The whole point of NHL discipline is to prevent serious injuries to players BEFORE they actually happen and someone has to get reconstructive surgery right? Then how does that goal get achieved when players are only suspended if the result is that they other person is injured? The NHL makes absolutely no sense with it's discipline and I doubt that Weber will get anything because Z is "fine." And suspensions also depend on the player being targeted. If Weber had smashed Crosby's head into the glass, he would be out for a loooong time. But it's Zetterberg so there will be nothing.

I think it's bulls*** how players on certain teams (not just Nashville) clearly goon it up at the end of games with intent to injure and get nothing out of it when it's the playoffs. What Weber did was not hockey. It was just being a thug. He wasn't hurt, but he could have been. And this won't be the last time that this ******* does something suspension-worthy. I might be way off, but I consider it a privilege to make the playoffs, even when my team has made the playoffs for 99% of my life. Idiots like these don't deserve to be playing to represent their team in the fight for the Cup.

So the head is allowed to be the principal point of contact (with BOTH HANDS THIS TIME) as long as no one is injured?

There is NEVER a time when a player should use his hands to grab another player's head and smash it into the boards. Not even in a fight. And especially not as the game is ending. And especially not when he doesn't even have the puck.
