To all the people thinking the Blackhawks did nothing wrong: How is signing a person on paper for 12 years but telling him in reality that he will only play for about 9 years right/legal? If a team signs a player for a certain amount of years but does not intend to follow that contract, that is not right. That is called being deceitful and pretty much lying on paper. It's one thing for a player to think about retirement when he comes to a certain age and his body isn't working the way he wanted it to. But it's a completely different thing for a player to sign a contract fully knowing he will be retiring before the contract is up.

Wait a second...so I clicked on this thinking it was something stupid and whiny that Crosby said yet again, willing to put up with this image burning my eyes out for the sake of reading it...and it was nothing? Not cool.

Why is everybody freaking out? I think 99% of the people that posted here agree that race doesn't/shouldn't matter in hockey. And on the topic of lack of black interest in hockey: I agree that the high cost is part of it. I also think it has to do with the fact that a large portion of our country's black people live in the south where there already isn't much interest in hockey (contrary to popular belief).

The Pens won fair and square. All he is saying is that it took a plague of injuries to the Red Wings for it to happen.

But we all know that when players come back from long injuries they don't start performing right away. Hossa will miss summer conditioning, training camp, and two months of playing hockey. He's bound to be out of shape until the middle of January, making him useless for half a season, provided that he even returns on time. And I'm not saying the Hawks will get nowhere without him, but it's gonna be really hard for them to be one of the best with Havlat and Khabibulin gone and Hossa out. They will be left with two forwards and two defensemen to pick up the slack. Oh and Kopecky. Yeah they will probably still make the playoffs, but 2.5-3 months is a lot of hockey and I think the Hawks will be very surprised to find themselves trying to catch up to win the division instead of on top like they expect. But this is just all my opinion.

Just make a test asking them to list three players other than Fluery, Malkin, or Crosby. About half of the students will fail this. Make this test worth 50% of their grade.

Exactly what I was thinking. It reminded me of a well-known cheap shot artist who shoved one of our players' face into the corner of the bench years ago.

I think the reason everyone is down on Hossa is because he didn't show up to play in the finals. He came to Detroit expecting to win a Stanley Cup. This made us expect him to be some great contributor to our win. He then failed to produce in the finals and for most of the playoffs, leaving us a little disappointed in him. And the way I see it is he had an opportunity to prove himself to us one more time, but he bailed. I don't think many of us are hurt that he left, but would have wanted him to stay and prove himself to us after he f***ed up in the finals. It was nice having him in the regular season, but we do not need him.

Well the Olympics will kinda be like home games for them

I hated the Ducks because of three players: Pronger and Perry for obvious reasons and Jiggy for using mattress pads. Pronger is gone and we didn't even see Jiggy in the playoffs so I kinda stopped caring about the Ducks. But now that I think about it I still really don't respect Niedermeyer for being such a bad captain and not giving a s*** about his team in the past.

I wanna know when this "real story of what happens" comes out. Either Havlat will look like a girl or something juicy will be there to entertain me for a day.

If the NHL is gonna put in a salary cap for players, limiting the amount they are allowed to be rewarded for their success, then the commissioner should have a salary cap too.

I don't know about you guys, but if a new reality show came out called "Chicago Blackhawks Management Office" where they film all of the decisions and conversations that go along with them, I would totally watch it because it's going to get very interesting come September.

Conklin for sure. I know he didn't do much for us in the playoffs, but having a solid backup is so so important. If anything should ever happen to Ozzie, I'm not too confident in Howard just yet.

Yeah can we please not boo? Booing Sergei is one thing because we made him who he was and he left like a spoiled diva. On the other hand, Hossa was with us for a year and had nothing but nice things to say about Detroit. I agree that he's an idiot but booing him is just embarrassing. I don't want to look like spoiled Pens fans.

I was considering laminating all of mine but I also want to keep them as they are so when I have kids I can pull them out and read them as bedtime stories or something. But I want to keep them nice too. It's a toughie. I don't have any extra copies.

With all these changes going on, who thinks the Leafs can make the playoffs this year? It's not like they can get any worse...

The bolded part is a run-on sentence. It should be, "I'm sorry. This is driving me nuts." OR "I'm sorry, but this is driving me nuts." Since we are on the subject...

Oh you know he's gonna get suspended over and over again now. He will take the opportunity to crush Malkin and Crosby and have to pay for it every time. Even if he doesn't get suspended, expect to see him in the box at least twice a game when he plays the Pens.
