the series then you would have seen Nieds and Pronger gang up on Homer. Plus other low blow tactics the duck had to resort to win a cup." Ya, and by doing that Pronger their arguably #1 dman was then sitting out next game. Did we capitalize? NO. There was no wings domination in this series, it was a good tight series but at the end they were just to much. You act as though this series even went to game 7. IT DIDNT

You are lost my friend, the NHL is what it is. I suggest you get into another sport or wait for the Olympics bro. This is as watered down as the NHL will ever be, and mark my words in 2 years or less the instigator rule is gone, because hits like this and Downies, Simons, etc.
-
Wow people like you are ruining the game. To end exaples of things like the Bertuzzi incident you get rid of the instigator penalty twit. And your comments "if Lidstrom said wear figure skates would you" or whatever you are talking about make you sound like a bigger ****** bad then before. First, Lidstrom has forgotten more about hockey then any 10 of us combined, so shut up, you have absolutely no chance of arguing you are right and Lidstrom is wrong about ANYTHING that has to do with ice, skates, a puck, and sticks. Downie should get 3 games, anything more is a joke. Hockey is a contact sport, his hit was dirty, big deal. His worse punishment, I can gauruntee you is going to come to him on the ice, I don't know when but this guy is a marked man around the league and that I feel bad for him, he does deserve what he has coming though. Watch the reaction in the clip below, I cant put my finger on it but somehthing is different, the Senators reaction to the hit compared to the Wings when Lebda, Homer, Franzen, Williams, Hasek all got run bad is different. WHAT CAN IT BE THOUGH??? I dont know but someone might be able to help me out

Meech does sck and I cannot figure out why everyone is on his nuts. Grigs had done nothing to warrant him earning a spot on the team, send him to Grand Rapids and let him get in shape and develop there, if he wants to go back to Russia so be it. It baffles me how some players have such a following (meech, grigs, etc) and have done nothing at all to warrant it.
-
He may not win them all, but you got to love the guy, not a ounce a quit in him and he is a flat out warrior. Enjoy ***EDIT*** Found another one I had to post, great watch for the scrap against Grimson (he is in the old ducks uniform, Downey does allright) and this one has the actual fight (not the infamous squareoff) with Norton. ENJOY! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Downey talking sh*t to the Blues bench Blow what?
-
hahaha you are arguing against Lidstroms statement of needing tougher guys to do the policing. Wow, gutsy, you look like a absolute idiot in doing so, but definitly gutsy. "I don't care if it's a Wings player or someone from another team. Just because a Wings player does it, it doesn't make it any more right." Well fortunatly no one cares what you think, well at least no one that really matters. So preach on brother.
-
Ya, but so does Chelios. It doesnt make right, but there are players that make careers around it
-
oh without a doubt it was dirty as hell, and he should get punished. But I am not going to hate Downie b/c of it, where as I like Chris Simon, but after what he did to Hollweg I lost all respect for him whatsoever.
-
No european hockey is great to watch, but not in North America. And yes I would rather watch a fight or 2 during a hockey game, especially if I have to choose between that and watching hits like Downies cheat hit last night that resulted in a guy leaving on a stretcher. I don't like boxing, and please refrain from statements as juvenile as the "why dont you watch boxing" one was. I mean we can play that game if you want. Fine you don't like fighting in hockey, go watch figure skating.
-
I cannot wait to the responses some are going to give about Lidstroms statements. I cant wait to hear the following: -"Oh ya, I agree, I don't hate tough guys but Downey's not the one." (Same thing was said about Norton by the same people). GUESS WHAT GUYS WERE NOT GOING TO GET ANOTHER PROBERT, guys that can fight anyone in the league twice a night and score a goal or pick up an assist or two on a nightly basis come around very seldom so stop making comparisons. -

"No but you sure as s*** clutter up the message board." Ya well it looks like they are getting the quite a bit of conversation going as well you tool. Furthermore, while you are free to call it "clutter", which is fine, only a opinion of yours, I am going to go ahead and express my feeling on your postings. And it is that you are absolutely clueless about hockey as a sport, along with the mentality that surrounds it. You are the type that was elated when the new shootout rule was brought in and that fighting has no place anymore and that "goons" are a waste of a spot on the roster. Also you do not really know anything technical whatsoever about what you talk about, instead you have personal feelings about an aspect of the game and run with it, statements such as "he's got no where near the talent to crack this lineup" clearly show this. How does he clearly not have the talent? Really, who has more goals in the preseason, Downey or Grigs? As you can see that is a very general, and sideways argument. I made it so you can see what next to everything you type here looks like. kbye
