At times he was very effective...at times he was very old. Not real big on bringing him back ....

Jurco is small? He's 6-2" and close to 200lbs as a 21 year old....by the time he's 25 he should be 210-215Lbs at least. I'd rather trade Pavel and Hank for youth and picks than trade youth for a declining player like Thornton.

If you trade to five you should have one of Bennett, Reinhart, Nylander or Draisaitl. Any one of those four would immediately become the club's top C prospect.. Offer this year's first and third and next year's 2nd.

He's big, he creates space by often drifting away from areas where he is likely to come into contact with an opposing player.... He's a third line floater making top six money.

Well...I've been watching hockey since 1970...I have a bit more than an inkling of hockey knowledge. Franzen is the quintessential floater. He doesn't offer much beyond his infrequent hot streaks and giving him top six minutes is a recipe for heartbreak. He's a 230 lb forward that plays smaller than the 185 lb Tatar.. He has concussion issues to boot. Buy him out now when you can and move on.

Our goal isn't to be better than Columbus or any other non Cup winning team...our goal is to be a Cup winning team. Would Franzen be top six on any of the four remaining teams? No. Dump him now when you can...I'd take a run at Iginla or Stasny in FA to pair with Z and Pavel and roll the kid line out as my second line. At least they're going to grow and improve and actually...you know..try. I guess you put Franzen on a third line with Weiss and Helm...but why bother? On the three or so nights a month that he's an engaged participant in the game...Franzen is a top six forward. The rest of the time he's pushing Ogey Ogilthorpe's one night stand for the spot as last chick on the pinwheel.....

Package our 1st and 3rd and next year's deep draft 2nd to get to #3.....there you'll get one of Draisaitl, Reinhart, Bennett, Dal Colle or Ritchie. I'd take Draisaitl or Ritchie....although Reinhart is intriguing as well.
