Under the law, cab drivers are allowed to do keep people in the car until they pay. What cab driver is seriously gonna just trust a bunch of kids and say "Okay I'll let you out of the car but you better not go anywhere without paying me." And that's bulls*** about them not being able to reach their wallets. When i'm in the car I can always reach into my pockets just fine. Maybe next time they should get the cash out and have it ready in their hand before they get in the cab to avoid not being able to reach it later...

That's what I said. The media overreacted to the whole pot thing, and the rest of the average citizens of the country commented on how the media was blowing it out of proportion. And yeah, someone who does drugs when he is supposed to be an athlete and put his career first is not the role model I would chose for my future children. And still, pot is not beating up an old man. But for you to completely defend beating up an old man because "the rest of us commit crimes" makes no sense. Even if lots of people do it, doesn't mean it's right.

Oh man if we could re-sign Lidstrom at less money and free up cap room with our retiring players and get Kovalchuck to sign and have a goaltending team of Ozzie and Hiller, I would consider that a very successful offseason.

I don't think anyone really cared about Phelps smoking pot. They cared more about the media's reaction to it. He can do any drug he likes because that only affects his dumb ass and no one else. Yes, I drink underage, jaywalk, and set off fireworks once in a while. But that is not the same as beating someone up. The "crimes" I commit don't affect anyone else but myself.

Goalie masks are cool and all but I don't get why some people get stupid things on them (like Hirsch's psycho mask). I've seen everything between Big Bird and Darth Vader. It just doesn't scream "team player" when you have something on your mask that doesn't represent your team. That's why I like Ozzie's mask. Plain red with "Detroit Red Wings" on it. That shows what his passions are.

The only two concerns I have for the season: Backup goaltending. We are pretty much relying on Ozzie to stay 100% sharp and healthy the whole season. Or Howard needs to step it up. But backup goaltending is a regular season issue that shouldn't matter too much in the playoffs. Offensive production: We need everyone who is not Datsyuk to take a huge step up this season. I know they are up for the challenge though. But what team in the West can take us? San Jose? Nope. I think last year was their year. Chicago? Doubt it. They still don't have a good goalie. Anaheim? Not so much. They lost Pronger anyway.

So is it safe to say that Williams is the new whipping boy now that Kopecky has left?

This is what I was thinking. Imagine what could have been if Vladdy had not had the accident and played long enough to be paired with Fischer. That would have been sick. And then Fischer with Lilja when Vladdy retired? And now we have Ericsson coming up soon. Much better than watching Lebda skate around.
