"The fact that McAmmond didn't get up means that the Downie hit was worse than the Kronwall hit." No it means one's body could take a hit better then the others could.
-
MrSandMan I find it funny that you are calling anyone a homer. You are taking a side in a argument for no other reason then to be a prick. downey got the edge in that tilt, no one is saying he never loses, he has lost a lot and I dont think that is a secret. But for you to crack on the only guy, yes the single player left in our lineup that will drop the mitts against any HW in the NHL to protect his teamates, spark the team, send a message, etc. is absolutely obnoxious. PS- here is a nice little quote of yours that now makes it clear why the Ducks beat us..... And you have the nerve to call other people homers? "It'd be sad if we resorted to the low, no talented, cheap shot type play like the Ducks had to use to win a cup. As a loyal Detroit Red Wing fan, I;d get no joy or enjoyment watching the wings win a cup this way. Cheap shots < talent."

hit is questionable, the point was brought up if a wing laid a hit like that on it would have been deemed "amazing" here on the boards. Like him or not Downie is a gamer who plays with emotion and goes 100% of the time. He was a f*cking treat to watch in Windsor and I expect the same to be true with him in Philly. I am not saying I approve or applaude hits of this nature, but it happens, especially when a guy is trying to do whatever it takes to stand out in order to better his chances of making the league. These things are going to happen, like it or not, it is unfortunate I suppose but when profesional athletes are in the heat of competition some times they don't think the same way as we do, sitting in front of our computers. here are somewhat "questionable" hits by Wings, I dont think any are as severe, but proves the wings are not innocent of never leaving their feet for a hit either: Kronwall Kronwall 2

Wade Brookbank Kip Brennan Dan Lacouture *Our new 4th line, you guys want to talk about a grind line, hahaha, this is it. Come on Kenny ya p*ssy DOOOO it
-
"All I can say was Nice F-ing hit. Way to finish your chech Steve. Sorry that Dean got hurt but sh*t happens. A suspension definately is not needed. He only left his feet AFTER he made contact with Dean. Therefore not a charge. His shoulder did hit Deans head , only cause Deans head was down. Lesson here KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!" Ha ha I like this guy allready. Makes a solid point as well, please sty around, need more posters like you.

If you know how to score a hockey fight it is Downey with a slight edge in this one. No can make all the sarcastic comments you want, attack me, whatever. I am just telling you that was a draw until the last bomb Downey landed which did in fact buckle the knees of Roy which then caused him to go to the ice. kthanks
-
it was a dirty hit, but not even in the same category of what McSorley or Simon did. Tow different leagues a severity
-
Hit was dirty, incredibly dirty and he will get punished. Aside from that I love Downie as a player, used to go to a bunch of Windsor Spitfires games when he wore the C there and watching him play was worth admission itself
-
come on let us Downey fans have our fun when he is still on the team, we all know he is going to get cut so this is all the time we have
-
Ya no sh*t sherlock, do I try to hide what the contents of my thresds are? No, look at the titles, so if you dont like the idea dont f*cking look or comment on them
-
you are correct about his one move, but there is a good reason why and that is because the guys he fights usually have a arm reach advantage and if the guy with less reach swings first, well this happens video will explain it
-
"You know it isn't necessary to start a new topic every time you find a new you tube video... You could post it in, say, the thread you have going already." Shut up, dont read it or post in it if you dont like it. Nice avatar to, euro hockey RULES
-
"Of course not. This one was WAYYY better. Downey : Heart and Soul Fighter against a true-to-god heavyweight." Wow suprise suprise coming from someone with a swedish flag as an avatar. ha ha, wow, Downey lost? you guys are f*cking crazy, I am not even going to bother arguing anymore it is evident you are unwilling to give the guy credit whatever he does. Just like Norton beat Roy last year, Downey beat Roy, end of story.
-
you are wrong
-
lol, you are a fool.

I saw the game to Ska, have to say your review was dead on, good job. The only slight disagreement I would have is that I think Grigs looked, for lack of better term, bad. But dead on review.
-
You are a idiot. "I said he coudl fight anyone on that list if he wanted to. And followed that up by stating it doesn't make him a good fighter." He would be literally dead or sent into real early retirement somewhere withing the first 3. I have never ranked a top 50 you smoke, so I dont know but WOW did you make a point with that one. And please, even though it got me laughing, DO NOT WIKIPEDIA ANDRE ROY THEN PARAPHRASE IT HERE ACTING AS THOUGH YOU KNOW SOMETHING
-
Ya, I saw the game as well. Ryno needs to develop in Grand Rapids but I do think he will be a star someday. Ozzie looked absolutely out of it, Sopel looked bad, Erikson looked amazing in the 1st, and I dont know if it was me but Grigs looked pathetic, put us down a man twice, lazy shift after lazy shift, I dont know how Babcock can keep him with the big boys, at least from the start. Downey in a nice scrap with a W, also played solid hockey with the ice time he got.
-
I saw the game, and I would have to say everything is on point besides the fact of out *enforcers getting their butts kicked, Clarke did lose in a spirited bout, however Downey pulls out a W against crafty toughguy Andre Roy. Wow Roy is 0-2 the past 2 years when it comes to squaring of with a red wing. Ha ha

You are a f*cking tool bro. I am done arguing with you, your points are both idiotic and have zero substance. "Hudler could fight that list if he wanted to", are you 10 bro? What kind of statement, ya he could, then after 1 or 2 he would be dead, literally, he definitly would not make it through the entire list and still have a winning record you twit. I do not know why I even give you the time of day, you are a moron. Where would I put him on the list? I dont know, I suppose not #1, probably not in the top 30, but I do know that he would be #1 on this team because who are we kidding, besides Drake, and I guess Lilja our team is a bunch of p*ssies. I love em, they are my favorite team in the world but they need to toughen up. Could you imagine if that line brawl took place in a wings game? They would get f*cking killed. Ah, there my venting is complete, Nick you are still and absolute ****** bag, who I would wager a sh*t ton does not know anything more about hockey then what he reads on espn.com's msg board. SNOOTCHY BOOCHY's *** PS- dont even ask him a question like where he would rank Ande Roy, Nick would have absolutely ZERO clue who Andre Roy was unless Norton fought him last year.
-
Nazarov was up there and Kevin Sawyer was for sure up there, and the others guys I noted b/c they were the only ones I figured he would recognize. Anyways we can go ahead and mention his wins against Chris Neil and Peter Worrell, do those work?
-
***WOW, what a scrappy night around the league. I do not know what fight you were watching, Downey with a clear Win, and Clark in a spirited battle got edged out by Tarnasky. Not nearly as bad as when Tarnasky beat up on Bootland though. LOVING IT
-
"Downey is barely a fighter let alone a player. Honestly, how far down the rankings of guys that fight in the NHL do you put Aaron Downey? Is he even top 50?" Ok, you are officially out of your mind, after reading this statement you have made it clear to me how much of a grasy you really have on the enforcing aspect of the game. Downeys Card: Sep 20 NHL Bos-Chi Reid Simpson Sep 26 NHL Flo-Bos Peter Worrell Sep 11 NHL Bos-Buf Eric Boulton Sep 17 NHL Bos-Flo Paul Laus Sep 24 NHL Chi-Bos Bob Probert Sep 17 NHL Buf-Chi Rob Ray Sep 19 NHL StL-Chi Reed Low Sep 29 NHL Nas-Chi Stu Grimson Oct 11 NHL Pho-Chi Brad May Dec 21 NHL Edm-Chi Georges Laraque Mar 12 NHL Chi-Pho Andrei Nazarov Oct 11 NHL Ana-Dal Kevin Sawyer Dec 15 NHL Dal-Chi Chris Simon Dec 17 NHL Dal-Phi Todd Fedoruk Dec 27 NHL Dal-Flo Peter Worrell Feb 11 NHL Car-Dal Jesse Boulerice Feb 25 NHL Dal-Bos Krzysztof Oliwa Mar 12 NHL Dal-Min Brad Brown Sep 25 NHL Dal-Chi Travis Moen Sep 27 NHL Det-Dal Ryan Barnes Oct 13 NHL Dal-Buf Andrew Peters Sep 25 NHL Dal-Chi Travis Moen Sep 27 NHL Det-Dal Ryan Barnes Oct 13 NHL Dal-Buf Andrew Peters Sep 23 NHL StL-Chi Matthew Barnaby Nov 2 NHL Chi-StL Jim Vandermeer Nov 9 NHL StL-CBJ Jody Shelley Dec 27 NHL Mon-Was Donald Brashear There are SOME of his fight, against guys I figured you may have heard of. He has fought every HW in this league and has an overall Career record of 35-30-24. With noteable win against HW's such as Andrei Nazarov, Paul Laus, Kevin Sawyer, Chris Simon, Jesse Boulerice, Andrew Peters, Krzysztof Oliwa, Tyson Nash, Matthew Barnaby and others. Yes he has lost to, but fighting the kind of people this guy is no one (except maybe Probert) can be expected to win them all. OH and he just kicked the sh*t out of Andre Roy
-
For once I am going to have to agree with Nick, Southern dont read/post in these threads if it pains you that much bro
-
We have to remember here that we are talking about Carolina under the context of the only team to win without a HW (which is absolute BS anyways b/c Boulerice had a nice little fight card there until Downey knocked him the f*ck out) well keep in mind that this "Non fighting, no enforcer" stanley cup winner still had twice as many FM then Detroit last year, and 3x as many as the 05-06 wings team. Get a clue I have no problem with enforcers. So long as they can play the game. A roster spot and cap space is too important to waste on a guy that can't contribute while he's got gloves on.
