During the post-game interview, Carlyle completely defended this hit. He blamed Hudler for "admiring his pass" and said that Brown hit with his shoulder, therefore there is no way it can be dirty. Absolutely disgusting franchise.

Just got back from the game. Here are my thoughts. Passes seemed a little sloppy toward the beginning. The crowd was so incredible. My voice was gone about halfway through the first period and it still is nowhere to be found. To me the hit on Hudler seemed dirty. There was blood all over the ice. I don't see how anyone can justify a bleeding face because hits are not supposed to go to the head anyway. Perry "got it" Ozzie was great in the third. Hiller looked good too. Pronger is still an *******. I sat behind a Leafs fan who was cheering for Anaheim and she was so rude and obnoxious. I got surprised with tickets for Sunday for my birthday so I'm pumped.

I understand that Ovechkin is more valuable to his team than Datsyuk is but that is still a terrible way to award a trophy. It's not Pavel's fault that no one on the Caps is good enough to pick up for Ovechkin.

This is awesome. He truly deserves this. I hoped he wouldn't go unnoticed this year.

I don't see why they would put all one conference one day and the other conference the other day. They would want to mix it. Also, I doubt the Wings would play tomorrow because the Ducks will get 2 days off, not one day. And especially since we should receive at least a couple days' notice so we can get tickets or make plans to take off work or something. I understand you're mad about the playoffs not rolling but you have to understand they are still rolling. There are two game 7's tonight. Just because the Wings haven't been playing doesn't mean the playoffs have stopped. For once, I don't blame Gary. I blame Devils and Caps for not getting it done in less than 7.

I don't know about you guys but I was getting pretty bored with SCORE-O at the Joe. I came up with a new alternative.

So when exactly did they lead their team to the cup? Last time I checked, they fell a little short. So do a lot of players. What's your point? 29 other NHL players also have a C on their jerseys. And having a C does not mean you are obligated to *****. (But then again we learned from Yzerman and you had Lemieux so that's understandable) So that's why Hank just signed an 11 year contract right before Franzen scored a 12 year contract? And Datsyuk signed a 7 year contract about 2 years ago? You're right. Elite players won't sign with Detroit next year, because they already did before the postseason started. LOL. Take your own advice.

My favorite moment was that whole span of time between the huge Stuart hit on Umberger followed by Commodore in the bench and then Z scoring while BJ's were trying to goon it up in the corner. MVP in my opinion goes to Franzen/Ozzie and maybe Z as the runner up.

LOL I was praying for Friday because that's when I'm done with classes and can come home. My dad already got tickets to game 1, and I really don't feel like driving all the way to Detroit and back on a school night when I can just come home on Friday and go.

I'm thinking the Wings will play Friday most likely? The long break will not hurt us because there is more time to rest, more time to practice, more time to come up with new plays/fix our few errors. This time we get a long-needed break without having some of our players get suspended.

This is exactly right. This team does have a standard to uphold, and it's very clear. I mean how many of you have said "I'm so glad Avery is gone from this team"? I know that most of you are saying this because Avery has a bad reputation not that he is a terrible player. Skills and stats are great, but so is a positive locker room atmosphere. Why do you think so many players want to come here when they could be making more money elsewhere? Our reputation of being a classy, positive, and mature organization from management to waterboys.

Punching a guy in the balls/butt while his teammate was holding him down? That's not exactly classy. Publicly coming out and dissing Lidstrom and Pavel for staying home and nursing their injuries (something that he had no place discussing because he had no idea to what extent they were injured, and actually got Bettman to bend the rule for him). He cannot handle pressure. He has not learned how to have a cool head yet.

The point is if you've ever seen Miracle, it's not about picking the best players, but about picking the right ones. Some of us happen to think that while Crosby is one of the best players, he is not right for us. Does that mean we are idiots/products of the failing school system? No, especially since most of us don't live in Detroit and therefore never attended Detroit Public Schools. All the OP wanted was an opinion, which means there can be more than one answer. And what's really ironic is that half the people here also keep bitching that we need more enforcers, more grit, less skill. Would Crosby solve that? None of us are GMs anyway and we will never have Crosby, so it really doesn't matter anyway.

I know. It's really funny when people get worked up and start insulting each other's intelligence because they gave the incorrect opinion...and on the internet on top of it because apparently it really matters whether someone you don't know in real life agrees with you.

No. I have four reasons. 1. He would not be as good with the Wings as he is with the Pens. Yes he puts up more points than Datsyuk, Hossa, or Zetterberg, but he gets more ice time than they do. If Crosby played for the Wings, his ice time would be cut short and he wouldn't put up as many points. 2. Also, unlike Dats and Z, Crosby does not have a special way of making everyone around him better. This season everyone was talking about how he was having trouble "meshing" with his wingers. How do we know he could "mesh" with ours? 3. I don't like the idea of his immaturity representing the winged wheel. Last time I said this everyone got all over me because "we all hated Chelios before he came here." Chelios is not immature or dirty anymore though. And no one on our team is dirty. I would like to keep it that way. It's better that our team is respected. I don't want someone who starts attacking people right after the faceoff, and who punches someone in the balls while his teammate holding him down. 4. Salary Cap
