Bla bla bla we have so many injuries so we shouldn't complain about losing. But here is the newsflash: In April when teams start clinching playoff spots, the NHL isn't going to say "Oh those poor Red Wins had so many injuries and would have had a much better record if they had Franzen the whole season. This isn't fair...let's just give them the last spot and kick out the current 8th seed." It's not going to happen. I don't care how many injuries there are. If they don't make playoffs I will be very upset and I have a right to be. Just because we have injuries doesn't mean Lebda and Meech can't stop sucking. It doesn't mean Hank and Pav can't step up even more this year. The whole team needs to step it up.

This is not June 2008. It is also not June 2009. It is December 2009 and things have changed. How long are people going to say it's okay for Ozzie to slack off this year because he did a great job the last two postseasons? This is his job. He is paid to play for the entire year, not just playoffs. As fans, we pay all this money to go see the Wings play expecting them to work their asses off every night. Osgood was great in the playoffs. He should have won the Conn Smythe last year if we would have won. But this is a new season, and he is slacking off considerably. And I am sick and tired of him doing this because I love him and I know what he is capable of. The last two postseasons are the reasons I'm so frustrated with him. Because he plays out of his mind when he wants to, instead of every single game.

I think Lidstrom is a good captain, but he is too nice. But this is why we have the three A's on our team, so they can make up for whatever is lacking a little bit in the captain. I'm glad Draper stepped up.

12/5 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Devils 4 (SO)

Let's put Stuart in goal once we get our whole roster back -
Most people in Michigan love the Wings. So how do we expect them to start liking another team? Even the people that do go to the games won't be fans of the new team. They will be Wings fans who happen to go to another team's games because it's closer to where they lived. If the Wings sucked or something I could see fans leaving, but I don't think they will right now.

With cap room next season, what is our priority?

College hockey is huge in Minnesota but let's not forget they lost their team (the North Stars) the first time. So if you consider the #1 college hockey state, it would be Minnesota, but the #1 pro-hockey state would have to be Michigan out of the two because we have had a team for a long ass time and never lost ours. I also think it's important to consider quality as well as quantity. The Stanley Cup has yet to call Minnesota home.

Because you usually only get injured when you do s***.

Haha watch them sign Chelios for like $10 next year

I didn't necessarily mean a villain like Pronger or Avery. I meant Crosby's villain or enemy. Last year it seemed like all I saw on tv and the internet were stories about how Ovechkin makes fun of Crosby, kind of like a bully. And all the commotion about his goal celebrations and how mean he is and stuff like that. They just kind of make him seem like the mean popular boy in high school.
-
I'm not entirely surprised that they didn't suspend him, but it still seems odd considering how over the past few years the NHL has been marketing Ovechkin to be the villain to Crosby the good boy.

I think Howard has been doing a really good job lately. However, this comes right after his great game tonight, so that bias might be affecting me. But I'm really happy with his play lately. And I am really disappointed with Osgood. Yeah I know he kept us in the playoffs two years in a row and bla bla bla but I'm getting really sick of him disappearing in the regular season. He found his switch last year, but does that mean he can turn on the switch this year as well? It just seems like when he has a starting position, he is content and doesn't work as hard. I'm especially angry after he let in a goal less than a minute into the first and third periods on his last start.

I love how the NHL.com headline is "Alex Ovechkin leaves with knee injury." http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=508044

Does it matter? If it was a pp goal then it wouldn't give our players a - for the play at least.

I don't know about the others, but I know that one son is legally blind.

Haha remember when everyone was like "Umm why did we pick him up again?"

Yay I'm actually gonna not go to bed angry tonight. -
I completely agree. I was having this conversation with my mom last night who said "Well we have all these injuries and bla bla bla." Injuries are huge but they aren't the only thing bringing us down. Injuries aren't making Osgood give up a goal within the first minute of two different periods. I love the Wings with all my heart, but sometimes loving them means expecting the best out of them. We know Datsyuk is capable of being one of the best forwards in the league. So why isn't he scoring in these games? Zetterberg is supposed to be our next captain. What better way to lead the team than on the scoreboard? Osgood is a brick wall when it comes to playoffs. I am so sick and tired of him giving up weak goals early into a game when we all know what he's really capable off. It seems like everyone is taking this season off. I'm not expecting Meech and Lebda to be superstars or anything but they have been in the NHL long enough where they should know how to not do stupid things with the puck. They look like high school players out there. The excuse that I'm sick of the most is "Well the Wings are coming off two very long playoff runs and they are tired." Well so are the Pens. Their playoff runs were just as long as ours the last two years and look at them. And it's not like they didn't have most of June, all of July, and some of August to rest up. These men are PROFESSIONAL hockey players. It's their job to show up and play. I feel a little better now after that.

Ahh I'm so angry. I hate my job too but you don't see me slacking off. -
Taking the awful way this team was playing at the beginning of this season into consideration and comparing it to the recent games do you think the Wings are "back?" Yes we won Saturday, but Howard gave up 4 goals. Does it matter? Just wanted to hear some opinions...Do you think the Wings have a good chance of lapsing back into October play or are you more confident now?

What kind of powerplay is this? -
Shootouts are great for entertainment. Who doesn't like to see sick moves? However, sports should not be about entertainment. Sports should be about passion for the game. Do any of us consider pro wrestling a sport? A shootout competition during the All Star Weekend is a good idea because it's fun to see. But I don't like the idea of a team winning a hockey game in a way that didn't even involve playing hockey.

Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?
Lovin Jiri Fischer replied to Miller Brew's topic in General
Then I would like to hear your exact argument as to why Detroit "sucks." Do you mean city or team?
