    SIGN HIM!

"Patrik Magnusson, D, 18, 6-7, 244, 41-7-12-19-91, HV-71 (SWE J-20). The 6-foot-7 hulk is physically strong but not quick on his feet. He is headed to Prince George of the WHL after being selected in June's CHL import draft. " From rrc list of tryout invites, and norrisnick allready was talking about him in the prospect thread but i figured to drop his info here to... WE need to sign this kid, enroll him in boogies fight school, and presto, an enforcer. All joking aside this kid looks like an absolute beast, and some feedback on him has been positive.

AO in a night club brawl in Moscow

"Not to mention he's a sly guy - ordering poor Sid all that room service food" Bahahahaha that was a great commercial. "I fail to see how being needlessly violent makes him 'the man.'" Why does there always have to be 1 person ruining the thread, please shut up.

    Niedermayer to return next season?

If Neids returns the Ducks are hands down the best team in hockey, both on paper and in reality. Not saying that they will win for sure, but I am saying they are presason favorites.

    Fighting poll

"Personally I feel fighting does have it's place in hockey, & if anyone has played the game - they'd most likely agree" That statement is 100% true, also fighting will never be banned, it just wont happen, it is woven to deep into the fabric of the game.

"He's swedish though, and that trumps all." Very true, and maybe the best thing going for him in this organization.

    SIGN HIM!

"He spent most of his time with HV71, a team in the Swedish Superelit League. He had seven goals, 12 assists, 91 penalty minutes and was plus +30 in 41 regular season games, then added a goal and an assist in four playoff games." Not to shabby in a pretty decent league. Some non drafted noteables include: Avery, Sean Belfour, Ed Bergeron, Marc-Andre Ciccarelli, Dino Joseph, Curtis Kunitz, Chris Lebda, Brett Oates, Adam Penner, Dustin Rafalski, Brian St. Louis, Martin Stastny, Peter So I mean the whole "draft" can be significant, there are plenty of talented NHL'ers who were not drafted. However what is true is that Holland tends to look the other direction when it comes to really big boys, lets hope that his last name and the fact he is from Europe is enough to get him a fair shake. Haha

this guy could literally eat hudler and flip, he's a monster. I am going to try to find any video, and the not to swift at the feet part doent mean much, I do not know many guys this big that are balerinas, and its definitly WAYYYYYYYY to early to even begin comparing him to hatcher, i mean being as though none of us have seen him play hockey "Prince George head coach Drew Schoneck says that Magnusson compares favourably to Vladimir Mihalik, who was drafted 30th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2005: "The first thing he said when he got in here was, 'hey, small ice' -- he likes to play a bit more of a physical game, I think, and he likes to step up and pinch a little bit. We might have to curtail that a bit because he doesn't have what you'd call get-back-quick speed, but he's shown good vision on the ice. He's played on the big ice so he understands the importance of angles. He'll get more comfortable as things go along, but I like his shot, it's hard and heavy, and he makes some little simple plays to his defence partner that Vladdy didn't always make. The WHL's a scrappy league, and Magnusson says that he's rady for any taunts that come his way, both on and off the ice: "I'm prepared for the worst," said Magnusson. "Fights every game, whatever it is, I've been getting tips from friends and from the players here, and I'll be able to handle myself. That part will be a big challenge."

That last post gave you and all your futile arguments a lot more credit. And by the way you are acting now, and that last post, you are about 10-11? You still have some time to give hockey a shot, you should try it out

"That was sort of the point F." What exactly is the point, Maltby does fight? Avery doesnt? They both dont? I mean do you watch hockey? There is absolutely NO COMPARISON between Avery and Maltby when it comes to fighting, zero. Sean Avery season fight count: 2002-2003 Regular Season (11) 2003-2004 Preseason (2) 2003-2004 Regular Season (14) 2005-2006 Regular Season (8) 2006-2007 Preseason (1) 2006-2007 Regular Season (4) 2006-2007 Postseason (1) TOTAL SINCE 02-03= 41 Fighting Majors Kirk Maltby season fight count: 2002-2003 Regular (1) 2003-2004 Regular Season (2) 2003-2004 Postseason (1) 2005-2006 Regular Season (1) TOTAL since 02-03= 5 Fighting Majors. *Wow great comparison bro, I think you should double check before you make such asinine comparisons, or as you put is "points" "I guess because I've never played hockey, I know so little about it. Let's see, the game starts at center ice with a face-off. The puck has to be the first object across the blue line or it's offside. The team that scores the most goals wins the game. A minor penalty is worth 2:00, a major penalty is worth 5:00." You said it not me, however I was correct in assuming you had never played the sport, the rest of your reply is abble rhetoric that to tell you the truth i did not take the time to really read. Thank you for the penalty minute times, you forgot to metion that the vast majority of minor penaltys are not matching, where as the vast majortiy of fighting majors are in fact matching, meaning, you do not put your team a man down. But it was a cute attempt to be witty. Found this interesting, an archive article from mlive.com. I mean the players want an enforcer, why do some here not? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunday, October 01, 2006 Players prefer Norton The Wings will make their final cuts Monday and it's anybody's guess who will get the 13th forward spot, the only roster spot up for grabs. Krys Kolanos, Matt Hussey and Brad Norton are competing for it. I was talking to a few players who said they hope Norton gets the job. They think they need a big, tough guy on the roster. Even if he only plays 3-4 minutes a night and sits out a lot of games, they feel they need that kind of presence. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Ummm Liv was a goaltender, are you suggesting the wings cut a player who at the time was the supposed future of the wings in the net, to get a fighter on the ice." You are a retard, I am sorry thats all I can say. First off Liv was never looked at as the wings future. Second of all he was one of the 3 or four people I used as an example of taking up a roster spot yet didnt dress every night thus supporting my argument that just b/c you have an enforcer does not mean he has to play every regular season game, only the ones where it look like he may be needed. "Maybe he actually considers things in hockey OTHER THAN fighting. You know, like good goaltending, having a few good scorers, decent coaching, etc." I take back what I said about the post above, YOU take the cake when it comes to absolute asinine comments that really hold zero substance. Let me begin with garunteeing you that I have forgotten more about hockey then you will ever know. It is quite evident you never played hockey, at least at a competitive, non pickup/beer league level. Maybe in am focusing on the enforcer aspect more then the others because we allready have the other areas covered you twit. Goaltending=no worries, skill players/goal scorers=no worries, coaching=no worries, toughness/enforcer=NONE ON THE ROSTER.

    Pronger Strikes Again

I was playing in a pickup league about 2 years back and one of our guys took a brutal cheapshot, elbow to the head that ended up putting him in the hospital for a night and on the IR for the next 3-4 games. Anyways we didnt do anything, we went on the powerplay and that was our enforcer. Moreover 3 more similar incidents happened the same season and for all three we took to action instead we waited to the offseason and signed an old highschool star who was now 58 and was a shadow of his former self. We showed them didnt we!

"Because he doesn't encourage fighting when it isn't necessary? Or because he disagrees with you......" Neither smarta*s, because he disregards 7 examples of how the wings stood by and DID NOTHING after a teamate was absolutely run over and jumps to the Markov Stoll incident. Moreover I am going to go further in saying you are worse then him, you actually make him look like a hockey scholar. "I think they are all a vital element to any team and something you can never have enough of. I just don't see the logic in dedicating a roster spot to a guy whos only going to dress 10-15 games when it could be better served to a rookie. If we lacked depth and no one was ready to step in, than ok maybe to fill the roster but we've got guys knocking on the door. " How long was Liv on the Roster? Or Meech, or Ellis or some other WASTE as you like to call it. Why not fill one of those spots with a guy that can police for our team. "I know you guys dont think we're tough enough because we don't have anybody known for fighting, but what practical solution do you offer up to fix that? Naming off unavailable players does not help your cause." No no no, i dont think that we are not tough enough, I know we arent tough enough. Well my practical solution would have been to sign Aaron Asham before he was signed, since that happened I have yet to bring up any names but now that you ask I will give you some UNSIGNED names. I pick Reed Low, yes cause he can fight, but more to see ppl like you on this forum cry like 8 year olds.

    Lilja vs. Corson fight video

A little off topic but when Draper and Drake fought during the line brawl a couple years back Drake won, but Draper held his own, I mean he did just fine and in no means was made to look like a fool. I will find some Maltby clips, it is my mission now.

"I don't think you are getting it yet. Being perceived as soft from past playoffs has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the Wings were NOT soft in these most recent playoffs" I am not arguing it does you twit. And another thing we did not come within inches of beating the ducks, hell we didnt even come within inches of a game 7.

Meech's deal is for three years

I was illustrating that there are many here that will be anti fighting. Thats all, praise jesus for Meech and the new contract and ya you are right it was like comparing Grigorenko and you, it was exactly the same actually. And I obviously love Norton you can tell by all the praise I gave him: "am not syaing we should have neccessarily kept Norton or even brought him up from GR after he was sent down" "while another player who was just as much of a waste" "ONE MORE time though, I want to reiterate that I am not saying Norton was better then Meech" "Not that Norton was good or should of been re-signed, and not that Meech shoudnt have been re-signed. But that looking at 2 guys that didnt do sh*t really for the Wings" "I KNOW NORTON HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MEECH's resigning, i never claimed he did, i KNOW he didnt" So yes I obviously loved Norton, and am blaming him with Meech, even going as far as drawing paralells. Thank you for showing me the light brother.

I BROUGHT IT UP TO SHOW THAT ALOT OF PPL ARE ANTI-FIGHTING HERE THAT IS ALL. wtf more do i need to say for you to understand it. man do i miss stuff like this,....

I know they were to be percieved as "soft", and a lot of that had to due with the fact they showed no heart throughout the last few playoffs and more or less got grinded into the ice for it. And when the wings were mentioned as "soft" and would lose to Calgary I think that was because no one had any other reason to think otherwise, they did it a couple years prior to us and Edmonton did it to use the year before.

Meech's deal is for three years

"Wow... I've tried for a while now to pinpoint all the horribly wrong things of this post, but I've given up. So I'll just say this." Are you slow? here: The post was made to illustrate to anti fighting sentiment of many here on the forum. Not that Norton was good or should of been re-signed, and not that Meech shoudnt have been re-signed. But that looking at 2 guys that didnt do sh*t really for the Wings, one got bashed like hell, and one didnt, actually instead draws praise. Thats all. Another thing I find rather funny is you calling anyone at any hockey website a noob, haha isnt that a little of the pot calling the kettle black? And maybe is Babcock matched Norton with Peters all night that goal would not have happened but we will never know, but Peters scoring even strength after the FM's were served reflects nothing on Norton, but maybe i am also a noob. That would like me saying Norton should get praise for the wings scoring when him and Roy were in the box serving time for their scrap in Pitt. But I wouldnt say that would I. You end your post with you dont understand how Norton got dragged into this, well I think it is apparent that is not the only thing you dont understand.
