Thank you for being positive. This is what I have been telling everyone around me thinking the Pens are gonna demolish us. At the end of the day, we are the Detroit Red Wings and they are not. That is our advantage. Sure the Pens are more experienced now because they played in the finals last year. Guess what??? We also played in the finals last year and therefore also have another year of experience. The difference is that the Pens gained a year of experience in becoming conference champs, and we gained a year of experience for winning it all. And everyone remember that we were 34 seconds away from finishing them in 5 last year. For sure it will be closer this year, but last year was not exactly down to the wire. Sure it took 6 games, but that was extreme luck for the Pens.

Honey, Ottawa was a two-man show in 07 and guess what??? They didn't win the Cup! Looksl ike you don't know jacks*** about hockey either.

I never said that it had anything to do with the outcome. I said that it has to do with how I feel different this year compared to last year which was the whole point of this thread to begin with. Last year I felt that this was just about sports. This year I don't which is why I feel different about it. I will say this though. In 98 when Konstantinov was suffered a career-ending injury, the Wings had a mission. They were going to repeat as champions to honor their teammate. There were skeptics, but the Wings knew that the Cup that year would be worth much more than just a sports title. Guess what happened. I'm not saying this will affect the outcome, but I will say that the Red Wings know exactly how it feels to play for a championship when it means more this year than the year before. And we still have 6 players from that year.

Last year my feeling was just about how sweet it would be for the team to win the Cup. This year I am thinking about the individuals rather than just the Red Wings. We tend to think of them as one team, but really they are individuals with lives too. This is Hossa's battle to prove that he was a genius and not an idiot. This is Ozzie's battle to silence the haters. This is Lidstrom's battle to prove that he is still Norris-worthy in spite of recent talk that he won't win this year. This is Pavel's battle to prove that he is up there with the big dogs like Malkin, Ovie, and Crosby and that he deserves that Hart nomination. This is Sammy's, Hudler's, and Filppula's battle to prove that they belong on this team next year just as much as Hossa. This is Franzen's battle to contend for the Conn Smythe because he was the obvious choice until his injury last year. This is Hank's battle to keep his Conn Smythe. And on top of that, this is also for the people who live in Detroit. Last year, it was nice. But this year the people of this area need it more. With the auto industry the way it is and putting up with all this crap from people dissing our city, this is our time. The boys know that.

The Pens are a good team, but at the end of they day they are the Pittsburgh Penguins and we are the Detroit Red Wings. That's all I need to say.

This is left over from last year. Supposed to be a play off the Gatorade commercial while Crosby scores the SO winner while sweating orange Gatorade.

The Ducks are not just okay. Sure they have only one offensive line, but their defense can smother the best forwards of any team. And Hiller was great. I believe he still leads in save percentage. The Bruins are not better than the Sharks. Sure the Sharks choked in the playoffs, but they are still a great team. Notice how they lost to Anaheim who is also another great western team. The Bruins could only beat the Habs (no big accomplishment) and then lost to Carolina of all teams. The Bruins just have goaltending. The Shraks are very physical and have a great presence. The Devils are not better than the Hawks. The Hawks have much better forwards in Kane, Teows, and Sharp. Devils have goaltending as their strong point and even Brodeur blew it against Carolina. The east gets to inflate their records by beating up on the Leafs, Sens, Lightning, Islanders, Thrashers, and others for 4-6 games a year depending on division. The only teams in the West that got consistently beat on this year were the Coyotes and the Stars. Other than that, most of the western teams were all playoff contenders. Teams in the East are all based on a couple superstar forwards. Teams in the west are based on chemistry and defense. The East has the best individuals. The West has the best teams. So yeah I would say the West has been much better lately.

Right but the East has not won the last two. As of recently, the west has been better.

Let's be honest. What do they have on us? Crosby and Malkin? Big deal. Those players are great, and I'm not saying they aren't, but two amazing forwards does not make a team. And as forwards, they are both pretty one way and not so great on defense. We have Datsyuk (hopefully), Hossa, Franzen, Z, Filp (as of recently), and Cleary who can all score as well as play defense to ensure that Malkin and Crosby will not. Other than those two players, we have Ericsson, Lidstrom (again, hopefully back soon), Rafalski, Kronwall, and Stuart on defense. What do they have that compares to that? And we have a very solid goalie in Ozzie, and even Conklin if need be. Sure they say the Pens are hungry this year, but so are the Wings. They are hungry to shut up the haters this year. Hossa is even more hungry to shut up the Pens and their fans that act like crazy jealous exes. Sure the Pens got some experience in the finals last year...but the Wings got the experience of winning which is even more important.

Ok I know this isn't directly game related but this is hilarious and I thought I would share because I just have to. My family vacation in Florida started today and we got to our hotel about 5 minutes before the game started. All of us are wearing our Wings apparel as usual. They lady at the hotel asks if we are Wings fans and we say yes. She then informs us that the Panthers arena is very close to the hotel and she suggested that we go to the game when the Wings come this week. We then proceeded to inform her that the Panthers are not in the playoffs and that the Wings are in Chicago this week. She laughed and said "Oh I thought the Wings were coming here this week." Then my dad asked her if there were good places around to watch hockey. She replied with "Yeah pretty much everywhere. Hockey is pretty big down here." LOL Bettman must be so proud.

Awww honey... Carolina was playing Pittsburgh. Close, but not the same team. And it's "won" not "one." And you seriously couldn't check NHL.com. That requires less effort and no posting. I'm pretty sure NHL.com might have a score.

I love how Sean Avery calls his ex girlfriend "sloppy seconds" and gets 6 games and anger management. Then JR completely disrespects Babcock (who is actually involved in the NHL unlike Avery's ex) and the NHL posts it as a juicy story on their website. (Not saying JR deserves to be suspended. I didn't think Avery did either. But I do think it's sad how they are inconsistent with what is and is not appropriate)

About a month ago, a couple friends from Indiana made plans to come up tomorrow. I already promised them that I would take them to Windsor since they have never been there and we are legal there. And of course now the Wings are scheduled to play that night. Does anyone know of any good places to watch the game in Windsor?
